Christmas countdown 2024: only 7 six days more

We’re in the Christmas countdown for 2024. And, as I write this, it’s only 7 more days till the big day. But the Christmas countdown I think about these days, started way back when. And I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that eternity is a lot longer than the 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 90 years you might live in … The rest of the story…

Human form, from a brilliant brainstorm, is the norm

From the moment you were conceived you took on the human form. Not that body you’re walking around in now. The body that has endured the harsh rays of sun, drops of rain, sheets of ice, and blasts of wind. No, your human form started as one, tiny cell. But here’s something you might not have thought about. Even before you were that one, … The rest of the story…

Only person on Earth would still have enough worth

What if you were the only person on earth? Kinda spooky to think about isn’t it? It might make you think of movies about the last survivors on the planet. And what an awful place it would be. And that totally makes sense. Because it would be an awful place if you were all alone. You might not have to fight off zombies like … The rest of the story…

Back for seconds because the bee beckons

Cow secretions and bee vomit. Yum, yum. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be goin’ back for seconds. Oh yeah! But first, here’s my desire as I share a little something with you today: Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass. I can’t (and don’t) … The rest of the story…

Objective morality is an observable reality

When you take God out of the equation, the question of “right and wrong” is a moot point. It isn’t objective morality at that point. It’s opinion. And guess what? If your opinion differs from mine, all you have to do to win the day is be the stronger one. That’s the “beauty” of natural selection in process. It’s interesting how often those who … The rest of the story…

Full moon drive and feeling alive

Tucson, Arizona. Central New Mexico. Music. Moonlight. Dan Fogelberg. Storytelling. All parts of “the road” from a long time ago. And, early this morning, I thought about an incredible, singular experience I had during a full moon drive. Strangely enough, it was a motion-sensor light that triggered that full moon memory. Huh? A motion-sensor light and a full moon drive? Yeah, I got out … The rest of the story…

His plan for man has left the frying pan

“There are things that we’re not going to understand along the way. You have to trust that God knows what He’s doing and working out His plan for your life. His plan is bigger. His plan is greater.” OK, that appears to be (I say appears to be because I found it on social media) a quote from the number one authority on God’s … The rest of the story…

Abounding grace song still limping along

About 5 years ago I had an idea for an abounding grace song. So, I did what I always do. I wrote the lyrics. But there was still something missing. In fact a couple of things still missing. Seems like an abounding grace song would need music. Right? Yeah, that’s usually how it works. Words and music make a song. But I didn’t put … The rest of the story…

The poor will always be here even if YOU persevere.

“the poor will never cease from the land.” Wow, that’s a pretty negative quote. Sounds like somebody who just doesn’t have foresight. Definitely not a visionary. Not like one entrepreneur I’m connected with in a business network. I just saw a post of his where he said his purpose is to “end poverty.” So, he obviously doesn’t believe the poor will never cease from … The rest of the story…

Lyricist career of a man from yesteryear

It might still be possible. But my guess is, it’s rare. And I mean it’s rare for a person to have a lyricist career anymore. Especially since actual lyrics, with solid meter and rhyme. But something I shared yesterday led me to look a little more closely at the life of Johnson Oatman Jr. Ironically, Mr. Oatman didn’t really have a lyricist career. And … The rest of the story…
