Too much trouble from that hot air bubble

Is it too much trouble to ask politicians to just shut up and stop tryin’ to fix things that ain’t broke? Yeah, some of my Texas slang grammar is rearin’ up. But dagnabit, I’m serious. Can’t they just shut up?! And is it too much trouble for them to just leave us alone? It’s like they just ain’t happy ‘less they’re meddlin’ in your bizness. … The rest of the story…

Colorado River run - skip the ride, enjoy the fun

I watched a video, yesterday, of a couple who were enjoying a walk through Clifton, Colorado. It’s more or less an extension of Grand Junction. And it sits between that city and Palisade, Colorado. (side note: if you’ve never had Palisade peaches, your life is not complete) The couple videoed the view as they talked about what they were enjoying along the way. They … The rest of the story…

50 years ago, today, a tiny rocket flew away

According to one source I just read, it’s officially 50 years ago, today, since Elton John released Rocket Man. And I remember playing the album, Honky Chateau, over and over on one of my drives from Kansas to Texas. That could very well have had something to do with why so many people thought I sounded so much like Elton. Of course, that’s where … The rest of the story…

When the going gets tough, who's tough enough?

When the going gets tough…you know the rest. Right? Yeah, the tough are nowhere to be found. Just kidding (mostly). When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Once upon a time there was this world. And it was good. And beautiful. Pure. But fast forward about 6,000 years…and we have THIS world. And it’s not so good. It’s messed up. And purity … The rest of the story…

On The Border of law and order

1975 was a very good year for The Eagles. Matter of fact, on this date, March 1, of that year, their song “Best of My Love became the first of five hit songs off their “On The Border” album. And I remember singing along with ’em. It wasn’t my favorite Eagles album, by far, but it was pretty good. I guess I’d say “On … The rest of the story…

Bluer than blue should not be for you

A river runs through it. Connect the dots. The ties that bind. And it’s a small world. However you wanna say it, there are so many interweaving threads in human life. I’d like to share a bluer than blue story with you to show you what I mean. And maybe it won’t mean a thing to you. But, to me, it clearly illustrates what … The rest of the story…

Ukrainian music for protest. Is that what works best?

I’m not a fan of Ukraine. Or any other country in the world, at this time, for that matter. But I read a short article about how Ukrainian music is being used to pump up the people. And I listened to a couple of clips. The Ukrainian music I heard certainly sounded strong. I don’t know what the words said. But the harmonies were … The rest of the story…

Work for free and let's wait and see

You know what I’d like to see? Everybody has to work for free and everything is free. Wouldn’t that solve a lot of problems? Or maybe all of them? Or should it be just the goofy singer songwriters and other artists who should work for free? Call me crazy (yeah, crazy like a porcupine), but that doesn’t seem balanced, fair, equitable, or even sustainable to … The rest of the story…

Cast down but not destroyed leaves me overjoyed

Let’s say, for the sake of argument (<< figure of speech), that you feel like the whole world is closing in on you. And let’s say that you listen to and watch “news,” but the more you see and hear, the more confusing it is. And, finally, let’s say it all makes you feel generally cast down in this world. Here’s how a couple … The rest of the story…

Everlasting comfort found where your soul could sure abound

Some people think there are many mysteries of life. Those people never seem to find satisfactory answers to their burning questions. I have. And it brings me everlasting comfort. Maybe you think talk about everlasting comfort is just wishful thinking. But maybe it isn’t. And when I say “maybe it isn’t,” I mean, it isn’t. I hope you’re not one of those who says … The rest of the story…
