Faith and doubt and what you might leave out

You’ve probably experienced faith and doubt at the same time. It’s OK to admit it because it’s part of your human flaws. I know. How dare I say you have flaws, right? Easy. Because everybody does. I talk about the Apostle Paul a lot. And that’s because he’s the best example of where you and I are right now. And he expressed his concerns … Read the rest…

Bring a gun and you're done

You’ve heard this before. Never bring a knife to a gun fight. And, even if you’re a recovering public school graduate, that should make sense to you right away. But here’s something that might not make so much sense, at first glance. Never bring a gun to a sword fight. Or, I should say, don’t bring a gun and fight with The Sword. See? … Read the rest…

Christians today still do it their way

The first century Christians were committed to one another. Christians today? Not so much. Sure, there are small cliques. But, as a whole, it’s a divided faith. And splintered, sometimes, by just the meaning of a single verse. Or even a single word. Want an example? OK. Christians today split up over the word, tithe. I just scanned an article with this title: “Which … Read the rest…

Pray for me? Or pray for you? Oh, whatever shall I do?

I think there’s a good chance that I have a tendency to pray for me more than I pray for you. I know, I know. It’s totally selfish. And I don’t feel good about it. But, hey, at least I’m admitting my shortcoming. And that goes on the “good” side of my ledger. Right? And it’s not about “stuff” when I pray for me. … Read the rest…

Time is running out for temporary clout

Have you noticed how most politicians, billionaires, and millionaires love clout? Yeah, they love to wield influence and power even when they don’t have the wisdom to do so. But time is running out for anyone who expects influence and power to last forever. Here’s a list of those people I shared eight years ago. And this is eight years truer now. Time is … Read the rest…

Anger management. It's not what you thought I meant.

Anger management. Ironically, most of the people who think other people are the people who need anger management seem to be so angry about it. And that makes me so angry. Not really. I’m just using absurdity to expose absurdity. The reason I brought it up is because of an article on the subject. And it talked about how some people (weak-minded ones) are … Read the rest…

Making melodies in my heart at least is a start

In 1977 I bought a cassette and an album of the same music from the same musician. It was the “Celebrate Me Home” collection by Kenny Loggins. It was (and is) an exceptional project. And it helped springboard me even closer to making melodies and singing for a living. If you’ve never listened to that album, do yourself a favor and check it out. … Read the rest…
