Silly things kids do that they can sing along to

Elgielene and I never had kids. Not because we didn’t want them. But there were complications. And that’s another story I’m not gettin’ into right now. But I’ve had somewhere around 30 nieces and nephews to observe. So, I’ve seen enough silly things kids do to fill up an album. And I DID fill up an album about the silly things kids do. A … Read the rest…

Lariat Loop where the eagles swoop

It’s 33 miles in a round trip. And I read where it’s apparently America’s only “urban byway.” And that means it’s a scenic byway (on the National Register) closer to an urban area (Denver) than any other anywhere. And since it’s part of the “old west” it seems appropriate to call it the Lariat Loop. Not so long ago, we called the Lariat Loop … Read the rest…

Stop bugging me you fumble bumblebee

I hadn’t heard it in a while. But just a couple of days ago I heard it in a car next to me as I sat in a grocery store parking lot. A couple of kids, who weren’t adjusting the volume in their voices to compensate for the rolled-down windows, disagreed about something. And one said something I didn’t quite catch. But the other … Read the rest…

Horse songs are for all you hop-alongs

Horse songs tend to have catchy rhythms. I guess it’s because of the hoofbeats. *rimshot* Thanks folks. I’ll be here all week. Be sure to tip your bartender and waitresses. Yes, I said waitresses. Don’t git yer stirrups all tangled up, pawtnuh. So, here’s the reason I brung up horse songs. Yesterday, Elgielene and I watched a video of Kristi Noem speaking. Regardless of … Read the rest…

Doodles song is a messy sing-along.

Back in 2001 my wife and I started a sideline music business focused, at first, on personalized music for kids. And stores that carried my CD’s (remember those?) asked if we had other music for kids, too. So, I wrote and produced a collection of songs that included the names of the stores as titles for songs. I wrote a doodles song for the … Read the rest…

Remember the day of sailing away

Time flies. And time drags. And yet it’s all the same 24 hours every day. But circumstances are what can make those hours feel like they last forever. Or pass by in the blink of an eye. And events can happen to help you remember the day. Or cast it out of your head forever. It was 12 years ago, today, a little two … Read the rest…

Data loss prevention and user intervention

Get Outta Bed. Busy Day. Dinnertime. Your Own Song. Birthday Dance. And Dreamtown. Those are all songs that went out to thousands of kids and families. All over America. And even in several other parts of the world. For 20 years I’ve sold that personalized music for kids. But due to some data loss prevention, they’re gone. Maybe forever. The data loss prevention was … Read the rest…
