Perfect people don't exist. If you think so, please resist.

Perfect people don’t make mistakes. Because that’s one of the criteria for perfection. No mistakes. Ever. Not even one tiny one.

So, have you ever met any perfect people?

Oh, stop it. I am not. You’re embarrassing me. (insert chuckles and giggles here)

Anyway…

Here’s the irony in this world’s lack of perfect people. Originally there WAS one perfect man and one perfect woman. But they made a really bad choice (and you and I would’ve done something just as stupid, so don’t get on no high horses). And with that one decision mankind’s time of perfection ended. Almost before it got started.

One reason I brought this up right now is because of how many times I hear people use the word perfect in so many parts of conversations. For example, have you gone to a restaurant and the person taking your order asks what you want, and when you tell him or her, they say perfect? And not just once, but multiple times, depending on the order.

Or someone takes your information at a doctor’s office or bank counter, and as you respond to their questions, they say “perfect.”

Or about this? Watch just about any Christmas movie and see if you can’t hear someone say something like “this Christmas party is gonna be the most perfect one ever.”

Well, I’m gonna get a little bit Scroogey and say “bah humbug.”

Because using the word over and over in all these kinds of scenarios, and so many more, just turns it into a silly figure of speech. Until people don’t even know the real meaning of the word anymore. And silly as it sounds this IS important because perfection IS real.

But it only exists in three persons in one place. God. Good news is one fine day. He’s gonna change things back to where they were. And then includes changing the broken you into the…

Perfectly You

You’re not perfect
And neither am I.
And both of us
Should never try.
Perfect people
Don’t exist.
If you think so,
Please resist.
You can be you…
And it’s okay.
Keep on growing
Every day…
In your spirit,
Body, and soul.
You’re much more than
Energized coal.
You didn’t happen.
You were designed.
A loving Creator
Had you in mind
To be a real person
To think and do…
And though you’re not perfect
You’re perfectly YOU. © 2013 TF

OK, I think that’s a perfect place to stop for right now. Until next time remember….

Bond of Perfection is the flawless direction

I wanna talk about a brilliant bond of perfection. But first, this. Elgielene likes to watch cornball Hallmark movies. Not because they’re great. But because they’re basically free from dirty stuff. And occasionally I watch one with her. Because I enjoy HER company. Certainly not because I’m a fan of those movies. Of course, they’re totally unpredictable and filled with intricate plot lines. But that’s beside the point. (eye-roll)

Those movies talk about “perfect” a lot. But not about a bond of perfection.

Yeah, just about every other paragraph of dialogue has one character or the other describe something as “perfect.”

“Oh, you guys are perfect for each other.”

“Wait till you find your perfect soulmate.”

“Yes, those cupcakes will be perfect for the party.”

You get the idea. And every time I hear one of the actors or actresses saying something like that, a little voice inside me says, “Nope. Not perfect.”

But it’s probably because I have a way different idea of perfect. I describe it as absolutely flawless in every way imaginable. So, I’d hardly describe cupcakes or soulmates as perfect.

But eternal life IS perfect.

Because, in order for anything to last forever, it would have to absolutely perfect. But I don’t if you’ve noticed, but there don’t seem to be any actual perfect people. Despite what Hallmark would have you believe.

Except, what a minute. There was this ONE person. He knew all about “tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another.” And He inspired another guy, named Paul, to write about what it is that helps you do and be all those things.

What is it?

Love.

There’s that pesky word again. Seems like it pops up all through Paul’s letters, in the Bible. Why does he have to mention love all the time? Was Paul a wimpy, peacenik, love-peace-and-joy boy? Hardly.

No…Paul understood how the only reason you and I even exist is love. And more accurately, God’s love. He loves you and me so much He provided a Way to live forever. Life, sealed in the bond of perfection.

And that’s why I write to you almost every day about it.

Because I love my neighbor as myself. And because I love myself enough to want to avoid hell, I want to love you enough to help you, too. If you need help. Or to help you have more resources you can share with others you’d like to help.

The main thing is, we gotta tell others. And today’s the day.

Tomorrow is too late ’cause it’s not real.
Let your loved ones know just how you feel.
Especially when you’re wrong, and please don’t wait too long.
Your loving words create a golden seal.

Be Close To God

Have you ever turned binoculars around and looked through them backwards? They make everything look very far away. That’s how you look to God until you trust Jesus as your Savior. God made you, and He wants to be close to you and have you close to Him. But He’s very nice. He won’t make you be close to Him if you don’t wanna be. So, here’s a question”why do you think someone wouldn’t wanna be close to God?

Some people don’t wanna be close to God because they feel guilty for bad things they’ve done. Others don’t wanna be close to God because they just wanna be the boss of everything. And others just want to be left alone.

Those are all sad reasons because they don’t have any hope in them. But there’s a place in the Bible where it says you CAN have hope.

And that place is close to God.

It says even though you may be “far off” from God you can be “brought near.” And the way you can be brought near to your Creator is to trust in Jesus who made it all possible. Jesus is God, the Son. He came to earth and became a human being. And He did that so He could take the real human punishment for all of the sins of everybody. I mean everybody”who ever lived or lives now or ever will live. Jesus could do that because He lead a perfect, sinless life. Then He allowed Himself to be put to death. But He rose again to show us how we can rise again, too.

If you don’t already trust Jesus, I hope you’ll learn more about Him. Wouldn’t you like to be close to God and live forever in His love? If not, write to me and tell me why. I know you’d be missing out on the best treasures you could ever imagine. But it’s your choice. Here’s a rhyme to help you remember”

Do you wanna be close to God and live forever?
It’s really not that hard a thing to do.
Just trust that Jesus made the way there easy,
And He is there right now waiting for you.

Before You Were Born

God has always been around. He lived forever in the past. We don’t really know what that’s like because we all had a starting day. You and I didn’t live forever in the past. But you and I can live forever in the future because loves us so much. Did you know He loved you before you were even born? It’s true. He put you together inside your mom. And before you and I were born…before anyone was born, God starting making plans for us. He wants us to live forever, and because He’s so smart, He figured out a way to do that even if we mess up. Isn’t that cool?

And that started before you were born.

There’s a place in the Bible where it says God was working things out “before time began“. That means before YOUR time began. Before my time began. Before human beings began. But not before God. Time has always been here because God has always been here. He didn’t make it up. He made us. And our time began when He made us.

The main thing to remember is He made you because He loves you. He wants you to live with Him forever. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to keep from making mistakes. All God asks is that you believe and trust in Jesus because Jesus lived a life with no mistakes. He is perfect.

Jesus always lived as God the Son in a spirit form until He became a man. Then He took a horrible punishment for you so you wouldn’t have to. Some people killed Him because He didn’t do things the way they thought He should. But guess what? Jesus came back from the dead and went up into Heaven. But not before He told His friends how we could all do that, too. So, do you see why it’s so important to choose Jesus? Do you see how much God loves you? He made you in His own image, and you were YOU even before you were born. Here’s a rhyme to help you remember…

Even before you were born
God was making a plan
For us to live in His love.
Jesus became a man
Whose life would pay the full debt
For all the bad things done.
God made a way for your life,
And that Way is His Son.

How To Be The Best Copycat

Most of the time, when someone calls you a copycat, they don’t mean it to be a good thing. They mean you’re not being original. They’re saying you copied someone else because you couldn’t come up with your own idea. Has that ever happened to you? Or have you ever called someone else a copycat when you wanted to make fun? Well, it’s usually a mean thing, but I’m gonna show you how you can be a copycat and it’s a very good thing. All you gotta do is…

Copy God.

You might wonder how you can copy God. Especially since another time I wrote to you I told you no one has seen God. But here’s the secret. Are you ready for this? Shh…don’t tell anyone else, but the way to copy God…is to…copy Jesus.

Yep, when you read the Bible, and copy the way Jesus was, and be like Him, you’re being the best kind of copycat. That’s because you’re copying the only perfect person who ever lived on the earth. You can’t get or do better than that. Why should you copy Jesus if you want to copy God? I’m glad you asked. Simple. Jesus IS God.

Now, a lot of people in the world don’t believe that.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not true. And some other time I’ll show you ways you can know it’s true. But for now, look up the places in the Bible where Jesus talks to people. See the things He did and said. You’ll find out how much He loved us. More than we can even imagine!

When you say and do things like Jesus, you’ll be a copycat. But you’ll be copying the one person with the most love the world has ever known or ever will know. So, I hope you’ll start today. Try to do one thing like Jesus. When you do, write me and tell me what a copycat you were. And I’ll show you how God likes that.
