(this is for adults, don’t watch kiddos) One of my collections of real kids songs is called Kiddin’ Around. When it first came out, I sold a bunch of CD’s. Yes, those plastic discs that you actually had to put in a CD player to be able to hear the music. Crazy, right?

The reason I call them real kids songs is real kids enjoy them.

And I’ve got proof.

A teacher at a Christian school in the Denver area told me she’d like to use some of my songs for a presentation her kids were gonna do. She asked if it would be OK. I said…

“Sure. That would be cool.” Or something like that.

Anyway…

The day came for the kids to put on their “show.” And I took my little hand-held digital video camera and went to the school. And I sneaked (some even say snuck) way up in the balcony. The lighting wasn’t great from up there. So, the video quality ain’t that great. But I think you’ll see how cute the kids were anyway.

And it really was cool to see the little people kiddin’ around to real kids songs.

Of course, this is in no way a guarantee that your kid(s) will enjoy these songs, too. After all you might have kids that don’t like to have fun. How could I possibly know. But, most red-blooded, American kids have enjoyed these songs for a long time. So, there’s a pretty good chance yours will too.

If you’re too old for kids, or even grandkids, you probably still know a special kid or two somewhere in the world. And I feel sure they wouldn’t be mad at you for making sure they have some fun tunes before the rest of their friends do.

Just be sure you don’t share this link with anyone else who has kids. Because you don’t want them to beat you to it.

Can you pick up on my Brooklyn accent in that headline? Or is it the Bronx. I can never remember which one of those New Yorkers talks like dat. But I hope you at least can tell I’m just kiddin around. And I know I misspelled here. Because it’s a thinly stretched pun to illustrate what I’m talkin’ about. Knowhamsayin?

Kiddin around on a playground of sound

Anyway…Kiddin Around is a brand new song book for kids.

The songs have been around a while. And you can even still get a CD version (remember those?) if you so happen to be inclined. Yeah, I realize there’s still a few of you (smart ones) who understand the value of a hard copy of music.

But for those of you who prefer the convenience and expeditious delivery of a bundle of joy for your kids, der’s anudda way.

Maybe you’ve heard of a little online shopping site called Amazon. Yeah? Good. Well, all’s you gotta do, is follow dis link and you’ll find dis book I’m talkin’ about. When you get der, you’ll see dis description…

In the recent past I compiled a collection of songs I call “Kiddin’ Around”. (pun intended) I tried to think about goofy stuff kids think of and silly things they do. So I came up with titles like “Don’t” and “Stop Buggin’ Me” and “Be Nice”. 

There are 10 songs on the CD…and you can hear a demo (or get the CD). Just click or tap on the Singer Songwriter link at the top of this website. Or pretty much anywhere you see me talk about Music for Kids.

Warning: there’s a lot of doodling in the music. So, if you don’t like doodles…it may not be for you or your kids.  🙂 Anyway…as it turns out, one of the songs in that collection is gonna be the next of my ebooks for kids.

“Don’t” is a big list of things you should never, ever let your kid do. And I have to be firm about this. While they’re listening to this music, or while you’re reading the book together, they may be tempted to do some of the things the song is saying not to do…but…

Don’t let ’em!

For instance…the very first line must be obeyed or the rest of the lines may not matter.

The second line applies to adults, too. The third line could cause your kids a great deal of stress if they don’t heed the warning. The fourth line…well…let’s just say, if you don’t pay attention and take it to heart, you’ll start the day in a bad way and it’ll tailspin down from there.

OK…you get the idea. It’s important you get these children’s songs. And it’s equally important to get the ebook on Amazon.com  Their very future is at stake.

I’ve always enjoyed kiddin around with kids.

And they seem to get a kick out of it, too. That’s why I wrote a whole CD of zany funtime music for kids and called it “Kiddin Around“.  It starts out with a song called “Don’t”. How many times have you heard one kid telling another one that? Or how many times did YOU have to say it to a brother or sister? My song “Don’t” takes a different turn, though. The lyrics contain a list of things you don’t do. But they’re things you can’t possibly do. Listen to the song and you’ll see what I mean.

Next song on the CD is called “Stop Buggin’ Me“…another staple of words kids say to each other…wouldn’t you say? It’s usually said a few times before Mom or Dad says “Timmy…stop buggin’ Janie.” And of course it often gets replaced with “I’m not touching you…I’m not touching you.”  🙂

Third song on the CD talks about “Monkey Doodles“. There are a couple of meanings behind this one…but you’ll have to give it a listen to venture a guess. Here’s a hint: if you’ve lived in Evergreen, Colorado for a long time, you may know one of the meanings.

Fourth song on the CD seems like a good fit.

It’s called “Be Nice“. If only that came naturally for kids. But then…what would parents do if their kids were always nice. Wouldn’t life be too boring?  ha!

Then comes “Green Monkey“. This is one of 6 songs on the CD that were written specifically for a purpose other than just making kids smile. But I won’t reveal what that purpose is. It gives the songs an air of mystery…don’t you think?

After that we have “Keepin’ It Real“. It has a couple of my favorite lines that talk about what’s truly important to a little kid:  “I’m the center of the universe…but I’m hypnotized by my mother’s purse…”

“Island Day” is the 7th song. And I put it at number 7 for two musical reasons. One has to do with a Sting song…the other has to do with the movie “Papillon”. That’s all the clues for that…

Number 8 is sort of like number 3 (hmm…literally and figuratively). After all they both have doodles. You don’t have to clean up after “Apple Doodles“. It doesn’t even melt on the minivan seats.  🙂

Next to last we have “The Belly Song“.

It talks about where we all were once upon a time…something no human should ever forget or take for granted.

Last, but not least there’s “Timbuk Toys“. I hope it doesn’t sound braggy of me…but I love the bass line and the sort of African background vocals. Listen to it and see if you agree with me.

Well…there’s a little background into my songs on the Kiddin Around CD. The lyrics will be available on my brand new lyrics page before long. Be sure and check out the demo of that funtime music…and don’t forget…Christmas will be here before you know it. Just sayin’…
