When I was a mere lad, back in the ol’ country (America, pre-lamebrainian era), the only people who had tattoos were some servicemen and hardcore bar rats. And you just didn’t see the average Joe or Jane with that “unspeakable” everlasting art on their bodies. Fast forward into the present, and Katy bar the door.

Everlasting skin art is everywhere.

Men. Women. Young. Old. All skin shades. Doesn’t matter. And the more, the badder (Huey Lewis got it right when he said “sometimes bad is bad.”)

Just to clarify a bit. I’m not sayin’ that you’re bad if you have a tattoo. But I am saying I don’t believe it makes a statement anymore. When “everybody’s doin’ it,” you no longer stand out to do it.

OK, I’ll leave that there for naysayers to stew on. Because I’d rather finish up this post with some lyrics I wrote about the best work of art you can possess. If you’re not a current owner, I urge you to update that status, posthaste.

Everlasting Everywhere

I want the Everlasting Work Of Art;
Not just on canvas, but engraved in the heart
I need the Everlasting Scale Of Worth.
That’s the only Way to perfect peace on earth.

Everlasting and everywhere…
He’s Everlasting and everywhere

I look for Everlasting holy clues
To steel myself through all this negative news
I dream the Everlasting wide-eyed stuff,
But I’m still aware that dreaming’s never enough

Everlasting and everywhere…
He’s Everlasting and everywhere

You seek the answers to the mysteries of life
But how much truth can you handle
And as for me, well, there is only One Fire
That lights the flame on my candle

Everlasting and everywhere…
He’s Everlasting and everywhere

I look to the Everlasting Guiding Star
To make my path straight as I travel so far
I sing the Everlasting song of man;
Teach us to understand our place in the plan

Everlasting and everywhere…
He’s Everlasting and everywhere

Everlasting comfort found where your soul could sure abound

Some people think there are many mysteries of life. Those people never seem to find satisfactory answers to their burning questions. I have. And it brings me everlasting comfort.

Maybe you think talk about everlasting comfort is just wishful thinking.

But maybe it isn’t.

And when I say “maybe it isn’t,” I mean, it isn’t.

I hope you’re not one of those who says true science never really finds the answers. Because seeking and processing new information can lead to answers. Not just endless questions.

But you won’t be able to make sense of anything, if you can’t know that you can know.

In fact, if you can’t truly know anything, you might even begin to question your own existence. And that’s a self-defeating whirlpool of thought. And so pointless. (real people actually do that, by the way)

If you can read this, you can think new thoughts. And if you can form pictures in your mind based on words, you can communicate. And even if you can only communicate questions, you exist. I promise.

More importantly, you’re not here accidentally. You’re a created being. Created by the living, loving God who created everything. He is the answer to all the mysteries of life. And He loves you if you’ll let Him. I recommend it. Because when you do, you’ll experience that everlasting comfort I mentioned earlier. Because He is the…

Mercy in the morning means there are no in-betweens

Start your day with mercy in the morning.
Walk in joy and love and peace.
Live your life in ardent adoration
Of the Lamb with perfect fleece.

In the Psalms you might discover what’s called a “michtam”. I’ve seen that defined as either a “special song” or even “golden”. Either way, it’s used to describe something very precious. This morning I read Psalm 56 because of a certain verse-of-the-day application I use. I found something interesting…

…a combination of justice and mercy in the morning.

Psalm 56, like most of the Psalms, is attributed to King David of Israel. And according to the subhead just before the verses, it’s written about the “assured judgment of the wicked”. So, for an unbeliever there might seem to be some contradiction between judgment and mercy. But they’re two sides of the same coin, and they both come from a living, loving God.

It’s like this…an earthly parent might punish a child for doing something wrong, and yet reward that same child the same day for a job well done. But both acts originate in love. And if you love your children, your husbands and wives, your neighbor, you must balance rewards and punishments. So, you gotta be willing to show mercy in the morning…just as your Creator shows you.

A living, loving God shows great “mercy in the morning” to those who love Him, when He judges and punishes the wicked. Don’t be mislead. Wickedness and evil are real. They’re not merely concepts dreamt up by “Bible thumpers” to get others to follow their rules.

I want you to know the great and eternal love I know.

I’m talking about the love that can only exist in a relationship with your Creator. If you haven’t checked into it yet, don’t wait another day. Today is the only day you have. Yesterday is gone forever, and tomorrow might be too late. All you need to do is ask God to come into your heart and change you. He says “ask and it will be given to you“. Then you’ll experience the great mercy of never-ending mornings…never-ending life.

Message of the Cross

Tony Funderburk Posted on October 2, 2013 by TonyFebruary 27, 2025
The Message of the Cross is salvation to those who humble themselves and believe.

If you’re one of those people choosing to go your own way…even into the eternal future…the message of the cross (found in Christian teaching) probably sounds silly to you.

The Message of the Cross is salvation to those who humble themselves and believe.

Maybe you think Christians are fools to follow such “antiquated teachings”. Well, here’s a shocker for you…you’re right!

You’re right…if Christians are wrong. Let me put it this way. If I’m following a worldview based on myths and legends and out-of-date information…if I’m dedicated to a lie…I’m a fool. And I’ll just have to deal with the consequences of following this silly ideology.

But here’s the catch. The opposite is true, too. If you’re dedicated to a worldview that’s in opposition to Christianity…and if Christianity proves to be true…then you’re the fool.

The message of the cross is simple. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” Let me share my simple-minded take on that. I believe it’s true. I want it to be true. I need that Truth.

So does every other human being on the planet. They just don’t all know it…or, for that matter, seem to even care. Most people aspire to attain their own “perfection”…their own “paradise”…their own salvation. They believe they’ll achieve enough “wisdom” to do so.

My recommendation is this…don’t waste your life in quest of perfection. Instead, seek the One who IS perfect and has made a way for you to live with Him in paradise forever. Don’t waste time looking for signs and wonders. Instead seek a relationship with your Creator…a relationship overflowing with love.

What’s the worst that could happen? Seriously…let me know what you think is the worst that could happen?

In Christian Love”
