On any given day, I’ll speak to you “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in (my) heart to the Lord.” Because I’m a big picture guy.
By the way, that quote was from what Paul told the Ephesians. And if ever a guy could’ve complained instead of sing, it was him. But he was a big picture guy, too. He knew that this life we live here and now is not worthy to even be compared to what is yet to come.
You can also look at life from this perspective, every person on the planet has a faulty heart condition. You might not live with a physically congenital problem, like I do. But from the moment you were born your heart needed regeneration. And that only comes from the ultimate physician. You needed (or might still need) a transfusion of new blood. And Jesus went through horrible suffering and torment to provide His for you.
Because He’s the everlasting big picture guy.
Not a guy like you and me, naturally. It’s just a title I used to make a connection.
Anyway…
There’s a Psalm in the Bible that says “my flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever“. It sounds like it contradicts itself. But it’s talking about two hearts. Your physical heart, which eventually gives out. And the very core of your existence. God fills your core so that you live forever. If you want and ask Him to.
For the health of your physical heart, get up and move around more. Eat sensibly. Get lots of sunshine, fresh air, and good water. Be a big picture guy (or girl) so you can be useful to God as long as physically possible.
Then, make time to dive into the living, loving Word of God. The picture doesn’t get any bigger than that.
All His work is done.
It’s done in perfect Truth.
And we’ll live, if we walk in His light. (from my song, Your Word Is True) © 2010 TF
