Play Some Music

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 27, 2013 by TonyApril 15, 2022
Play some music by writer, singer, illustrator Tony Funderburk

I’m inserting a podcast player so you can play some music for grownups. I call it that because I’ve spent a great deal of my time for the past few years writing music for kids, ebooks for kids, and even articles with bedtime stories for kids.

And since I’ve spent the vast majority of my music career writing, playing, and performing music for grownups…I wanted to be sure that you’re aware of that. Does that make sense? I hope so.

In this short demo you can play some music from a variety of my compilations. You’ll hear several styles including rock, western, eclectic, romantic, and even a little blues harp thrown in. I’m also including this music player on my newly designed “music for grownups” page. There should be other audio and video demos in coming days. I don’t know why…must be my ego or Id or my mom told me to or something.

I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’ve given it a listen. Feel free to leave a comment or email me on my contact page…even if you don’t like my work. Tell me why. Here’s the demo…

Singer Songwriter, Tony Funderburk, shares a close up of the Saturn Rings River.

Check out this close up of what appears to be an ancient body of water on Saturn. Baffled scientists are calling it the Saturn Rings River.

Note the pitted areas on the surface. Many have speculated the surface is gaseous, but this image clearly depicts something more along the lines of metamorphic materials. Also, you can see where the Saturn Rings River might have once had tributaries. Another explanation of the wider, dark areas might be an aquifer from which the headwaters sprang forth.

At the top of the photo (we’ll call it North for the sake of easy recognition) you’ll see what appears to be an estuarial area. This could have been an inlet from a larger bay or even ocean at one time billions and billions of years ago. Or it could even provide an answer or missing link to where all other celestial bodies in our solar system originated.

The point is…we’ve never had such clear, high definition images of any of Saturn’s rings or other surface areas before. So this one renews the spark of imagination and storytelling in anti creationist scientists all over the world.

After all…just think of the endless possibilities, hypotheses, and suppositions one can derive from unconfirmed truths.

By the way…the picture is actually a closeup of the cream on top of my coffee this morning.

Your vote, comments, and other feedback for singer songwriter Tony Funderburk's new song "What If I'm Right".

I have some very straightforward opinions on how our world, galaxy, and universe came to be. I make no secrets about it. If you’ve read my articles much at all, you’ll know I’m a young earth creationist. I have no qualms saying God designed the universe and everything in it simply by speaking it into existence. He took only 6 days to do it, and because He’s able to do that which far and away exceeds things we can even comprehend, it was “very good”. You can disagree with me, and we can discuss our differences, but here’s a key question:

What if I’m right?

If you’re an evolutionist, atheist, agnostic, or you fall into some other category that denies the existence of the God of the Bible, we could certainly talk about that. And I’d be glad to show you the mountain of evidence for the hope that lies within me. I’ve had plenty of good times and challenging times in discussions of this kind, but the question I believe merits much more thought  from an unbeliever remains…What if I’m right?

I tell people who are on the fence about this issue that if I’m wrong…if I’m putting my faith in some silly worldview that doesn’t have a foundation in reality…then I’m a fool. Why spend a life denying myself all the earthly pleasures if I’m just gonna die and enter blackness…or merely end up in “a good place” where everyone goes after death? How foolish would that be? After all, this life doesn’t last all that long. And if it’s all there is, I’d better grab all the gusto I can. Right?

But what if that’s not true? What if we do exist forever, but the location all depends on a choice we make in the here and now? What if the paradise mentioned in the Bible really does exist and we make a choice to not go there? Well, who’s the fool then?

I say that choice is real. You can say I’m wrong…but what if I’m right?

Now, maybe you don’t know me well enough to buy something from me, yet. Ok, let’s change that. Get to know more about me and my worldview. Join the growing body of believers who’ve signed up for the Tony’s Daily Devotional . And bask in daily, delightful flashes of light from the power of God’s love.

Stay tuned…

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 15, 2013 by TonyJanuary 7, 2026
Creative content writer, singer songwriter, and children's writer Tony Funderburk asks "what takes first place in the desires of your heart?"

When you consider the desires of your heart, what’s number one?

Do you desire a big paycheck? A nice house? A snazzy car? All of these? If so, do you think you’ll ever get ’em? And even if you’re well on your way to the next desire, do you think there’s an ironclad guarantee you’ll get ’em all?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself. And you certainly don’t need my approval…or anyone else’s for that matter. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. If “things” or “power” or “vanity” control the desires of your heart, you’re gonna eventually end up very disappointed. And the disappointment will last much, much longer than any you’ve experienced so far in your life.

The top desires of my heart grow stronger with each passing year. As much as I’d enjoy more money or a fancier house or a snazzier car…they’re not even on the charts with my true, yearning desires. The desires I’m talking about can’t be bought, but they’re paid for. They can’t be measured, but they overflow. They can’t be stored, but there’s no expiration date.

And they’re guaranteed by the manufacturer to surpass all I can think or imagine.

My two main desires are…to live forever…and to live with the Creator, the one true, living, loving God who gave me my heart in the first place. I find my deepest delight in Him, and so I know the desires of my heart are guaranteed.

If you don’t know the peace that passes all understanding…if you aren’t aware of the evidence of things hoped for…if you don’t have a sense of security that nothing can separate you from the love of Jesus…

Then begin to make these the desires of your heart…and you’ll get ’em.

I’d love to see you take the eternal road less traveled.

Twitter Music

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 13, 2013 by TonyFebruary 27, 2025
The Twitter bird plays his Twitter music written by singer songwriter, Tony Funderburk.

I can name that tune in 140 notes, so obviously I must be talking about “twitter music“. Yep, Twitter is apparently working on their own music streaming service. I wish them well. And this proves, yet again, that even though millions and millions and millions of people don’t want to pay for music, they can’t seem to live without it.

The Twitter bird plays his Twitter music written by singer songwriter, Tony Funderburk.

With every major player like Apple, Google, Facebook, and now Twitter putting so much emphasis on music, they must consider it a huge marketing plus. And I would have to guess they’re figuring out how to monetize the use of this music to their best advantage. Meanwhile musicians all over the globe keep figuring out more and more ways to give their work away.

Don’t misunderstand. I give away music, too. But I’m trying to think like Apple, Google, Facebook, and Twitter…how can I provide good, and sometimes free music, and thrive in this world of devalued art?

I look at it like this. Apple has a huge music fan base with iTunes. But they don’t have everyone. Google has a huge music fan base with YouTube and Google Play. But they don’t have everyone. Facebook is building a huge music fan base with services like Spotify. But they don’t have everyone. Do you see the age old pattern forming here? I don’t need everyone in order to have a decent fan base. I just need to get in front of as many people who like my kind of music as possible. Then, give them what they want in the most consistent, quality way I can.

So…I’ll be looking at Twitter music with the same discernment I use on iTunes, Google Play, Facebook, and a host of others. If it works to be there, I’ll be there. If not, you can always find me writing, sharing, and selling music here on the good ol’ TonyFunderburk.com

Father Knows Best

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 9, 2013 by TonyApril 18, 2022
Tony Funderburk: THE creative content writer in Denver talks about how Father Knows Best

Way back in ancient times…in TV world that is…there was a family focused sitcom called “Father Knows Best.” It starred Robert Young as the father, and his wife was played by Jane Wyatt. This fictional couple had 3 kids, two daughters and one son. The situations (the “sit” part of sitcom) most times were problems a family member would have, and almost all of the time father really did know best.

Of course, that’s all just too cornball nowadays. No longer does it appear that father knows best in sitcoms or any other place in mainstream entertainment. All too often the father in a modern day sitcom is the bumbling buffoon whose kids or wife or best friend have to come to his rescue.

Light years from the father knows best idea.

Well, I’d like to posit how we humans are more like the kids from “Father Knows Best” than some contemporary sitcom. And for the sake of my reasoning I’ll present my Heavenly Father, God, as the father of us all. (He is, but I’ll save that for another time)

We “kids” seem to always think we have all the answers. We know best. And we argue with one another. We take things from one another. We cheat on tests. And we steal whatever we think we can get away with. Plus, we make terrible messes.

Then, we think only WE can clean up our messes. Our Father doesn’t have a clue what we’re going through or have gone through. How could He? He hasn’t walked a mile in our moccasins. But we forget…He was here long before we were. Hmm…maybe we should re-think our position. Could He possibly have any experience we could learn from? Or knowledge we don’t yet possess? Or mechanisms in place that can provide solutions to our predicaments?

Let’s look at an example of what I mean.

In 2010, “kids” made a huge mess in the Gulf of Mexico. You may recall the BP oil spill that leaked almost 5 million barrels of oil into the Gulf. Well, this was sort of like kids playing in dad’s pool and spilling a bunch of gunk into it. The kids spring into frantic action to find something to clean it up. Then, they remember…hey, mom has some dish detergent that the commercial said cleans up oil. Quick, grab the bottle and pour the whole thing in the pool.

What the kids didn’t realize was that their father had thought ahead. When he bought the pool, he made sure the installers included state-of-the-art self-cleaning microbes that could degrade and even eradicate the gunk. So, the kids, in their frantic efforts to leave dad out of the equation (and to keep him from even knowing about it) actually made the problem worse…or at least made it take longer for the microbes to do their best. (see a similar story here)

This simplistic scenario is to illustrate a point.

Our world, our “ecosystem,” and even every creature in it is here by design. Our Father designed it. He did a brilliant job of creating a smorgasbord of things to eat…and a huge variety of creatures who will make sure it’s eaten. His architectural, mathematical, and scientific brilliance can be seen in the everything from the giant whale down to the single cell. If we could just all learn to trust Him and His failsafe systems with their awe-inspiring redundancies, we could see.

Father Knows Best.

Children’s Writer Challenge

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 8, 2013 by TonyJanuary 5, 2023
Professor Fundy says a creative content writer needs to tell stories.

I know at least one children’s writer who challenges my notions about myself.

I work with him everyday. And he challenges me to write engaging, relevant stories for kids and families. When I think I don’t have anything to say, he tells me I’m trying too hard to SAY something…when I should be diligently writing to TELL something.

“But you don’t understand,” I respond. “Everything has already been said a million times over!”

“Not exactly the way you can say it,” he calmly replies.

“Oh shut up,” I think to myself.

But I just smile and get my hands back on my Macbook keyboard and start typing. In fact, that’s how each of these letters and words appeared here in this story I’m sharing with you right now. Even a guy like me, who calls himself a children’s writer, sometimes needs a nudge in the creative direction. There are those times when the left-brain logical writer makes an incorrect deduction about the wants, needs, and desires of his target audience. This causes him to pause for too long and stifle his “flow”. Then the so-called logic becomes more and more inflexible and cautious. And the flow becomes a trickle and the trickle fades away.

Then the older, wiser writer reminds me…

“Use the trick I showed you to jump-start that flow again. Take a news article, or series of facts, or some other basic information and weave it into a creative story with energy, optimism, and hope. In a world where those three things are increasingly scarce (is that an oxymoron?) it’s important to inject them into the veins of public consciousness. It’s like getting a big whiff of peppermint or lemon scents. They just pick you up and keep you going.”

So…I go grab some lemon oil and honey…or a nice piece of peppermint…and let the words out into the green pastures of productivity. It’s awesome to watch them dance and jump and live.

If you know music, take this Music History Challenge from creative content writer, singer songwriter, and children's writer and illustrator Tony Funderburk.

Here’s a music history challenge for you.

I’ll bet you can’t tell me the 5 songs I’m including in this fairy tale and why they’re grouped together. If you need a hint, leave me a comment.

Once upon a time there were two bridges. One bridge went over water, and the other went over clouds. It was important to choose the right bridge because each one lead to an eternal destination from which there was no return. If a weary traveler chose the bridge over water, they would instantly achieve what they perceived to be good karma from the keeper of the records whose name was Jonfields.

However; weary travelers who chose the bridge over clouds would be whisked into the sky where a spirit named Aybeesy would approach them, touch his finger to their right ear and say…
“Let it be said that this traveler has chosen wisely.”

OK…do you have any ideas yet? I told you it was difficult. But I’ll include one hint to this music history challenge…and it’s this…the challenge is to all of US and no SINGLE individual alone.

I’m looking forward to your responses.

Baby Boomers In Love

Tony Funderburk Posted on April 2, 2013 by TonyFebruary 27, 2025
Baby boomers in love featured in a music video by creative content writer-singer-illustrator Tony Funderburk

I recently heard from some baby boomers in love. They’re friends of mine, and they’ve been married for over 25 years. Yep, they stuck it out when things were tough…enjoyed wonderful times together…had kids and sent them on their way in the world…and now they find they’re in love all over again.

What an awesome story.

Another cool part of the story is that they commissioned me to write a love song for them that reflects their journey. Well, I figure any baby boomers in love all over again after 25 years of marriage ought to have their own song.

Here’s another cool part to this story. I’d like to feature as many baby boomers in love as possible in a video for the song I wrote for this couple. The song is called “In Love Anew” and you can hear it in the video below. Here’s my idea…if you’re part of a baby boomer couple who’s made it through tough times and/or good times…and if you’re still going strong, or if you’re working on being in love anew…

Send me photos and/or videos that are suitable for sharing, and I’ll do my best to feature them in an updated music video. The photos need to show the love and be good quality jpg files. The videos need to be .mov or .m4v files. Please keep videos 60 seconds or less…just a quick clip of the couple doing something that shows the love.

OK…check out this initial version of “In Love Anew” and think of what you have that would fit in. The video shows you where to send your files. I look forward to seeing all you baby boomers in love out there.

A writer singer in Denver says "Lead By Example or don't lead at all"

If I was a wealthy man, and I wanted to truly help my country back into the sunshine of prosperity, I believe it would be best to lead by example.

In other words, I’d show poor people and hard-working middle class people how to play golf. Now there’s a skill you can take to the bank. I don’t think too many could argue with me on the merits of getting on the links at least once every 12 days or so. It improves your hand-eye coordination and sharpens your senses. And these are crucial to pulling yourself up by the golf shoes…er…bootstraps and making something of yourself. Agreed?

Next…I’d lead by example and get on an expensive plane, the most expensive in the country if it’s available, and zip on over to Hawaii. Of course, I’d need to take a friendly press corps with me, and they’d better bring their cameras…because how awesome it would be for all those struggling workers in the other 49 states to see me on the island beaches. Can you imagine how inspirational that would be?!

Of course, in order to lead by example, I’d need to show the lower and middle class populace how they, too, can have it all if they simply work hard, rub elbows with wealthy benefactors, and most of all keep quiet. After all, everyone knows you have to “go along to get along”. Can I hear an amen?

Oops…no amen. That could be misconstrued as offensive. And one of the first wealth building tips I’d share is how you cannot offend anyone. Well, except for Christians. But they’ll just turn the other cheek, and no harm no foul.

I gotta say…I get giddy just thinking about how many ways I could change the world I live in if I only had the opportunity of a wealthy man in charge. Maybe I could even run for president, and lead by example from the most powerful office in the world. Oh, who am I kidding. Things like that don’t happen. Not even in America.

Learn From Mistakes

In this world there is nothing sacred anymore.

But thankfully, if you believe there is a living, loving God who cares for you so much He came to earth as a man to take the punishment for your sins and crimes, then you’re in this world, but not of it. That simply means you’ll live forever in a sacred place with others who love God. And the worries, pain, suffering, and disregard for life will fall away like water off a duck’s back.

I look all around me and see nothing sacred anymore.

It’s in the news. On the radio and TV. And it’s in the books and magazines. Yeah, I see a growing hatred of the God I love and I know who loves me. It’s ironic that the people who typically shout the loudest about things like “hate crimes” and “tolerance” and “celebrating diversity” are almost always the ones who are least tolerant of those who love God. Christians, who say Jesus is the only Way to eternal life in paradise with God are hated. Simply for what they say. Look, it comes from the Bible…the best-selling book of all time. If you’re gonna be true to your “cause”, don’t merely pay lip service to it. Love, tolerate, and celebrate the diversity that is Christianity.

If you believe your free speech right gives you the right to mock and ridicule Christians…whether it’s in your rallies, on your TV programs, in your songs, or anywhere else…then at least have the conviction of your beliefs to allow the same in return.

Don’t dish it out, if you can’t take it.

When you boldly flaunt your hatred for the true, living God of the Bible with your disregard for human biology, or the wonderful design of a marriage between a woman and man, or the mountain of evidence for creation to explain our origin, don’t be surprised when we use our creative skills to expose you and show how there’s nothing sacred anymore…in this  world.

Choose Life

Tony Funderburk Posted on March 26, 2013 by TonyApril 7, 2023
Writer, singer, and illustrator Tony Funderburk urges you to Choose Life

I had an account that asked me for a quote, and I used “therefore, choose life”. Any ideas where it came from?

This coming Sunday is known all around the world as “Easter Sunday” or “Resurrection Sunday”. And I can’t think of anything more pro life or life-affirming than to know there’s a living, loving God who cared so much for us that He made a way for us to LIVE forever in paradise with Him.

C’mon…live forever?! Now that’s something I want. And I’d love for every person, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, or size to get in on that action. Unfortunately, that’s not gonna happen. Because millions and millions and millions of people don’t choose life. They choose to be their own king…or queen. And they bet their eternal existence on how they feel about it.

And worse than that, too many people don’t even choose life for the smallest, most helpless and innocent people of all…the unborn people. The little babies who never got the chance to choose life…or anything else for that matter.

I just finished a song called “Choose Life.”

And depending on how you look at it (or listen to it) it’s either my latest “pro life” song…or an appropriate Easter Sunday song…or simply an upbeat life-affirming song. I purposely made the lyrics a little harder to discern. I’d love for you to sign up to my email newsletter and get a free copy of the song.

Sign up, tune in, and let me know what you think about the song. If you like it, tell me…and even more importantly tell your friends and family. Let them know they can sign up and get it too. There’s no obligation beyond that, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

OK…here are the words to “Choose Life”…

Green, lucky 7 dice don't phase writer, singer Tony Funderburk.

I don’t believe in luck, lucky 7, or any other superstition involving mere luck. And I don’t care who knows it. I’m rolling the dice on the chance you’ll agree…

That being said, I can remember warm, spring days in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas when I was young and free to lie in cool, green grass and look for four-leaf clovers. And I also remember finding a few. Not once did I ever feel or get luckier for finding the clovers, but it was fun. It made for very pleasant memories.

I can also remember playing board games back then. Monopoly, Sorry, Parcheesi, Clue, and a bunch more. Maybe you played some when you were younger too. I never found a roll of the lucky 7 to be any luckier than a lucky 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Maybe it was just me. But did you ever find your life changed by choosing lucky 7 for anything?

If you did, please share your story below. And if I get exactly 7 responses in opposition to my take on it, then I’ll use lucky 7 on my next life decision.

Be watching for responses…or better yet, leave one yourself, and…

Everything In Moderation

Tony Funderburk Posted on March 15, 2013 by TonyJanuary 5, 2023
A writer singer in Denver says "no" to Everything in Moderation

Is everything in moderation something you live by?

I don’t because it doesn’t apply to every avenue of life. Here’s a short explanation of what I mean. “Everything in moderation” isn’t universally axiomatic. For example, we shouldn’t want murder, or stealing, false accusations in moderation.

Drinking in moderation…yes…or shopping in moderation…certainly. But true, inalienable rights come from the Creator…otherwise they’re just policies…subject to subjectivism and/or the whims of a so-called “organic” government document.

Every person has the right to life, liberty (self-protection), and the pursuit of happiness. We can nullify our rights by violating the rights of others. But no person has the right to take those rights from an innocent person…no matter how big or small.

And instead of focusing on “moderation,” fill yourself to overflowing with whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report and have virtue and are praiseworthy.

Meditate on that and get back to me…

This writer singer says Happy Pi Day and salutes Strawberry Pi

Happy Pi Day

Mmm…I love pi. Blueberry, pecan, pumpkin, and the always delectable strawberry pi. I’m so glad to find out they’ve created a special Pi Day.

Not just pi in the sky

What a glorious…huh?…what did you say? Pi day is all about circles? Well, duh. Have you ever seen a square pi? Or rectangular? Or trapizoidal? Or anything but round pi? No, I didn’t think so. Huh? What’s that? The ratio of the circumference to the diameter? Well, never mind that. I’m more interested in the ratio of the slice to the saucer. The more saucer you cover up with pi, the better the ratio.

What’s that you say? Pi Day isn’t about the Pi you eat? It’s about geometry? It’s about determining sizes and it’s used in engineering and applications?

Come on, dude. Who cares what Pi is if it isn’t delicious and colorful and fun to eat?! Give me the geometry of a round saucer and a semi-triangular slice of strawberry Pi…and the engineering of a shiny, clean stainless steel fork…and maybe the application of some organic homemade whipped cream. Now, that’s a Happy Pi Day.

Stay tuned,

A singer songwriter in Denver asks why so much music goes to the dark side.

What’s this obsession with
the dark side of music?

I remember when I was growing up how music was so much about fun and storytelling and sharing reasons to be glad to be alive. Now, there’s just so much darkness to it all. Well, maybe not all…but so much of it that it seems that way sometimes.

For instance…I get Google email alerts for a variety of topics in the world of music. One of the alerts has to do with music licensing. And one of the listings I just saw was a publishing company looking for “Black Metal, Death Metal, Grime, Hard Rock, Hardcore, Heavy Metal, Metal, Post-Hardcore, Progressive, Screamo, Thrash”

Another one was looking for “Dark urban, dark country, & goth”

You know…maybe it reflects on how young people feel about their lives these days. Maybe they’re not very optimistic about their future. On that point I can’t say I blame them very much. After all the “people in charge” of the government are spending their money and even their kids’ money at an alarming pace.

Still…I’ve never made it my mission to put much stock in what politicians do or say. The vast majority lie even when the truth sounds better. And their whole purpose in life is self-preservation…of power, money, and control. You know what? Those are strong forces on the dark side. And that sort of powernomics definitely trickles down to the masses.

But…if you’re a young musician, singer-songwriter, or other artist, can a guy who’s been around the block a time or two when it comes to music pass on some advice? It’s just this: Look Up. Your days on this earth are a vapor in the grand expanse of time. You are an eternal being. Fearfully and wonderfully made. You didn’t happen by accident. So seek Truth on purpose.

And I promise you there are lots of reasons, found in Truth, to “banish the dark side and welcome the light…then you’ll win the never-ending fight.”

Stay tuned,

If it Ain’t Too Much Trouble

Pardon the slang grammar, but I wrote a song back in 1987 called “If It Ain’t Too Much Trouble”. And I just found the typed lyrics I was using for a while when I performed it on stage. I never played it very much, and it wasn’t a particularly popular song of mine…at least no one ever said they loved it or had to have it. Of course, there were only about 50 or 60 people who ever heard it. And I’d say that mostly likely only about 6 of them were people I knew or know.

Anyway…I remember a stretch of years in my life back in the 80’s when I was a single traveling musician. I guess you could say I was decent looking and had my share of attention from the female types. But I never seemed to connect with one for very long. I’m sure it had something to do with the fact that I was a full-time traveling musician.

Well, one of my road trips took me to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I played music 5 or 6 nights a week, and on my night off between weeks I stayed in my room most of the time working on writing new songs. The weather wasn’t cooperating for me to spend time outdoors, so it was a perfect time to get the keyboard, drum machine, and notebook out. (no laptops or iPhones back then)

I’d had this tune in my head and an idea for some lyrics. So, I started jotting down ideas. I’ve always been one of those writers who edits as he goes, but I like that way. So…line by line I formulated this idea about a fictional girl (made up from a conglomeration of multiple acquaintances) who was aloof and couldn’t be bothered to build anything lasting. And I came up with the line “if it ain’t too much trouble”.

I think I have an old recording of the song somewhere.

Check out the lyrics, below, and leave me a comment or post on Facebook, Twitter, Google, or wherever if you’d like to hear it. And I’ll see if I can find it.

7 eBooks For Kids And Counting

Tony Funderburk Posted on February 12, 2013 by TonyFebruary 19, 2023
Professor Fundy says a creative content writer needs to tell stories.

The 7th one of my ebooks for kids is…well…in the books.

That picture is a totally impromptu photo opp of me and the books.

Internet marketers and social media experts say you shouldn’t just talk about yourself all the time when you’re posting things online. I agree with that. However; we still have to promote ourselves until we reach that pinnacle where the whole world is talking about us. Nope, I don’t have the whole world talking about me, my ebooks for kids, my music for kids, or anything else about me.

But I do have a very generous small group of friends and social media acquaintances telling others about me and my humble website/blog. Thank you guys very, very much. I can’t tell you what it means to me to have your support.

All that being said…why did I write “7 ebooks for kids and counting”? Simple. I just published and released “The Silver Horse”. It’s a short, easy read that’s perfect for a bedtime story when parents don’t have time for long involved bedtime stories. And it’s based on one of my “Bedtime Buckaroos” lullaby songs by the same name. Click on lullaby songs and scroll down to the free player and you can hear it for free.

So, The Silver Horse becomes the 7th one of my ebooks for kids. But I’m already working on the 8th…and a bunch more are in the pipeline. With your continued support I hope to write till the cows come home, pigs fly, or until I’m caught up in the sky.

Stay tuned,

Hope Springs Eternal...even in perilous times.

Perilous times and perilous men should not destroy your hope.

Even though my wife and I never had kids we’ve always loved them and enjoyed their imaginative outlook on life. That’s why I write music for kids, ebooks for kids, and create illustrations and videos for kids. I want them to enjoy words and music and pictures and be safe and loved.

But we live in perilous times.

Because they’re filled with perilous men (and even some women). There’s a very good book that talks about this. It mentions how so many men only love themselves…or money…or pleasure. And it talks about how they become boastful, full of false pride, unthankful, unloving, unforgiving, brutal, and despising anything good.

These same “grownups” end up raising disrespectful and disobedient kids. No surprise. And nowadays when a person even says the term “disobedient kids,” they’re ridiculed. What they don’t realize is that an obedient, respectful kid is almost always one who’s being (or has been) raised in a happy home…a home where discipline is dealt out fairly and with love.

Perilous times come about when kids aren’t empowered with a moral compass…a compass of truth that can be trusted not to change with the election of a new class of politicians. Truth that can be trusted not to change with the passing of another million laws. Truth that can be trusted not to change because it isn’t cool anymore.

I want all kids, from the moment they are conceived, to be loved.

And with a love that surpasses mere human understanding. A love that doesn’t merely give them a cola and a smile and a hug…but a love that encompasses their spirit forever. And I know that even saying this I risk losing a large potential audience for my words and music. But I also know not saying it risks so much more.

In these (and the coming) perilous times look up. Equip yourself for every good work. And look up. Because one day the clouds will carry our Hope.

Stay tuned,

Writer-singer-illustrator, Tony Funderburk, shares the news about the latest of his ebooks for kids "The Silver Horse"

Don’t confuse this silver horse with “Silver”, Roy Rogers’ famous horse…

In the last few months of 2012 I wrote a collection of western themed lullaby songs. I called this collection “Bedtime Buckaroos”. There are 9 songs on the CD, and “The Silver Horse” was the 8th one I wrote and recorded.

I debuted the songs in 4 weekends at private house concerts and at The Windy Saddle Cafe in Golden, Colorado. And people told me their kids really enjoyed ’em. In fact I was asked to repeat several of the songs, and it was fun to see this reaction to something I’d had so much fun writing, producing, and recording.

Now, I’ve taken the lyrics to the song, created some of my own personal illustrations, and “The Silver Horse” has become the 7th one of my ebooks for kids. It’s a story about some prairie critters and what they do when a silver horse flies across the skies and lands right next to them. Is there a subtle message? I’ll leave that up to your interpretation…
