Whispers in the wind or separate a friend

Why would somebody use the phrase, “whispers in the wind?” I’d say it’s usually to illustrate futility or loss. And I’d also say, it’s an ideal way to get that point across.

Whispers in the wind have no chance of being heard.

But whispers spoken into itching ears? That’s a wind of a different color.

You’ve probably done it. Because I believe, on one level or another we all have. Maybe not viciously. Or even with devious intentions. But it’s a good way to lose friends.

And that’s not just my opinion. Have you read what God says about that kind of whispering? He says it “separates the best of friends.” Wow. Not just any old friend. Even your best friends. Imagine losing your best friend because you whispered something, you shouldn’t have, about them to someone else.

When you consider how short your time is, here on Earth, is that whisper worth it?

In case you’re undecided on your answer to that question, let’s go to THE authority.

God says when somebody does something wrong to you, go and tell them. If they say they’re sorry, you just forgive them. That way there’s a good chance you’ll stay friends.

Plus, if you feel the need to whisper about someone to someone else, that’s a good indication you should keep it to yourself. Because if it was something good, or helpful, or edifying, you wouldn’t have to whisper. Right?

So, start today. And if somebody tries to push your buttons, stop and think about what God says. Then, smile (nothing irks button pushers like a smile). And say something like, “Well, that was certainly mean.” If they apologize, you can say something like, “OK, I forgive you. Now, let’s be friends and not be like that anymore.” It probably won’t be easy the first time. But it WILL get easier.

And if you “feel” you’ve just GOTTA say something about someone, just let your words be…

Whispers In The Wind

Backbiters, selfish thieves, and darkness everywhere.
Conceited, jealous outbursts, hurtle through the air.
But selfish ambitions and contentions will all end
And leave no traces, like the whispers in the wind.

Stay tuned,
