Christmas song for all year long

Merry Christmas. And I hope you have an awesome New Year’s Eve and 2023. Here’s a Christmas song I wrote that I believe is a good message for any and all days of the year. (lyrics are in the video and below)

Here’s the link if you don’t automatically see the video: (https://youtu.be/zdcDUknj9NM)

(FYI: there’s a short blurb at the end of the video that says you can get this song and two others when you jump on the The TRUTH. That’s my email list. But those songs aren’t currently available. Other songs ARE still included when you subscribe.)

Here are the lyrics to this Christmas song…

I Believe In The God of Christmas
Some believe there’s just today…
And then we die and fade away…
Such a sad and hopeless life to lead.

Others say we never die…
We all live on above the sky…
Disregard the theft and hate and greed.

But I believe in the God of Christmas,
I believe in His Gift to us all,
And I believe that He died to save us
And that He rose to recover our fall.
Yes I believe in the God who loves us,
And I believe in the God who lives,
Yes I believe in the God of Christmas.
He gave His love, and He still freely gives.

One day soon we just may find
So many millions left behind
In a world where truth is torn apart.
Then no lights, no Christmas trees…
No arts and no humanities…
Will bring peace to any broken heart.

The one day about The Way

It’s the one day of the year when the world is as close to peace on Earth as we’re gonna get. And even then, it’s light years away from true peace on Earth.

So, how’s that for starting out with happy thoughts?

But it actually IS good news for anyone who’s interested in Truth. And I think that’s why Christmas has been such a HUGE deal here in America. We’re a nation founded on Christian principles even though we’ve strayed so far away it doesn’t seem like it anymore. But I still know the reason for the season. And it’s why I write and sing songs about it.

Christmas Is The One Day

You wake up on Christmas
And find that the whole world’s dressed in Grace,
A whole different place.

It’s only on Christmas
And no other day rings half as true
It’s ringin’ for you.

And Christmas is the one day
When God became a man…
When Peace on earth began…
And ended…so fast.

But Christmas is the one day
The hope can rise again…
Inside the hearts of men…
So why don’t…we make…it last?

When you’re livin’ in Christmas
And keepin’ the Gift inside your heart,
It’s like a new start.

There’s nothing like Christmas
To give you back what you gave away.
So, tell me, what do you say…?

Chorus

It’s not about your riches
That will leave you when you die.
It’s the Love of The Creator
That should keep your spirit high.

Optimistic voice for the only PRO choice

The most serious issue facing our nation and the world isn’t fiscal. It’s physical. And it isn’t gun control or rock-n-roll. It’s mind control and your very soul. The most serious issue this world faces starts in the heart (which is not to be trusted, by the way, so don’t blindly follow your heart). But I want mine to be an optimistic voice in the middle of all the doom and gloom talk. Not to diminish the reality of the doom and gloom. But to be a reminder of the Hope we have.

Back in 2007 I put an optimistic voice to “The Belly Song.”

“The Belly Song” celebrates life. And how it begins in a belly, so to speak. Here’s the video I made for a song. It’s part of my music for kids. But adults have told me they get a kick out of it, too. And I hope you’ll enjoy the optimistic voice approach. Feel free to let me know, either way. Here ya go…

I dearly love that I’m alive. Don’t you? And I don’t take it for granted. Well, not all the time anyway. I get to think, live, laugh, and love. And I believe it’s every person’s right to have those same gifts.

Every person!

And every person started somewhere. It wasn’t in a hospital. Every person starts life in a mother’s womb. That’s one of the easiest things in the world to prove. Where things get muddy (for those who are easily confused) is how soon can we say a person is a person in the womb.

Personally, I have no problem saying a person is a person from their very beginning.

But maybe you can’t say for sure WHEN your personhood begins. You still know, without a doubt, WHERE it begins. And for now (despite the efforts of freaky so-called scientists) that’s still in a mother’s womb. And I know all it took for me to exist outside my mother’s womb was for everyone to leave me alone inside my mother’s womb. Mom and Dad and doctors and society let me get from point A to point B. No one chose to abort that life-affirming process.

Simplest biology lesson there is. Any questions?

I hope you’ll join me with your own optimistic voice and remember we ALL were belly babies. Once upon a time.

6/8 Time Doesn't Have To Rhyme

Norwegian Wood, by the Beatles. Scarborough Fair, by Simon and Garfunkel. We Are The Champions, by Queen. And even She’s Always A Woman, by Billy Joel. Those songs all have something in common. Do you know what it is? Well, I won’t make you guess. They’re all performed in 6/8 time.

And 6/8 time is one of the best for heart-felt emotion.

6/8 time is a meander, not a walk.
A delightful conversation, not a talk,
Where a heart’s not a heart, it’s the Master’s best art,
And why the rose is on the vine, not the stalk.

Probably all the best classical composers wrote music in 6/8 time at least once in their lifetimes. Because they understood the power contained in that gentle sway of notes.

One 6/8 song, I discovered to be a new favorite, is called “Song For Sienna,” by Brian Crain. Check it out in this YouTube video link:

See what I mean about the heart-felt emotion?

There isn’t a ton of instrumentation to Brian’s song. But the notes, combined with the time signature, pull you in. And, if you’re a musical note to word picture person (like me), you’ll take off right away.

But, as always, I’m not sharing this with you because I want to promote Brian Crain’s music. Because I don’t even know Brian. I have no idea if he’s a Christian. There’s no mention of it on his website. So, my guess is, he either isn’t, or he’s a middle-of-the-road “believer.”

And that doesn’t diminish the quality of “Song for Sienna.” I still like it very much. Because it’s a great example of how music, the second best gift from God (first being Jesus, of course) is the quintessential communication tool. I’m confident that God gave us music simply because it delighted Him to do so. And I hope, if you haven’t already decided God is real, and that He loves you, that you’ll do that today.

And enjoy the beauty of 6/8 time for all time.

Phosphorous glow and an angel below

I saw a beautiful picture, at around 3 a.m. today. And the beautiful, neon-like lights in the gentle waves of water got me thinking about what causes bioluminescence. I remembered how phosphorus paint glows in the dark. And I remembered how some explain the glow at the edge of the ocean, in the right lighting, as a phosphorous glow. But the picture showed so much blue. And the person who shared the pic titled it “Beauty of Bioluminescence.” So I did a little study on that.

Turns out, that kind of bioluminescence isn’t a phosphorous glow.

When I found information on this serene radiation, I noticed something VERY interesting. At least to me. And I’ll share what and why in a minute. First, here are a couple of quotes on the bioluminescence process:

“The metabolic reaction that combines the oxygen with a reducing substance (luciferin) liberates sufficient energy to excite a molecule in the organism to emit visible radiation.”

Then the article reiterated that point by saying, “In most bioluminescent organisms, the essential light-emitting components are the oxidizable organic molecule luciferin and the enzyme luciferase, which are specific for different organisms.”

So, did you pick up on what I found VERY interesting?

It’s the molecule, luciferin, and the enzyme luciferase. If you’re a Christian, or if you’ve ever studied the Christian faith, you probably recall that Satan was referred to as “an angel of light.” And you might also recall that Satan is also known as…wait for it…Lucifer.

Hmm…Lucifer, an angel of light. Coincidence? Or Divine predestination?

Neither. A pharmacologist, named Raphaël Dubois, named the molecule and the enzyme. And he called them luciferin and luciferase based on the Latin term “lucifer.” And that means, light bringer. How cool is that?!

Well, you know me. I don’t like to leave the descriptions to scientists and linguists. So, I composed an ode, of sorts, based on the beautiful picture (found in the glasses at the top of this article) AND the information on the subject of bioluminescence and phosphorus glow. I call it…

Luciferin Light

Bioluminescence, like diamonds in dreams,
The light is delightful, but not as it seems,
Where oxidization produces compounds,
Aqua light in the night that truly astounds.
“Luciferin emissions” sounds wicked, and yet,
They’re what occurs as we view this vignette.
Labyrinth liquid, one of many designs,
Establishes essence of brilliant blue lines,
And creates conundrums for science to solve.
But one thing’s for sure, it could never evolve.

Professional singer loses cool but at least he's no fool

I remember talking with my Grandmother, after my Granddaddy’s funeral, about my “singing career.” And I think it was after she heard my brother and me sing a couple of songs. She asked me what I planned to do with my singing abilities. And I told her I wanted to be a professional singer. And she said I should use my voice for “the Lord.”

But how can you be a professional singer and use your voice for the Lord?

That was my first thought. Because, back then, I didn’t know of anyone who made a living singing Christian or Gospel music. (Keep in mind, just because I didn’t know of any didn’t mean there weren’t any.)

So, I basically disregarded Grandmother’s advice. And I spent the next 25 years or so as a professional singer. I’d sort of use my voice “for the Lord.” But certainly not the way she meant it.

I had several near-misses with so-called “fame and fortune.” But I could never find the motivation to follow through on possible “recording deals.” Mostly because I thought the music industry was so weird. Why do creative types almost always have to be so weird?

Anyway…

As the years passed, the venues became less and less enjoyable. Until finally, one day, I decided not to pursue the typical music work anymore. And I decided to use my voice “for the Lord.” And I was right about one thing. It’s mostly difficult to impossible to do that AND make a living.

But that doesn’t mean you don’t do it. Because all the money you make, a lot or a little, stays here when you die anyway. What’s that saying…

There are no hearses pulling U-haul trailers?

One of the ways I have used my voice in recent years is to speak up or sing out about every little baby’s right to life. And I discovered that, when you do that, you quickly become persona non grata. So, the “beautiful people” of the world, the so-called “celebrity influencers” tend to keep their mouths shut about abortion.

But one of the “beautiful people” who has actually been paid to BE beautiful spoke up.

Here’s something Kathy Ireland, a former supermodel said.

“I was once pro-choice and the thing that changed my mind was, I read my husband’s biology books, medical books, and what I learned… At the moment of conception, a life starts. And this life has its own unique set of DNA, which contains a blueprint for the whole genetic make-up. The sex is determined. We know there is a life because it is growing and changing.”

Here’s a video where she used her voice to speak up for the tiniest human beings.

So, there’s proof that even some of the “beautiful people” can understand that even the tiniest person is a person. And that’s why I use my voice to talk and “sing for the Lord” and His little ones. And I encourage you to do the same.

Because He already spoke up for you.

One and only God is such a lightning rod

Most of the people of the world don’t believe in the one and only God of Christmas. And that’s a hopeless and futile existence. Whether they realize their hopelessness and futility or not.

And the God of Christmas is THE one and only God.

I know most of the people of the world find that to be an offensive and arrogant statement. And maybe it would be, if not for one thing. It’s absolutely true.

Because the evidence is all around you. God created the heavens and the earth. And God created you and me and every living creature and thing on the earth. So, God who knows every detail of what is best for us. If those things aren’t true, then there is no Truth. There’s nothing you can depend on except yourself.

And 7 billion opinions of what’s true is a recipe for chaos and confusion.

Have you noticed how much chaos and confusion there is in this world right now?

If you follow social media channels, you must have noticed. Because most people are looking for an answer to their hopelessness. But most refuse to believe their hope could lie in the person of Jesus. The most they’ll allow for is that He was just some Jewish carpenter who “possibly” lived 2,000 years ago. Be He couldn’t possibly be the one and only God of Christmas. And He certainly couldn’t be the hope of the world.

But He is.

You don’t have to believe that.

But one day you will. And if that day isn’t during your current time here on Earth, then it will be too late. You will have already chosen to be your own god. And you’ll rule and reign in a universe of one for eternity.

But it’s so avoidable.

This Christmas, get the gift that keeps on giving forever. And only one person can give it. That’s why…

I Believe In The God of Christmas

Some believe there’s just today.
And then we die and fade away…
Such a sad and hopeless life to lead.

Others say we never die.
We all live on above the sky…
Disregard the theft and hate and greed.

But I believe in the God of Christmas,
And I believe in His Gift to us all,
Yes, I believe that He died to save us
And that He rose to recover our fall.
Yes I believe in the God who loves us,
And I believe in the God who lives,
Yes I believe in the God of Christmas.
He gave His love, and He still freely gives.

One day soon we just may find
So many millions left behind
In a world where truth is torn apart.

And then no lights, no Christmas trees,
No arts and no humanities,
Will bring peace to any broken heart.
