Unlock the Grok For More About the Rock

I discovered a convenient way to dive a little deeper into information. And X marks the spot. Yeah, the social media channel known as X. Maybe you remember it as Twitter. Anyway, all you gotta do to tap into the “secret” little tool is click or tap on the XI icon, known as Grok, next to a post or profile when you see it. Unlock the Grok. That’s what I call it.

And a lot of info can pour out when you unlock the Grok.

For example, I responded to a question about why politicians so often connect with the worst possible Christian “teachers.” And I quoted 2 Timothy 4:3 (NKJV):

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Well, my response unlocked the Grok. And here’s what you could find out from the Grokster:

  • Tony Funderburk’s post quotes a biblical passage from 2 Timothy 4:3-4, warning about people turning away from sound doctrine to follow teachings that suit their desires.
  • This post is a direct response to criticism of Paula White, a televangelist known for prosperity gospel teachings, suggesting that people seek out teachers like her due to a desire for comforting or self-serving messages rather than truth.
  • The concept of “itching ears” in the post relates to a broader critique of modern religious practices where individuals might prefer teachings that align with their personal desires over traditional or sound doctrine.

The Prosperity Gospel, also known as prosperity theology, the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success, is a religious belief that has gained significant traction among some Charismatic Christians. It posits that financial blessing and physical well-being are always God’s will for believers. The doctrine suggests that through faith, positive scriptural confession, and donations to religious or charitable causes, one’s material wealth can be increased.

Key points of the Prosperity Gospel based on the information provided:

  • Core Beliefs: Adherents of the Prosperity Gospel believe that God wants believers to be richly blessed in this life, with physical well-being and material riches being seen as signs of divine favor. They emphasize that faith can lead to liberation from poverty, sickness, and other life challenges through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
  • Historical Development: The Prosperity Gospel evolved from the New Thought movement of the early 20th century, which focused on the power of positive thinking and the mind’s ability to influence reality, including health and wealth. It was further developed within American Pentecostalism, with figures like Oral Roberts becoming early mainstream proponents.
  • Other Key Figures: Prominent leaders associated with the prosperity theology include Oral Roberts, Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, and Paula White, among others. These figures have played significant roles in spreading the doctrine through televangelism and mega-churches.

Here’s some more interesting insight:

  • Criticism: The Prosperity Gospel has faced substantial criticism from various Christian denominations and secular observers. Critics argue that it distorts traditional Christian teachings by focusing on material wealth over spiritual growth, promotes idolatry, and can be exploitative, particularly towards the poor. It’s been suggested that this theology blames individuals’ lack of faith for their misfortunes, which can be problematic from both a theological and ethical standpoint.
  • Cultural Impact: The spread of Prosperity Gospel has not been confined to the U.S.; it has also found followers in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, influencing millions to leave traditional churches for those promoting prosperity theology. However, this has also led to concerns about the exploitation of vulnerable populations.
  • Theological Concerns: Many theologians and Christian leaders see the Prosperity Gospel as contrary to the teachings of Jesus, who emphasized humility, compassion, and the acceptance of suffering as part of the Christian life. Critics argue that this focus on material prosperity undermines the core messages of the Gospel, which center on spiritual richness and the acceptance of life’s hardships.
  • Modern Context: The Prosperity Gospel continues to be a controversial topic, with its teachings often highlighted in public discourse through the activities of televangelists and mega-church pastors. It remains a significant part of contemporary Charismatic Christianity, drawing both followers and detractors due to its promises and methods.

Wow. That’s actually very good.

I was surprised to find information that didn’t seem to be influenced by an anti-Christian bias. Or a bias against Christians who want to admonish the prosperity gospel “preachers.” So, I was glad to discover how to unlock the Grok.

Then, I asked Grok to write an eight line poem on what to watch for in the prosperity gospel message. And here’s what Grokspeare composed:

In the whispers of prosperity’s claim,
Seek not just wealth, but wisdom’s gain.
Look for teachings of love and grace.
Not promises of an easy place.

Beware the lure of earthly treasure,
For true wealth lies in spiritual measure.
In the gospel, find faith’s true light,
Where peace and joy, not riches, are right.

So, if you wanna share poetry with your audience, friends, and family, you should probably not unlock the Grok. But don’t be too hard on him. He’s digital. That means true emotion isn’t likely to give real poets any competition. Then again, wannabe poets might feel threatened.

There you go. Maybe this all meant nothing at all to you. But if you found some benefit, join the growing body of believers who’ve already signed up for the TRUTH Journal. And I’ll send you daily flashes of light so we can stay focused on faith, hope, and the power of God’s love.

Time between dates never moves. It just waits.

You know the time between dates is measurable. So, I know you know those measurements are called days or weeks or months or years, etc. Because those are the words we use to describe measurements of time. Alright. I think we’re good on that.

But wait. Some people think there’s not time between dates.

Uh-oh. I think I just kicked my figurative toe on a figurative can of figurative worms. Well, that figures. I do that kind of thing all the time when I start talking about golden calves (I’ll just leave that there).

Anyway…

I saw again today where a Christian, on social media, said certain things don’t affect God the way you might think because He’s “outside of time.”

And once again, I can’t just not reply. Nope. Because God can no more be outside of time than you or me. Or even Dick Van Dyke (not-so-obscure old guy reference humor). Because ALL of existence, including God exists IN time. Because time exists because God exists.

Wow, those last couple of thoughts contained a lot of becauses (not a real word, but it makes a point). And that’s to highlight the point.

God thinks one thought after another. It takes time to do that. God created the different components of the Earth, solar system, galaxies, and universe on different days. It takes time to do that. And God is the ultimate intelligent designer, so it didn’t take more than six days for Him to make it ALL.

But there WAS time between dates, so to speak.

God called those measurements of time (which He was fully IN as He created) days. Not periods of time. Days. And not some esoteric days. Nope. He mentioned a morning and an evening.

I’m not gonna dive deeper into whether or not God is out of time. Because I’m put together some thoughts (which takes time) and share a fun reason-filled rhyme about this. But I DO think you’ll enjoy a deeper dive on the subject. So, try this God outside of time article. It’s great. Before you do, maybe you should consider…

Playtoe’s Dilemma

So, Playtoe was a guy who couldn’t speak
Because he had no time, and he was weak.
Too weak to speak a syllable because his time was still and full.
But what brought on this time, no time, mystique?

Well, Playtoe wasn’t sure, but he just knew
His own ideas described God right and true;
That He’s in an eternal now, but no one seems to know quite how
He does what it takes time for Him to do.

Yeah, Playtoe said God lives outside of time.
But that thought has no reason and no rhyme.
When one thought follows other thoughts, a sequence then connects the dots,
And not to call it time would be a crime.

If Playtoe could have only learned to trust
That God can change His mind and still be just,
And perfect from forever past, and in Whom all of time will last,
He would have never ended up nonplussed.

Ol’ Playtoe DID find out the Truth one day.
But, sadly, much too late to find his way
To where man-made philosophies, run by those gods with little g’s,
Will nevermore befuddle and betray.

What are you gonna do? Something you wanna do?

Ok, let’s say you need a Creality K2 Plus Combo 3D Printer 600mm/s Multi-Color Printing w/ CFS. And you need it in a hurry. Or maybe your Random 2 PLA+ANYCUBIC Kobra 3 Combo 3D Printer 600mm/s Smart Multicolor Printing is showing its age and you’d like to upgrade. And what if your Autel MaxiSys Elite II PRO ULTRA Auto Diagnostic Scanner Programming E~CU Coding is on the fritz. What are you gonna do?

Of course, I realize you might only be thinking about a Solar Battery Powered Wireless Security Camera System WiFi IP with Outdoor Home Audio. Or a 8″ 10″ 12″ 14″ Gel Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress In A Box (that comes in Twin Full Queen King). And you creative types might be eyeballing the Donner DDP-60 88 Key Semi-Weighted Digital Electric Piano Keyboard & Pedal. In those cases, I have the same question.

What are you gonna do?

Well, you’re NOT gonna pay full price. That’s for sure.

Because eBay has a coupon for you. Take 15% off home, tech, and more. Just go to eBay.com, use the code: FRESHSTART And make your selections up to $350. You can do that twice, by the way. The deal started 1/13/25 and ends 1/24/25 11:59 PM PT. So, get your goods while the gettin’s good. And there are nearly 30,000 things to choose from. So, you’re bound to find something you need.

Now, you might wonder why I’d share a money-saving tip like this. Especially when I so clearly tend to share the rhymes and reasons found in the logical evidence for our Creator God. Well, it’s purely self-serving.

Yep. When you use this eBay.com link I’m sharing, and actually buy something, I make money. Bam! It’s not a lot. It’s a commission for referring you to eBay.com. But it doesn’t alter the prices there at all. Nope. You get the 15% discount, eBay.com gets more customers, and I make a little money to help me keep this website and my podcast going strong.

Another way you can support what I do without it costing you anything you weren’t gonna spend anyway.

Win – Win – Win – Win  You, eBay, the sellers on eBay, and me.

Now, THAT is a life lesson from Phi Slamma Jamma. So, NOW, what are you gonna do.

As for me?

I’m gonna leave my cares and troubles far behind
I’m gonna live this brand new life that I’ve designed?
And I’m gonna love discovering which way to go.
I’m gonna laugh and then say yes instead of no.

Music is real and much more than a feel

Play

Get The The Power of God's Love Podcast Delivered to Your Device Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Amazon Music | Android | Pandora | iHeartRadio | Podchaser | Podcast Index | TuneIn | Deezer | RSS | More

Music isn’t the only thing that makes you human. And it’s not even the main thing. But music is real. And that’s true even though it’s totally invisible and void. You can’t hold it, touch it, or physically feel it. So, it’s an amazing and complicated marker, among many markers, for what makes us human.

Music is real and everybody knows it.

Unless you’re deaf, you know how real music is. What it does to you, working from the inside out after it travels from the outside in to you.

And, I need to walk the “deaf” comment back a little. Because way, way back in the day I dated a wonderful woman who was deaf. And I remember how much she liked to dance. One time, after a spin around the dance floor, I asked her how she did it since she couldn’t hear. And she explained she could “feel hear” the beat of the loud music through the floor. So, she was able to move to it.

I thought that was so cool. And I’ve never forgotten it.

A few years ago I shared an article about how people with advanced dementia can make sudden, remarkable improvements in cognition when they hear familiar music. “Scientists” discovered how music can “wake up” brains that are almost completely gone. And they said the results they saw were “sometimes truly magical and inexplicable.” (side note: their use of inexplicable is why I put quotation marks around “scientists”)

Anyway…

Those “scientists” said those dementia sufferers seem to “come back” for a bit as they listen to familiar songs they love. And they call music a “proto-language.” Think of it as how parents talk to a baby.

So, they think music is a language, eh? Hmm…

I believe I’ve mentioned that a lot more than once here on my website. And I’ve talked about how that’s just one of many indicators that music is real and evolution is a stupid theory. Even those “scientists” theorized that “music appreciation appears to be embedded or wired into nearly all regions of the brain.”

“Wired into.” Uh, that would imply somebody did some wiring. Because something that complicated would not have created itself out of primordial soup. Wonder who could’ve “wired” music to brains?

Those same “scientists” also said that “music seems to be tied in closely with love and relationships.” What possible evolutionary purpose would that serve? (that was a rhetorical question)

Finally, the research shows that music has a “clear, powerful physiological effect” on social bonding. And, because of that, the conclusion appears to be self evident. It’s so important to your brain’s design that music is really an “indispensable part of what makes us human.”

Give Me Songs

Give me songs to wake the brain waves
Through my often cluttered mind.
Give me sonic repercussions
No one else will ever find.
And a musical sensation
With connections to the source
Of all music and creation.
Yes, please give me that, of course.

Servitude Heart is the right place to start

He showed up with a servitude heart. And that was no small detail. Because he was actually a king. No, that’s not quite accurate. He was THE king. Of the whole universe, in fact. But He showed up here in our dirty, little world with a mission to make things right. And His actions, over and over, proved He came here to serve, not BE served.

The ultimate model of a servitude heart.

And it makes perfect sense to say He’s the ultimate model. Because He even says that you and I were made in His image and likeness. It’s kinda like He’s the mold (defined: a distinctive and typical style, form, or character AND form or shape, especially the features or physique of a person). And you and I were copies made from that mold.

So, here’s what I think (and you can take what I think PLUS a smartphone and make a call to just about anywhere in the world). God knew, when He made us, and even more now, that us copies would never live up to the original. And He planned out actions He could and/or would take to compensate for, and even wipe out, our stupid decisions AND the consequences for them.

That information about His character inspired me to write a song about how a servitude heart should be our response to His love. You have the freedom to disagree. But I bet you don’t.

Consequential Servitude

God looked down on me. He knew I was wrong;
Usurped my position I’d held for so long.
Yeah, He just took over where my brain left off.
He knew it was risky. He knew they’d all scoff.
Sometimes I’m so stupid, and so often blind;
Trade reason for feelings; mistakes underlined.

And so again; I behold the outer man
Through God’s condescending attitude.
And I defer to the perfect Architect
And this consequential servitude.

He spirals His thoughts through my barricade.
He knows I am feeble, yet hands me His blade.
And He tells me to rise up from my Phoenix blight
He builds me a fortress of conquering Light.
When my clay is brittle and crumbles to sand,
I long to be putty in my Master’s hand.

And then I can behold the inner man
Through God’s condescending attitude.
Because He chose me as His dwelling place
I choose this consequential servitude.

There were no incantations, no hallelujah chorus.
He succumbed to His detractors; withstood an inquisition.
And then commended His spirit, relinquished His position,
And then He died a death that was for us!

Repeat Ist verse and 2nd chorus…end

Hillbilly ideology sounds mighty good to me

Play

A while back I shared some hillbilly ideology I found online. And it got some funny additional comments and feedback. Recently somebody asked if I would share it again. So, yeah, I’m glad to oblige.

And the picture that went along with the text is a big part of what made me read through. Because it was an old guy with long and gray hair. He sat on a tree stump and held a large, single-shot rifle. So, I figured if there was anyone who fit the bill, it was this guy.

He didn’t call it hillbilly ideology.

He just said it was plain ol’ hillbilly Wisdom:

  1. Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight, and bull-strong.
  2. Keep skunks, bankers, and politicians at a distance.
  3. Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
  4. A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
  5. Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled.
  6. The best sermons are lived, not preached.
  7. If you don’t take the time to do it right, you’ll find the time to do it twice.
  8. Don’t corner something that is meaner than you.
  9. Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.
  10. It don’t take a very big person to carry a grudge.
  11. You cannot unsay a cruel word.
  12. Every path has a few puddles.
  13. When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
  14. Don’t be banging your shin on a stool that’s not in the way.
  15. Borrowing trouble from the future doesn’t deplete the supply.
  16. Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.
  17. Don’t judge folks by their relatives.
  18. Silence is sometimes the best answer.
  19. Don‘t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t botherin’ you none.
  20. Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
  21. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
  22. Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
  23. The biggest troublemaker you’ll ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
  24. Always drink upstream from the herd.
  25. Good judgment comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgment.
  26. Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
  27. If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around.
  28. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
  29. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
  30. Most times, it just gets down to common sense.

There you go. Which one(s) float(s) your boat? Or are you like me and you’re just gonna go for ALL the hillbilly ideology?

Boomer description, don't have a conniption

I saw an interesting boomer description this morning. The writer made this list and the comment that followed:

  • We drive used cars;
  • Live in modest homes;
  • Prepare our own meals – no meal services;
  • Brew our own coffee;
  • Grow gardens;
  • Shop sales;
  • Don’t consume to make others think we’re rich

We aren’t celebrating that young folks can’t afford homes. Many of us have our children living with us while they try to save a down payment. Many of us voted for people who care about young people. Please stop lumping us all together as though we are callous.

And that wasn’t the only boomer description with a positive message.

Here are some more:

“I’m 62. In some of the best shape of my life. Some of us have been awake a LONG time, not buying what the mainstream is selling, and have been around long enough to see the patterns that got a lot of people in a very precarious place.”

“Why do boomer men refuse to slow down? A boomer myself, I cannot stop working as I have done so all of my life. We have to keep fit and as healthy as we can. I wonder how some of today’s younger people will fare when they’re my age.”

“Boomer ’61 but more gen x than most gen xers. I still clean my gutters & screen enclosure on a 12 ft ladder, do martial arts, shoot gun & bow. No meds, never sick and if you get too close, watch out.”

Here’s a short, but great, one:

“Do you want the key to eating healthy? Avoid eating any food that has a TV commercial !! #boomerknowsthings”

“Glad I’m a boomer! I was taught manners and respect and how to behave in social gatherings. I can communicate in full sentences, and I can write in cursive.”

And here’s a comment that a daughter shared about her boomer dad:

“Grew up on a farm. My dad still lives there. Eats his own meat and eggs every single day. He puts salt on everything, works hard outside daily, still has a flip phone, no internet or social media and NEVER goes to the doctor for anything. And he’s 72 and healthier than many people I know in their 40’s!!!!”

Unfortunately I don’t think any of these boomer descriptions fit most people in that demographic. But it’s great to see there are a lot. Because that means there are still a lot of us who understand the importance of moving and working. And I’m a firm believer that moving and working for as long as you possibly can is what God wants for you, too.

And if you’re reading this, you and I are still here on the planet. So…

Here we stand,
While the clock is tickin’ we’re alive and kickin’
Time moves on,
But we must remember, keep a burnin’ ember.
Let’s go out and capture life together.

(from my song, “Let’s Capture Life Together”)

Boomer opinions that don't offend all minions

Boomer opinions. Yeah, those “old” people actually DO take a position on a lot of stuff in life. And I discovered, earlier this morning, that younger generations agree with some of them. GASP!

Like this one: “They need to fix the audio in movies so that the music and sound FX don’t drown out the dialogue?” That was a comment on a social media channel. And replies mentioned how “that so true” plus “Yeah, and the movies are filmed so dark you can hardly tell what’s going on.”

Remember, those are replies to boomer opinions.

Not just more boomers agreeing with boomer opinions. So, see? The “old people” ain’t the only ones who say some of these things.

Here’s something else mentioned by a boomhead: “Every store/service does not need an app.” And some younger replies included: “If I need an app to shop there, I will shop someplace else. Just another way to pilfer your private information!” What?! You mean even younger people value privacy? And I like this reply, too: “I don’t download them. If they want me as a customer, stop making it more difficult for me to patronise your store! That especially applies to restaurants. I want a menu I can read, not on a phone screen.”

Here’s one more opinion: “I want to talk to a person in customer service, not a machine.” And here’s a reply from someone who is NOT a boomer: “I am sick to death of the first 4 to 6 minutes of every call being automated rubbish and press 1 for this and 2 for that only to either end up in a queue, on hold, or being told this can be done online and hung up on. Half the time you are in the queue and “mysteriously” are disconnected too. Then they wonder why customers are rude or raging on the phone. Dude, you have messed them around for upwards of 30 minutes before they even reached the call centre that are then unable to help them anyway.”

Yeah, I’m not eggzackly sure why so many “younger generations” have such low opinions of baby boomers. But I see SO many comments where they poke fun of us, attempt to mock us, and even curse their fool, little heads off at us.

So, it’s nice to see at least a few of them agree a little.

One thing I believe is crucial to not looking and/or sounding like an old dork is to stay up with technology. Don’t gripe about it and say things like, “Who can keep up with all these changes? Those corporations just use updates and upgrades to get more of your money.”

Play it smart. You don’t have to get every new thing and then get every new update. But you DO need to know what’s going on. Because that techno world you might rather resist is just another tool that Satan and his minions will try to use against you.

So, don’t help him and his minions.
Tech up your boomer opinions.

You could start by knowing a lot more about your phone. And here’s an audio book that makes it a lot easier to learn and understand.

Stay tuned…

New tricks the right mix for a good fix

PGrab some coffee (or your favorite brain waker upper) and get ready to learn some new tricks. And don’t give me that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks baloney.

I learn some kind of “new trick or tricks” every day.

And, as you might recall, there’s another old saying that you’ve probably even heard recently: “You learn something new every day.”

I’ve never truly bought into the idea that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks anyway. In the first place, most people, who use that phrase, apply it to people. People aren’t dogs. And in the second place, I’ve seen actual old dogs learn new tricks. And I’ll be darned if I’m gonna let an old dog outlearn me.

I’m happy to say I found others who agree with me on this. Here’s a few comments I found from “old dogs” who’ve heard others say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks:

  • “a favourite saying for those who don’t wish to learn any more”
  • “this dog’s going for an MBA. Here’s to learning, growth, and proving it’s never too late!”
  • “Something I never thought I could do EVER, but always wanted to, I did today (TWICE).”
  • “The quickest way to become an old dog is to quit learning new tricks.”
  • “You’re wired to adapt, learn, and grow at any age.”

It really does come down to a mindset.

For example, do you have a computer? You know, those boxes with a built-in typewriter, TV screen, and scrolling device? Well, they’ve become pretty handy in these here modern times. So, I recommend you get one.

I’m kidding around to make a point. Once virtually everybody got a computer, a lot of old dogs who either had to learn new tricks or get left in the digital dirt.

Many baby boomers were in their late thirties and early forties when this paradigm sprang up. It’s hard to believe now, but many thought it was just a trend. And they didn’t buy into it. But many of those who adopted the new technology and decided to use it for all it was worth reaped substantial rewards. The personal computer and the internet gave a lot of old dogs access to a lot of awesome new tricks.

So, keep this in mind. If circumstances and health allow, you eventually DO get old.

Boomers are the latest generation to discover just how true that is.

But keep this in mind. You’re not a dog. You’re a human being made in the image and likeness of God.  Now, move away from those reactionary old habits and embrace new action steps.

Dreams are hidden right behind your eyes,
Every day and night a new surprise.

Just in case you think you’re an old dog and even your phone outsmarts you, here’s an audio book that can help you change that mindset.

Your email address is all it takes to get encouraging, regular issues of my TRUTH Journal. It comes directly to your inbox so you spend your valuable time reading instead of searching. And, to show my sincere appreciation for your time and attention, I’ll send you download links to 2 of my Christian books for kids and 2 songs, right away, that grownups AND kids can enjoy.

Background check online on that mom of mine

Nine years ago I added a little background check online (here on my website, to be precise) about a woman who played a somewhat important role in my life. My mom.

And when I say “background check online,” it’s just a figure of speech.

Because of course, I’d never do a background check, on my mom, online or anywhere else. C’mon, I am not a monster. I’m a man. (Did anybody see an elephant pass by just now)

Anyway. Here’s what I wrote that bears repeating today. Because yesterday was her birthday.

Seventy-seven years ago, today, a lady was born who could only wait until her teens to usher me into the world. She was born on the north side of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. And she met the guy who would become my Dad in the town of Norman only about fifteen or sixteen years later.

They were both Oklahoma natives. But once they met, their time in Oklahoma would be interrupted. Because my Dad signed up for a term in the Air Force. And he was soon stationed at Lowry Air Force base in the Denver, Colorado area.

And wouldn’t you know it, that’s where I began my quest for the Rocky Mountain way a few months later. But I digress. Because this isn’t about me. It’s my knuckle-headed way of saying “Happy Birthday Mom!”. My sister, Lori, just sent me a picture of Mom, at her desk, taken today. Yep, she has to work on her birthday. She helps another one of her sons, Bob, schedule appointments for his electric business. But they’re all taking her out to dinner tonight.

(at this point I shared a picture, but not this time)

So, through the power and magic of the internet, now the whole world knows who my Mom is. I’m sure there’ll be some parades and closures in Washington D.C. and other state capitols. But, for now, all is as it should be. A quiet, lucky double 7 birthday. She said someone told her a person’s gold birthday is when the birthdate is the same as the age. So she said she had her gold birthday when she was only 7. And now this must be her “gold dust birthday.”

Now, you know where I get my awesome sense of humor.

Anyway…this has been my humble little digital birthday card for Doris…who many know as Dorsie…but to whom my siblings and I say…

“Happy Birthday Mom!”

Six years and one month after I shared all that, Mom went to Heaven. So, this is her 4th birthday far away from all the pain and suffering she experienced for 83 years on Earth.

I can’t call her up and tell her in “real time.” But I’ll still say it, “Happy Birthday, Mom!” We’ll see each other again faster than we can imagine.

Boomer pharmacy is not the right legacy

I hope you avoid the boomer pharmacy like the plague (How do you like my ironic twist of a phrase, there?). If you’re not a boomer, then obviously that reference doesn’t apply to you. But no matter. Because whatever Gen this or Gen that you are, I hope you also avoid the pharmacy trap. My guess is, you won’t.

Tragically the boomer pharmacy already has too many members.

And I say it’s tragic because most of it could be avoided with some lifestyle changes and choices. Lest you think I exaggerate, check out these comments I found on social media today:

Your average baby boomer today has become a prescription drug zombie, on 4-5 pharmaceuticals daily just to function, according to new NHANES data. Is this what health is supposed to look like?

This Boomer had measles, mumps, chicken pox. Vax’s were few (only 3-4), and there were no 6 mo “wellness” visits to the doctor. We kids went to the doc only if we were sick or broke a bone. No one had allergies, autism, ADHD, etc. Just awful what “health care” has become.

I think the reason Boomers started looking awful at 54 is because most of them smoked, never thought much about their diet, and certainly never had an exercise regimen. Younger people have more information about health now and can avoid the fate of the Boomer body with some effort.

Speaking of Medicare I recently read wherein Medicare projections by 2030, up to 70% of hospital beds will be aging Boomers w/ need for chronic pain care, after aging into pained bodies from skilled trades WHY would pain care need to be inpatient?? Serious question?

Boomers do this all the time to downplay vaccine harms and US food being poisoned. “I [did thing] and I turned out fine.” Meanwhile they’re on a cocktail of pharma drugs and getting rapidly worse each year.

There were also a few positive comments.

I’m 62. In some of the best shape of my life. Some of us have been awake a LONG time, not buying what the mainstream is selling. And I’ve been around long enough to see the patterns that got a lot of people in a very precarious place.

I pride myself on being 60+ years old, with; no vax, never sick, no alcohol, no sweets, active, no prescriptions, super healthy diet. Most of my friends have all kinds of issues. Not me.

I’ve been in this fitness game for over 27 yrs. I got started as life happened. Went from fit to fat. People ask “what’s ya diet.” I don’t. I eat real whole foods. And I pay attn to how foods affect my body and adapt. In my 60s, fatty-fish & chicken rule.

I have lived cleanly as possible since the 70s. I don’t use any meds and I am 70, college weight, good BP, AIC. And I don’t use drugs, ETOH, Benzos, SSRIs. I walk, exercise, meditate and foster gratitude and joy. And I am mostly immune to psyops and live well. Discipline and gratitude go a long way toward health.

There you have it.

You can make your regular trips to the boomer pharmacy. Or you can take your walks in the fresh air and sunshine. And you can shovel frankenfood into your mouth every day. Or you can choose whole foods that haven’t been bastardized with ingredients you can’t pronounce. Junk you surely wouldn’t put in your body if you could see what it is and what it does.

Elgielene went through a health coach course a few years ago. And the doctor who presented repeated a message of how your health can improve at any age and at any stage. But you have to decide where you’ll put your money. In the boomer pharmacy? Or in good food and better choices?

And the best choice you can make is to trust your Maker. Keep in mind:

No one deserves your healing Lord.
But you deserve our praise.
Your great name and your Word
Will lift us up and fill our days,
If we will look to you for strength
And courage to declare
The love and Truth about You
Found in Jeremiah’s prayer.

(from my song Jeremiah’s Prayer)

One week in (as of tomorrow). So how did 2025 start out for you?

Has one week in been healthy?

I hope so. Because you need your health. It’s not just something that’s nice to have around. It’s the core essential to anything you do. But, as I’ve said for decades, your health is best served by YOU.

So, put down that diet cola (super awful for you) and repeat after me. I want to be healthy. ( I want to be healthy). I need to be healthy (are you repeating after me?). If I’m not healthy, I’m no good to anyone (say it…it’s true). And when I’m healthy, I can overcome blocks in my mind, body, and work.

OK. Do you believe it? Great. Because that’s where REAL healthcare starts.

That stuff trying to pass itself off as healthcare ain’t gonna cut it. And I’m talkin’ about the lunacy found in 99% of doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies. Those places have a vested interest in (meaning it serves their pocketbooks) “maintaining your health.” Which is just a code phrase to cover their methods of medicating your symptoms.

Yeah, they’ll give you stuff to make you FEEL better. But nothing to make you actually better.

So, believe and chew on this. You eat fast food everyday. You don’t exercise. And you definitely don’t drink enough water. Or even when you’re drinking it, it’s mixed with tea or coffee. And you think you can take your little one-a-day so-called “vitamins” and keep the bad times away.

Nope, that’s gonna keep you firmly entrenched in the status quo.

You gotta work hard to stay well. People depend on you to be and do your best. And when you constantly struggle with your health, it’s stressful on you AND them.

Did you ever see that commercial where a guy didn’t know how to get dressed or make breakfast or even get in his car? And it urned out that he gave up smoking. So, he had to re-learn how to do everything without a cigarette in his hand.

Don’t be like that guy. Live well. Be well. Stay well. Start now. Be happy. Grin. It’s good for you. And you’ll keep your mind free to think up and do great things for you AND your loved ones.

We’re still only one week in to 2025.

So, this is still the easiest time to track your progress and make your moves. My hope for you (and me) is that persistence plays a bigger role. And better self care choices produce better results.

I wrote this for kids. But it applies to all us so-called “grownups.”

Healthy Habits Are For Kids

Little things you do each day
Help to keep the blues away.
Jumping when you get a chance…
Doing a delightful dance…
Picking toys up off the floor
Before you head out your front door…
Drinking smoothies colored green
Not those colas with caffeine…
Smiling when you’d rather frown…
Walking like a ten foot clown…
Splashing puddles in the rain…
Whistling like an old steam train…
I could just go on and on,
But I’d surely make you yawn.
So, I guess that’s all today.
Now, go chase those blues away.

You have enough to think about today. So, don’t add tomorrow’s worries to today. And that’s not just some anecdotal thing I came up with. It’s advice that can also be found in red letters in the Bible. (for those of you unfamiliar with the Bible, red letters are used when it’s Jesus talking)

Yeah, your Creator actually said you have enough to think about today.

But think about tomorrow for a second or two. It never really gets here. Right? It’s always “out there.” Somewhere beyond the next sunrise. Somewhere in the future. The future is coming. Always getting here. But it never actually gets here either. Because that slippery tomorrow always manages to fade away from your grasp the second the clock strikes midnight.

So, today is the only day you can actually do anything about. Tomorrow isn’t here yet, and yesterday is over and done with. And, since today is the only time you actually live in, shouldn’t your focus be on what you can do today? Of course, that should be a rhetorical question. But sadly too many people are so fearful of what the future holds they let today slip away.

And when today slips away, what does it become? Tomorrow? Nope. It immediately becomes yesterday. A saying I coined many years ago is this: “Today is yesterday’s tomorrow and tomorrow’s yesterday.” I’ve seen a lot of people use some version of it. But I never see any royalties.

Life ain’t fair I tell ya.

Anyway…

Time is really a weird thing, isn’t it? When Jesus said “do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things“, it was to illustrate how futile it is to worry about tomorrow. So futile, in fact, that we should let tomorrow worry about itself. Hmm…can a tomorrow do that? Well, I’ve certainly got enough to think about today. So, I’m not gonna worry about it. How about you?

The things you want to do
Are plans that just fall through.
The pieces just don’t fit.
You lose them bit by bit.
Oh, and it’s just so hard to see
Why tomorrow never ever came to me.

(from a mournful song I wrote in 1978: Tomorrow Never Came To Me)

Every year, there are highly effective assassins paid off roughly 500 million, in your tax dollars, to make sure innocent, preborn babies never see the light of day.

Yeah, that group is well- organized, well-funded, and well-equipped to kill over 300,000 little children every year. Let’s face it. They get the job done. So, why would anybody wanna rock that boat? Especially when it means men and women can live promiscuously without consequences.

I guess calling them paid assassins is just mean on my part.

About 10 years ago I wrote about how Jesus said we should let our charitable deeds be done in secret. Well, it really shouldn’t be difficult to see how killing unborn children hardly falls under the category of charitable deeds. But, I think the group, ironically named “Planned Parenthood”, believes they’re doing charitable work because they’re somewhat secretive about their deeds.

Wouldn’t it be great if politicians, especially those who say they’re against abortion, made sure that no one ever got paid off again for killing innocent, unborn children?

But what does it take to stop that from happening?

First, please speak up. Use whatever means you have. Because saying and doing nothing will make sure that “legal precedent” continues to cast its dark shadow over what’s right.

Then, don’t support any politician or candidate who would support the abortion status quo.

Sadly, I don’t think many will take my advice. Because the paid off worldview is so darn convenient. Well, maybe not for the unborn children. But, hey, as long as there are no other consequences, then it’s just the price of doing business. Right?

It’s a worldview that’s not for me and you.
It’s a worldview and no empirical thoughts.
Yeah, it’s a worldview. What’s a humanist to do?
Don’t you see you could be in tougher spots?
You gotta be mindful where you cast your lots.
It’s a worldview.

(from my song “Worldview”)

It was four years ago, to the day, today. And a few minutes ago I ran across something I shared that day. I can see it, in my mind’s eye, almost as clearly as if I were looking right at it right now. And that’s even though my location is about as different, now, as night is from day.

I talked about how I was using my iPhone as my computer that morning, in sync with my small, foldable, bluetooth keyboard. And I had my computer, oops iPhone, propped up nicely on a little “drawer” in the dash of my mobile office which was my little blue Toyota truck.

First I paid homage to the day with a short description.

So, I mentioned how I could see a fairly long stretch of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Blue skies, snow-capped peaks, and a few swatches of white clouds drifting by.

It was an early winter day in the early part of 2021. And, yep, January 3rd to be exact. I appreciated the fact that I could sit there soaking in the scenery AND share it with you on my small, portable devices. What a blessing, in a never-ending series of blessings that come with living in the digital age.

And I called ’em blessings as I pointed to a day, not all that long ago in the past, when none of that would have been possible. NONE! But these days you can share ideas, images, words, music, and even videos literally with the world. Almost instantaneously.

Skip the publisher’s rules and arbitrary methods. Skip the hassles of waiting for printing and binding and distribution. And skip the need for bulky, loud, and unreliable equipment.

Yeah, these days you just whip out the little device you carry with you all the time, open up your favorite word processor or video recorder, and blast out your thoughts.

And here’s what’s especially cool about all this.

The information and resources to do all this have been here on our little blue planet since the day it was made.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Yeah, every single thing you and I ever needed, to be able to type words on a little keyboard and have them show up on a small screen (connected through the air) has been here our whole lives. And for the whole history of the world.

The only thing lacking, until this time in history was the know-how. An understanding of what does what.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of why God tells us to get understanding. Matter of fact, He says “in all your getting, get understanding.” But He adds a caveat just before that when He says “Wisdom is the principal thing. Therefore get wisdom.”

And that’s because humans tend to have an uncanny knack for messing up a good thing. So many people immediately look for (or stumble into) a way to corrupt or pervert the very things that make their lives better and easier. And it’s almost impossible to avoid being one of those people without wisdom.

But that’s not you and me. Right?

No, I’m sure you’re just as much in awe over the ability to have a tiny, mobile office as I am. And I’m sure you wanna use your technology and gifts and talents to help others get and maintain an eternal perspective on life.

If so, I encourage you to look for opportunities to serve others. Starting today, if you haven’t already. And help them get to the day when they understand. And realize how they wouldn’t be able to enjoy any entertainment or business applications on their smartphones, laptops, or TV’s, if God hadn’t put all the information here in the first place.

Okay, for today, look for wisdom from The Way.
And you can then do more of what God wants you to.
Your eyes, on the prize, will help you to recognize
God makes no mistakes. So, we have all that it takes
For days, full of praise. Never-ending life-filled days.

Biblical knowledge don't need no college

Play

Biblical knowledge is available to anyone who’s interested in finding out more. And the key points, and truth, of the Bible are easy enough to understand that even a child can learn about the love of our Creator. And that’s more important to know and understand than anything else anyone will ever learn.

Good thing Biblical knowledge isn’t being kept under a basket somewhere.

Thankfully, Biblical knowledge is still boldly shared all over the internet. At least it is here in America. I’m sure other places in the world still “allow/tolerate” it. But, as an example of what’s shared here in America, I saw some interesting comments on social media today. Like this one:

“One of the biggest lies in society and unfortunately even in much of the church, is that everyone is basically good, rather than the biblical truth that there is NONE who are good except Jesus. That everyone is deserving of hell. That’s why a lot of what the Bible calls sin is justified, because people think – ‘well he’s a good person, why shouldn’t he be happy and allowed to be gay’ etc. This thinking leads to a lack of fear of the Lord, as well as a lukewarm passion for Jesus and a lack of absolute thankfulness that He saved us!!”

And that guy shared that post in response to a quote, by Jonathan Edwards, another guy shared. The quote is, “Almost every natural man that hears of hell flatters himself that he shall escape it.” And the guy who shared the quote added, “Don’t flatter yourself.”

Good point.

Another post I saw showed wisdom and discernment you only get with Biblical knowledge. A young woman shared this, “Parents in Canyon, Texas call it a win after the Bible is allowed back in the school’s library. But if the school spends 7-8 hours every day teaching an anti-biblical worldview, what did they win? Christians should take their CHILDREN out of the secular, Marxist government schools. That’s how you win.”

Yes, it is.

And then, you’ll get plenty of the convoluted Biblical knowledge, too. Like this post from someone who uses the handle, Biblical and Reformed (red flag alert). This person simply quoted from scripture in order to justify an incorrect predestination position. He posted, “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom He predestined, He also called. And those whom He called, He also justified, and those whom He justified, He also glorified.”

I remember having a discussion with my mom, many moons ago, about how her idea that everything that happens was pre-ordained by God. And she found that very scripture and read it to me. So, I asked her one simple question.

“Mom, who did God NOT foreknow?”

And then I asked her to apply the implications of the answer to that question to her predestination position. I saw the light flicker in the eyes of her understanding. But then, just as quickly, I saw the regurgitation of all those years of flawed Biblical knowledge flood back into her head.

Last, but not least, for now.

I saw a post that dared to say the TV series, “Yellowstone isn’t just a show it’s a blueprint for what it means to be a real man. This modern Western dives deep into masculinity, responsibility, and legacy. Let’s break it down through a biblical lens and see what every man can learn from the Duttons.” Ay yi yi!

I’ve never watched that show, but video snippets pop up all over the place. And they almost alway include a LOT of profanity and sexualized content. But the guy who posted that followed up with what he considers supportive info. Like this post, “If you’re a Christ follower, you can spot Christ in the series and movies get ready for some powerful lessons.”  (his writing, not mine)

And that just ain’t so. Because it’s not Biblical or Christ-like to do so many anti Christ things but add a “redemptive” twist and call it good.

I know my Biblical knowledge doesn’t have the mass appeal of what passes for knowledge in the pop culture. But I’m totally confident that Jesus doesn’t think Yellowstone is a good show for Christians to watch.

Look, I get it. It’s good to see strong (even “white”) men portrayed in this day and age when soy boys rule so much. But I recommend your role models be Jesus, Paul, and the other patriarchs of the Bible.

So, maybe you don’t need any of this info. If that’s the case, then, as they say in Poland, Nessun problema. Continua con la tua giornata, ci sentiamo più tardi.

A Thousand Times, NO

Everything is for a reason.
God is in control.
Everything He turns to good
For His higher goal.
So do you want to thank Him for
Destruction and despair?
Is He the author of confusion?
You see it everywhere…

(from my song, A Thousand Times, NO)

What I’m about to share probably isn’t for you. But I can almost guarantee it’s good for someone you know or care about. It’s something I shared with others a few years ago. And I asked them this question: If I told you to leave your troubles behind and move forward, what would you do? Get mad at me and say “NO!” Would you tell me I can’t possibly understand your troubles, so I don’t have the right to tell you such a thing? Well, what if I told you this message is from God? Would you say yes, then?

Well, it IS a message from God. So get ready to say yes.

Yeah, read the New Testament. I promise it won’t hurt. And it’ll show you how no one gets through this life without troubles. In fact, Jesus himself said there WILL be tribulation (which is big trouble) in this life. He didn’t say maybe there will be. He said there WILL be!

So, does that mean you respond with exasperation, frustration, or consternation? Nay. Nay. And again I say nay. On the contrary. It’s much better (in fact, it’s freedom) to leave your troubles behind and keep “reaching forward for those things which are ahead.” Time only moves in one direction. And that’s the direction to focus.

That’s what I shared with those others a few years ago.

Now. Today is the first day of a brand new year (2025). So, it’s an ideal (because nothing’s perfect) day to say yes to moving forward with your feet and mind planted firmly in the here and now. Because the here and now are the only place and time you can actually DO anything. The past is gone. And the future doesn’t exist.

So, Happy New Year, and leave your troubles behind. Because it’s the right thing to do. And it’s healthful for you.

Keep your eyes on the prize. And, just to reaffirm, that prize is your Creator. I wrote (and then rewrote) a song about moving forward with action and confidence. In a way it’s the most selfish sounding song I’ve ever written. Because Every. Single. Line. starts with I’m. But it’s actually filled with the exhilaration you can get when you trust God.

I’m Gonna

I’m gonna dance through this life.
I’m gonna sing myself out of the blues.
I’m gonna feel this whole world.
I’m gonna walk through the air without any shoes.

I’m gonna climb to the top.
I’m gonna see what it’s like on the other side.
I’m gonna glide to the moon.
I’m gonna jump on a cloud and go for a ride.

I’m gonna leave my cares and troubles far behind.
I’m gonna live this brand new life that I’ve designed.
I’m gonna love discovering which way to go.
I’m gonna laugh and then say yes instead of no.

I’m gonna get to the passion.
I’m gonna make my dreams all come true.
I’m gonna go for the limit.
I’m gonna burst the limit and go on through.

I’m gonna sing through this life.
I’m gonna play it loud like a brand new song.
I’m gonna fly on the tune.
I’m gonna ask all my friends to come on along.

I’m gonna leave my cares and troubles far behind
I’m gonna live this brand new life that I’ve designed?
I’m gonna love discovering which way to go.
I’m gonna laugh and then say yes instead of no.

Last day of the year and it’s great to be here

Here it is again. The last day of the year. Some day has to be that day every year. And today is that day. But who cares? Right? Because it sure ain’t the last of the last.

The last day of the year is like any other day.

Every day is literally the first day of the rest of your life. So, the last day of the year is also a new first day. I know. Mighty deep thoughts for a humble little December 31. But I can’t help it. Deep thoughts ebb and flow through my brain waves like shades of blue and green waves across a sugar-white sandy Florida beach.

And here’s something C.S. Lewis said that I really like on the subject of time.

“There are better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

I wish that were true for everyone. But some people are just hellbent on denying themselves that hope and pleasure. So sad that they’d rather be their own king (or queen) than worship the only true, living, loving Creator of Heaven and Earth and the universe.

Anyway…

I hope this last day of the year is the first day you need and want it to be. And I wish that for your next first day which will, of course, be the first day of 2025. How about you and I find even more ways to connect. Especially with people who love and trust Jesus. That’s the ultimate measure of success. And as for 2024…

“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss

And…

If you see a fiery flame against the midnight sky,
Or just a tiny sparkle in the corner of your eye,
It might be me because I’m sailing through the stars.
I’ll turn and wave when I pass Mars.

I fly…till tangled thoughts untie
Up where my dreams are all true blue.
So high…ideas electrify
And charge a perfect point of view.

(from my song Perfect Point of View)

We will not comply and the Truth is our why

We will not comply. That’s a trending topic on X (aka: Twitter) this morning. Of course, that sentiment is appropriate so I clicked on the link to see what was being said about it. And the first thing I saw was a short video of President-Elect Trump saying those very words.

“Hear these words. We will not comply!”

Then he followed that up with, “So don’t even think about it. We will not shut down our schools (too bad about that part, but anyway), we will not accept your lockdowns, we will not abide by your mask mandates. And we will not tolerate your vaccine mandates. We will not let it happen. When I’m back in the White House, I will use every available authority to cut federal funding any school, college, airline, or public transportation system that imposes a mask mandate or a vaccine mandate. Thank you very much.”

And Mr. Trump has to make that clear because you still have despicably selfish people, like CNN’s Leana Wen, spouting off things like the unvaccinated should not be allowed to leave their homes. But she does make allowances. She said, “You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want. But then you can’t go out in public.”

Despicable. And selfish.

While I disagree with Mr. Trump on how to run a country wisely, I admire his willingness to take this stand. And it’s so much better to have a president who stands with the ones who say “we will not comply” than to have whatever that was that took up space in the White House the past four years. That knot on a rotting log with a brain full of fog.

Truth is the reason it’s important to be non-compliant on this.

And the truth of how their so-called cures of mask and vaccine mandates actually destroyed (and continue to destroy) lives is found in a mountain of evidence. Only the willfully ignorant would continue to believe the lies. But that’s what most people on Earth will do. So, it’s not a revelation to see it happen with this virus lie. I hope you agree that…

We will not comply
With the stupid virus lie.
Truth helps us to see
And will always make us free.
Mandate what you will
But your selfishness won’t kill
Hope that lies within
And protects us from your sin.

Life goes on way past your last dawn

Your significance is measured by the highest standard in existence. God’s love. He created you in His image. And He created you, and gave you this life, on purpose. Your life goes on even after you’re gone from this world.

So, your life has meaning. And you won’t fully understand or comprehend it this side of Heaven.

But, for now, just know that life goes on.

Or just the existence of your soul goes on. It’s gonna be one or the other. One is in Heaven. The other? Not so much.

But YOU are going to Heaven. Right? So, that whole eternal bodiless soul existence in torment isn’t on your radar.

But maybe you know someone (or multiple someones) who seem like they’re on the, as AC/DC puts it, Highway to Hell. And yes, hell is real. Despite what some might tell you about it being a place Christians made up to scare you into believing in our God. Nope. That ain’t the truth.

Anyway…

…I’d like to suggest that you look for opportunities to show people who don’t trust Jesus that they’re not here as a result of trillions of beneficial mutations. Show them this life is overflowing with purpose. And the main purpose is to get to know the One who made them so they can have overflowing life that goes on FOREVER.

Faith comes by hearing. And for some people, if they don’t hear it from you, they might never hear it. Then, they might start to think the way this guy did in a poem I wrote fifty years ago…

Ashes In A Breeze

Where was I when I thought this up?
I was staring into a coffee cup.
I thought I’d write the things I felt
So the cold inside my heart would melt.
I’m a peaceful man…I love the world,
And once or twice I’ve kissed a girl.
I lead a life that carries on,
But something’s missing. Something’s wrong.

I’ve looked into ashtrays before
And never really thought anything,
But now I see the ashes inside,
And they represent everything.

My life is passing by like ashes in a breeze.
It’s like there is no meaning…perhaps I’m hard to please.

Ashes in a breeze…
Sounds like a phrase I’ve heard before,
But emptiness stays with me.
It fits me more and more.
And more and more I’m looking
Into empty coffee cups…
Seeing a reflection and trying to wake up.
If I should ever make
Another meaning for myself,
I’ll erase the cruel reflection,
And put the cup back on the shelf.
