Tomorrow is too late so please don't wait.

OK, it’s a new day. And this is the day to get started on your life, if you haven’t already. I’m talkin’ about your abundant life. The life that’s yours for the asking. But seriously, get started today. Because tomorrow is too late. And that’s a guarantee.

You absolutely can’t do a darn thing about yesterday. It’s gone. Let it go.

And tomorrow doesn’t exist. It’s a concept. A word we use to wrap our minds around the continuation of time. So, don’t try to base your life and decisions on a day that doesn’t exist.

Here’s the way I put it a long time ago: “Today is tomorrow’s yesterday and yesterday’s tomorrow.”

(By the way, you can get it on a t-shirt. Click here Today.)

And I’ve talked about this, in some way or another, several times over the years. But you might be one of those people who’s worried about the future. If you do, and you’re a Christian, you’re sinning. Because Jesus said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” And He didn’t say that just to hear himself talk.

If you worry about the future, and you’re not a Christian, you’ve got bigger fish to fry. Because your soul is in danger.

And tomorrow is too late to do anything about it.

Maybe today is so difficult that you prefer to live in the past or the future. If so, I encourage you to take a close look at where your focus is. And see if it’s all on you and your problems. And if life feels too hard to even get up off the couch, chair, or bed, then stop relying on feelings.

Have you ever heard of the “Apostle Paul?” If not, please look for him in the Bible. You can find his letters (aka epistles…aka “books”) in the New Testament section. And if you’re not even sure where that is, open a Bible and turn right and don’t stop till you get there.

You’ll find out about Paul in the “book of Acts.”And his letters go from the next book, Romans, through another book called “Philemon”. (that’s pronounced Fy lee mun by the way). Paul said many things I love. And one of my favorites is, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus“.

In other words, keep looking up where the prize is, not here in your problems.

One more thing””love your neighbor as yourself”. And when should you start? Say it with me…

Today is the day you’ve been waiting for…today.
Tomorrow is too late, so please don’t wait.
Today is the day. Concentrating on today
You’ll accomplish more in life, don’t hesitate.

Time flies away no matter what.

Time flies away…no matter what

Yep, you can take good care of yourself, eat right, get plenty of exercise, fresh air, and sunshine. But no matter how healthy (or sick) you are, time flies away so quickly. There’s nothing you can do to stop it…or even slow it down. But there IS something you CAN do to make the most of it. Love.

That one syllable, four letter word…love. It’s incredible how much capacity humans have for love and yet still manage to muster so much hatred for one another. And why? To beat somebody at something? Or take something from someone else? Or how about trying to conquer the whole world and rule over everyone? How many times has that been tried? And it always fails. But you know what never fails? Love.

Time flies away so you’d better love today.

You might never see tomorrow. In fact, you won’t. Because tomorrow is a day that never gets here. It’s always out in front of you…out of reaching distance. Today is the only day you’re guaranteed. So, while today might be slipping away, you can do something to make it meaningful. Love.

What will you do today to show someone you love them? Could you make them a meal? Or at least take them a meal? A sandwich? Cup of coffee? How about handing out a free compliment? I promise…if you find a reason to not be too busy for just a few moments…and focus all your attention on someone close to you, the results you get could have eternal benefit. It’s that important. Love.

Here’s a song I wrote back in 1992 called “Angel Café”. Notice how it talks about not waiting too long to show love. You can hear it in this week’s The Power of God’s Love Podcast.

Angel Café

You’ve already been to the mountain,
And you’ve taken your slice of the pie.
You’ve had your cool dips in the ocean…
Tied the knot with a prominent guy.
You work for and live in the good life,
And you’re blessed with the ol’ Midas Touch,
But you’re not the girl I remember…
And I miss her so much.

You might recall all the tea and conversation…
Stayed up all night just to start it all again.
But now it’s all such a different situation.
You clocked me out just when you were clocking in.

Well, time flies away.
Don’t put off who you should get to today.
Time flies away.
Don’t you wait till we meet in the Angel Café.
Don’t you wait till we meet in the Angel Café.

I watched as your world got so busy.
I felt all the edges get rough.
Sure, I know you just want a secure life,
But, I ask, is it ever enough?
Is it worth just what it may cost you?
Are you willing to pay off the fine?
Just be wary of what you neglect here.
That’s my own bottom line.

Whispering Behind Backs

Would anyone be able to say they’ve seen you whispering behind backs about someone or something? Maybe everybody has done that at one time or another. But it’s a good way to lose friends. I’m sure you don’t wanna do that…do you? No. So, it’s a good idea to pay attention to what God says about that kind of whispering. And He says it “separates the best of friends.” Wow. Imagine losing your best friend because you whispered. Wanna know why it works like that?

Stop whispering behind backs, and keep reading.

The best thing you can do when you’re mad at or upset with a friend is to tell them. Don’t yell at them. Just tell them what they did that upset you. And then give them a chance to say they’re sorry. They might not say they’re sorry, but then again…they might. But if you whisper bad things about them to other friends, you’ll only make things worse. In fact, you’ll probably lose a friend. You know how I know this works? Easy…

…because it’s how God says to do it.

God says when somebody does something wrong to you, go and tell them. If they say they’re sorry, you just forgive them. That way you can have a good chance at staying friends. Wouldn’t that be better than whispering behind backs and losing friends? After all…you can’t have too many friends…can you? So, starting today…if somebody makes you mad…stop and think about what God says. Then, smile to yourself, walk right over to that person and say something like, “That was a mean thing to do”. Or…”that was a mean thing to say”. If they say, “I’m sorry”. You can say something like, “OK, I forgive you. Now, let’s be friends and not be like that anymore.” Sound good? Well, here’s a rhyme to help you remember…

Somebody said a mean thing to me,
And I just turned around and grinned.
I know that’s better than to yell right back
Or start a whisper whirlwind.

I wanna do what God wants me to.
I know He’s smarter than me,
Then, maybe I can keep all my friends
Through all eternity.

Stay tuned,
