Live your life with thanksgiving, you turkey (more on that in a bit). And don’t just “get through” each day by moaning and groaning.
There’s a humongous canyon between living your life and just slogging through. To live it requires thoughts, joy, and action. So, “to live” shouldn’t be a passive experience. Because that results in letting life happen to you rather than thinking about where you came from so you can let joy work in you with thanksgiving. I hope you see the difference.
Life is too precious to just be moaning and groaning through.
Life is a gift. Breathed into you from God. And it CAN be an eternal gift. He’s worked on us humans for 6,000 years. Because he wants to show us how to live more abundantly. With more purpose. And go on forever.
But most people tune God out. Maybe it’s because the world is so full of distractions. Or maybe it’s something even more serious? Maybe it’s because most people would rather BE a god and try to “go it alone.” I hope that’s not you.
God sacrificed SO much to provide the opportunity to live forever in a glorious life you can only imagine.
That inspires me to live a life with Thanksgiving.
And that gets me to the turkey part I mentioned before.
My wife and I went on a short pleasure drive in Colorado Springs a few years ago. As we got to the top of one hill we saw a flock of turkeys wandering around in the middle of the road. I pulled up as close as I could and snapped a picture and took some video. And we could clearly see why the word “turkey” is used to describe a dufus.
Naturally, turkeys remind me of Thanksgiving, which is coming up in a couple of months. And with Thanksgiving there’s always the family get-togethers, lots of food, and the delightful Autumn weather. But it’s so important, not just on Thanksgiving, but every day of your life, to remember who to be thankful to.
I’m deeply disappointed at how many people are clueless about that.
Without your Creator you wouldn’t have life. And without His sacrifice you wouldn’t have hope. And you probably WOULD be moaning and groaning through life. So, I hope, if you haven’t already given your life to God, you’ll do it today, because…
There’s A Time
You’ll hold on to nothing when you leave.
It’s only you He will receive
And only you that means a thing.
So learn to love the things you are
And though you may not be a star
You still can hear the angels sing.
There’s a time for rejoicing;
Between the sunrise and the sunset.
There’s a time for your heart to be free from pain.
And there’s a time for believing.
This is only the beginning.
There’s a time when your spirit can see so plain.
That’s when you’ll know
You’re welcome to go.
You can’t make it to the other side
‘Til you’ve got nothing more to hide
‘Cause you can’t hide it from His eyes.
So try to learn from your mistakes
And try to do just what it takes
To live your life away from lies. chorus
Don’t turn your head.
Don’t turn your head and walk away.
Your time just might be today. © 1983-2007 TF
