I like to think there’s a light in my eyes that makes people curious. Because I’d love to use that as a springboard of opportunity to tell them how it got there. But I know I’m a little over optimistic on that. And I know that most people, even if they see it, don’t care about that light.
Because the light in my eyes didn’t come from the sun.
It came from the Son. Jesus the Christ. And I know most people in the world don’t wanna get me started on that. No, let’s talk about anything but that. Things. People. TV shows. Movies. Concerts. Anything but Jesus. And that’s tragically ironic. Because Jesus is the only reason you and I have eyes. Much less light in them.
A few years ago, I shared how He created our solar system and put the moon 400 times closer to us than the sun. And, by design, He created the moon 400 times smaller than the sun. And that’s more than just a little interesting. Because it’s how we can get an almost perfect solar eclipse. Very cool.
There’s a whole lot more I could say about the design of the moon, stars, and sun. But I’ll just share a rhyme that I wrote for kids years ago. Feel free to share it with your kids or grandkids. And don’t be surprised when you see a glow from the light in their eyes as you read it. Kids eat this stuff up…
There’s a moon in my room…
And the light is in my eyes.
It came in through the window
Just as soft as lullabies.
There’s a smile on its face
As it floats up on the wall.
I love the way it flitters
Without any sound at all.
And I’d love to fly up there,
With the moon, into the sky.
But the sandman just stopped in…
So, for now, I must say “bye.” © 2013 TF
