You did it. So just admit it.

Got some health challenges? Or other physical obstacles? How about emotional or relational problems? And let’s not forget your mental well-being. Have you discovered you’re not as young as you used to be? And wouldn’t you like to know why bad things happen to “good” people? Well, I can tell you why. You did it.

“Wha?! I did it?!,” you ask incredulously.

Or maybe you don’t because you’re already ahead of me.

Either way, YOU did it.

Yep, you are your own worst enemy. And there have been times when you allowed your emotions to sabotage your actions. And you made decisions you knew were wrong and went through with them anyway.

Believe me I don’t condemn you for it. For a couple of reasons. One, I don’t have the authority to condemn you. And two, it would be somewhat hypocritical of me.

Because I’ve done those kinds of things, too. So has everyone else, whether they admit it or not. Yeah, I’ve been, and continue to be, my own worst enemy. Less than I used to be, thank God.

But here’s the thing. You and I are flawed. And you and I were born into a broken and flawed world. So, you and I are gonna make mistakes and bad choices. Wow, that kinda sounds almost dark and hopeless.

But the silver lining to this dark, gray cloud is that we have a living, loving Creator. In fact, He loves us so much and wants us to live forever. So, He made a Way to be sure that can happen. In spite of all our ongoing worst intentions.

But here’s another “but.”

That kind of living, loving God would never (and does not) make you do the terrible things you do in order to somehow glorify or magnify Himself. Too many Christians (I hope they’re Christians) say everything is part of God’s plan. Everything that happens in this world is under His control because of that plan.

And that’s ignorant at best. And despicable if left unchecked. Because it means anyone who perpetuates that lie is either ignorant of what the Bible actually says, or they just don’t care what it says.

And that ignorance or apathy has eternal consequences. Not only for the perpetrator. But also for the ones they influenced to turn away from God. And I guarantee that when you tell an unbeliever that God is in charge of this world, they’re even more likely to hate Him. And I can’t say I blame them. Because what kind of God would tell us not to do evil that good might come of it and yet instill all the evil in this world?

A god made in man’s image might do that. But not the God of the Bible. No, the responsibility for all the evil in the world is your fault. YOU DID IT. Well, to be fair, you AND every one of the rest of us.

Thankfully, the living, loving Creator of the universe DID make a plan to save us from ourselves. And He made Himself accessible to anyone who’s willing to take responsibility for his or her own actions. To anyone with enough humility to ask Him for help and wisdom.

The Power of His love created you and me. And the sovereignty of His life can sustain you and me forever.

Life IS tangible. It’s the self-realization force that originates God, the uncaused “first cause.” The one who breathed His life into the first man and woman. He is The Alpha and the Omega. He is the first, and…

The Last Word

Keep a bolt of lightning in your brain
And a jar of honey in your heart.
Let love be the last word from your lips
Whether you’re together or apart.

Lightning is your passion over pain.
Honey is your holy hope within.
Send those feelings through your fingertips
And remember, always let love win.

Words can be deceiving. What are you receiving?

I know that you know that words can be deceiving. When I was a kid, we had a rhyme to thwart something somebody might say about us. It went like this: “Sticks and stones might break my bones, but words will never harm me.” But people are even meaner these days. And they have more complex weapons.

And words can be deceiving you in spite of what you “see.”

Or they can at least attempt to do that. Here’s an example from a website I won’t mention. Because I don’t want you to support them with a single click. Check out this deceitful blurb:

“A new video is causing controversy in the Christian community. It was released by a group of alleged “woke” Christians, and it reveals a long lost Biblical secret. The secret challenges 1,635 years of Biblical teachings. And some say it has changed what it means to be a Christian — forever. The video, which has now gone viral, has caused a clear divide among Christians. Some are calling it a ‘Must watch’ while others are petitioning to have it removed from the internet. As of now, it is unclear how long the video will remain online. Viewer discretion is advised.”

Yeah, that’s deceitful because it claims factual information. Like the first sentence, “A new video is causing controversy in the Christian community.” No facts or stats to back it up. Just states it like it’s true. Then, they say the video “reveals a long lost Biblical secret.” And that it “challenges 1,635 years of Biblical teachings.”

Balderdash.

Then, The Blurb (sounds like a 60’s sci-fi monster) says “some say it has changed what it means to be a Christian — forever.”

No. It hasn’t.

And it won’t. Because it can’t change what it means to be a Christian. That’s impossible. Because humans don’t get to determine what it means.

Final point I’ll make is the click bait finish. “Viewer discretion is advised.” People see that and almost immediately are drawn to the click button. Because it’s human nature to do what we shouldn’t. Go where we shouldn’t. Especially when “discretion is advised.”

But here’s the real kicker to The Blurb. A quick check at the bottom of that same page, in a much smaller font, reveals this message:

“The products and the claims made about specific products on or through this site have not been evaluated by the United States Food and Drug Administration and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. The information provided on this site is for informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for advice from your physician or other health care professional or any information contained on or in any product label or packaging. You should not use the information on this site for diagnosis or treatment of any health problem or for prescription of any medication or other treatment. You should consult with a healthcare professional before starting any diet, exercise or supplementation program, before taking any medication, or if you have or suspect you might have a health problem.”

So which words are deceiving?

The Blurb? Or the disclaimer about The Blurb? Or are my words?

How can you know anything is true?
Is there any way to know at all?
Maybe there is when you rightly divide
With discernment and wherewithal.

6/8 Time Doesn't Have To Rhyme

Norwegian Wood, by the Beatles. Scarborough Fair, by Simon and Garfunkel. We Are The Champions, by Queen. And even She’s Always A Woman, by Billy Joel. Those songs all have something in common. Do you know what it is? Well, I won’t make you guess. They’re all performed in 6/8 time.

And 6/8 time is one of the best for heart-felt emotion.

6/8 time is a meander, not a walk.
A delightful conversation, not a talk,
Where a heart’s not a heart, it’s the Master’s best art,
And why the rose is on the vine, not the stalk.

Probably all the best classical composers wrote music in 6/8 time at least once in their lifetimes. Because they understood the power contained in that gentle sway of notes.

One 6/8 song, I discovered to be a new favorite, is called “Song For Sienna,” by Brian Crain. Check it out in this YouTube video link:

See what I mean about the heart-felt emotion?

There isn’t a ton of instrumentation to Brian’s song. But the notes, combined with the time signature, pull you in. And, if you’re a musical note to word picture person (like me), you’ll take off right away.

But, as always, I’m not sharing this with you because I want to promote Brian Crain’s music. Because I don’t even know Brian. I have no idea if he’s a Christian. There’s no mention of it on his website. So, my guess is, he either isn’t, or he’s a middle-of-the-road “believer.”

And that doesn’t diminish the quality of “Song for Sienna.” I still like it very much. Because it’s a great example of how music, the second best gift from God (first being Jesus, of course) is the quintessential communication tool. I’m confident that God gave us music simply because it delighted Him to do so. And I hope, if you haven’t already decided God is real, and that He loves you, that you’ll do that today.

And enjoy the beauty of 6/8 time for all time.

Big plans and dreams against darker schemes

They’re everywhere. In almost every household. Certainly in every politician’s office. And in the heads of most every kind of person there is. From young graduates to old tyrants. Big plans. For good. And not so good. And downright evil.

Big plans and dreams are fine.

If you’d like to achieve and receive awards, scholastic achievements, and trophies, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that.

And if you can speak three languages, program computers, and even design and improve infrastructure, that’s awesome.

Do you practice intellectual philosophical meanderings? Do you seek out cataclysmic discoveries? And are you excited by geological conquests? OK, that’s interesting.

Riddle me this. Do you have a keen eye for detail, a sharp ear for nuances, and an acute awareness of your surroundings? Because those are some cool abilities.

Got any world-changing inventions you care to share? Like some life-changing machinery. Or a miraculous AND safe medicine? Please, do tell.

Now, tell me about your diplomacy, diversity, and democracy.

And don’t leave out any of the beneficial details.

And tell me about your physical prowess, your endurance abilities, and your driven personality. Because those can certainly be useful.

And are you one of those supernaturally gifted people who can prophesy, or speak in tongues, or heal people with your hands? Because those might come in handy right about now.

But you could tell me you have all these things and more. And you could tell me you have the world on a string. And I’d be skeptical. In fact, even if you said you have the whole universe at your disposal, I’d say there’s a very real possibility that you have nothing at all.

Because there’s only one thing that makes any of those other things worth anything. And that one thing comes from only one source. That doesn’t make it scarce. Quite the opposite. But it DOES make it the most valuable resource in existence. Because it conquers darkness.

So…

If your big plans and big dreams don’t include it,
And your reflex is always to elude it,
Then you’ll lose out on paradise and real peace
For the temporary things that don’t increase.

Bad apple, good fruit. And a great reward to boot.

Play

How about this expression? “The bad apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” You’ve heard that, right? Hmm, maybe that’s acorn. Or lemon. Doesn’t matter. The point’s the same. But there’s another expression, too.

“One bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch.”

That, of course, originated from the Jackson Five, where the wise and glimmering guru of pop, EmJay began his journey. But I digress…

Could there ever be a time when a bad apple leads to good fruit?

Metaphorically, I think this is possible. And I think you’ll agree after these examples.

Let’s say a father curses at and beats his son. In that scenario, father equals bad apple. But let’s say those bad deeds motivate the son to seek and discover words of wisdom in the Bible. And then he passes the compassion, love, and mercy he finds there, to his own kids. So, the son equals good fruit.

OK, here’s another example.

A mother does too many drugs and ridicules her daughter on a daily basis. In that scenario, mother equals bad apple. But then the daughter reads about the great women of Bible. And she passes on those stories to anyone who’ll listen. So, the daughter equals good fruit.

Or how about this example?

A famous athlete has a public meltdown because he’s too immature to handle his fame without alcohol or drugs. In that scenario, famous athlete equals bad apple. But a young Christian boy sees this and uses it as an opportunity to learn how to focus on others. Then, he establishes foundations for the less fortunate. And he creates a legacy of giving. Christian boy bears good fruit.

In 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 Paul used examples of the people who followed Moses out of captivity and into the wilderness. He said “but with most of them God was not well pleased” and that “their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.”

Paul showed how we can use what they did as examples of what not to do.

Most of them just wanted to eat, drink, have sex, and complain. Ironic isn’t it? Because, if all you had to do was eat, drink, and have sex, what would you have to complain about? Ponder that for a second.

And that kind of crazy nonsense is pandemic (used that word on purpose) right now.

Here in America we have it exponentially easier than our forefathers. Most people can easily and comfortably sit around and watch TV or play video games for hours a day.

And way too many people eat an almost endless cornucopia of foods and snacks while they watch TV or play video games. And even believe they can have sex anytime, anywhere, and with anyone they want.

But here’s the irony again.

Even as they do all that, they complain about how rough and tough and unfair life is. They falsely believe they somehow deserve their piece of the wealth and resources of others. And they believe if they could get their hands on those democratically gotten gains, they’d miraculously have a more fulfilling life.

That, dear neighbor, is envy.

Envy turns good apples bad real fast.
You might get what they got. But it won’t last.
Be glad with a little or a lot.
Look for what’s eternal. What they’ve got’s not.

New normal is crazy so we can't be lazy

It’s a mean world. Every day you see and experience the cold, hard truth in this world. Whether you like it or not. And whether you prefer to think positive or be negative. Doesn’t matter if you’re a glass-is-half-full person or glass-is-half-empty person. It’s the “new normal.”

But this new normal is anything but new.

If you’ve been alive here on planet earth for three decades or more, you’ve seen it expanding. Slowly, year after year. In fact, I wrote a song about it over 30 years ago. And the harsh reality is that the same stuff I wrote about in the song is exploding now.

But I encourage you to read about this kind of stuff in the Bible.

Because the Bible is true and trustworthy. It’s like your ultimate James Bond secret weapon (except it’s hardly a secret). And it can help you take on this mean world, cope with the new normal, and face the…

Cold Hard Truth

You face the future like a heart attack.
Your palms are sweaty; you’re a jumping jack.
Can’t believe the world has come this far,
And still we’re living on a dying star.

You put your faith into the promised land.
You feed the dog and still he bites your hand.
Maybe you decide you have no choice,
But you just need to learn to raise your voice.

Be unrelenting like the tiger’s tooth
And face the cold hard truth!

We hear the speeches; see the banners wave.
They sell the dreams of all the lives they’ll save.
But in between the lines are pretty lies.
They seem so right behind that straight disguise.

No reason it can never happen here.
This is the place and time to face your fear.
Financial plans end up rhetorical.
The errors made aren’t simply clerical.

Be never-yielding like the tiger’s tooth
And face the cold hard truth!

Spoon-feed the apathy and watch it grow into the cold hard truth,
And if you never care, then you will never know…

It’s such a cold hard truth…cold hard truth!

You see the party junkies everywhere.
Behind their buzz you’ll find a long, blank stare.
Their windows shut; another right goes by
Without them ever realizing why!

Live for the weekend and the gin and vermouth
And face the cold hard truth!

Endangered species aren’t the only ones who face the cold hard truth.
We’re gazing straight into the paper guns
Through all the cold hard truth…cold hard truth!

Musician who died might just be bona fide

Berhane was a musician who died over 40 years ago. And he was buried in the same village where he was born, only 36 years before that. According to a report I read he was laid to rest with a Bible open to Psalm 23. And the report also said that he had been “baptized in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church and accepted Christ as Messiah.” I don’t if that’s true. But I hope so.

Because we should always hope that. For everyone.

Sadly, most people want nothing to do with Jesus. But that means most people will lose out on the one thing everyone wishes for. Immortality.

But, back to Berhane.

This musician who died over 40 years ago wasn’t a nobody.

Just because you’ve never heard of him (or maybe you have) doesn’t mean he didn’t make quite an impact in the world of music. I’ll share some of that impact in just a minute. But first, I wanna share what Berhane’s “minister” said about him.

Archbishop Abuna Yesehaq, from the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, said Berhane, “was really a good brother, a child of God, regardless of how people looked at him. He had a desire to be baptised long ago, but there were people close to him who controlled him.”

Yesehaq added that Berhane “came to Church regularly.” And he continued by saying that, during one mass he looked down at Berhand “and tears were streaming down his face. Many people think he was baptized because he knew he was dying, but that is not so. He did it when there was no longer any pressure on him. And when he was baptized, he hugged his family and wept, they all wept together for about half an hour.”

That sounds very different from the Berhane you might have heard.

Yep. You might have heard him sing.

Because millions of people did. In fact, his music has estimated sales of more than 75 million records worldwide. Not bad for a village boy from a small island country. But that ain’t all.

You’ve heard of Rolling Stone magazine. Right? Yeah, it’s junk. But it’s an influential periodical. And they ranked Berhane at #11 on their list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Wow. Plus, he also received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But more important than those awards is this little fact.

I’ve sung some of his music to live audiences for years.

And his songs include lines like, “Jah sitteth on Mount Zion. And rules all creation.”

Then, there’s this one, “Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner. There ain’t no hiding place from the Father of Creation.”

And a personal favorite of mine,

“Give thanks and praise the Lord and feel alright.”

OK, that last line might’ve given it away. But just in case you still don’t know it, Berhane Selassi was better known to the world as Bob Marley. And I shared all this with you because he died on this date, November 4, back in 1981.

Marley was a big doper. And according to the report, that mentioned how the Bible was buried with him, someone also placed a large “stick of ganja” in the coffin. Hopefully Bob didn’t end up in a place where that ganja could be lit. And it would appear that he might actually be with the Father of Creation now.

If that’s the case, one of the pioneers of Reggae music truly understands the One Love that conquers all.

Kanye West net worth is blank without new birth

According to search engine “suggestions,” a very popular search term is “Kanye West net worth.” And sadly, for the hip-hop rapper, it’s way less than it was. Poor dude is only worth about $400 million now.

But don’t worry. Because fans want to make him a billionaire again.

Gotta get that Kanye West net worth back into the $B column.

But why do fans, who probably make less than a tiny fraction of what Mr. West makes, wanna donate to him? Yeah, according to an article I just read, they started GoFundMe pages for him.

It’s another one of the millions of crazy things that happen in this wacky world. But I’ve talked about this strange phenomenon before. People will give their money to millionaires and billionaires. But they won’t support their own family, friends, and neighbors.

Do those Kanye fans not know anyone who’d love their help to build their own music (or rap) career? And do those fans think that only millionaire and billionaire “artists” know how to create great music (or rap)?

I think it’s something else.

And I believe people feel that if they’re somehow connected to famous people, their own status is raised. And their own worth is increased.

But the truth is, the Kanye West net worth will only decrease. And so will his fame, influence, and status. It  would be great if “Ye” was sincere in his mentions of Jesus. But I found some bullet points, about those mentions, that indicate otherwise. They said…

  • In 2006 Kanye appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone as Jesus.
  • In 2013 Kanye West brings fake Jesus out on stage.
  • And he has an album called Yeezus and He even calls himself Yeezus
  • He even says stuff like “I am a god.”

Plus, he’s got a serious case of potty mouth. And while cursing won’t necessarily keep you out of Heaven, it IS a window to your soul.

So, Kanye got some serious ‘splainin’ to do.

Thank goodness those GoFundMe efforts have failed miserably. I saw a report that said none of them had raised over $25. And it said that, on average, most of those pages had earned between 5 and 6 bucks.

But even if fans could raise enough money to make Kanye West a billionaire again, he’d still have a far less than zero net worth. That is, if he fails to acknowledge he is NOT God. And that there’s only One who can claim that title. And that Jesus, not Yeezus, is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Until he does, Kanye is just another blind, naked, poor, villainous fool who can’t pay off his debts.

And if you trust the Creator of the universe to be your only way to eternal life, you are far richer than any millionaire or billionaire who trusts in himself (or herself, if the him part offends you).

Be rich today in the only Way
You can ever truly be rich.
If that’s not your way, then I will pray
That this is the day you will switch.

Grace and glory in a singular story

It’s not a new cop show. Nope. The Grace and Glory I’m talkin’ about is found in the one story that makes ALL history possible. And this is true whether you believe in the God of the Bible or not.

Because your belief, thankfully, doesn’t provide or diminish grace and glory.

And that’s because grace and glory are fully contained in the one person who’s responsible for your existence. The one person who created all the universe, our solar system, and planet Earth with the power of His words.

And that same person is the ultimate risk taker. So, that’s why you’re able to choose whether or not you’d like to have an eternal relationship with Him.

I chose to do exactly that. Because eternal life sounds like an awesome proposition. Especially when you consider it won’t be forever in this broken and beaten world.

You’re free to choose not to have anything to do with Jesus. But I absolutely don’t recommend that choice. I’m convinced the love you’ll experience, in Heaven, is not to be missed. And I’d love to see as many of my family, friends, and acquaintances there as possible.

God loves you. Don’t miss out on it. And it’s so amazing I’ve written lots of songs about it. Some of them are part of a collection I call “Raise The Praise.”  You can get the whole collection in a BOOK on Amazon. Here are some lyrics from one of the songs. Get the songbook, which is also a journal, today.

Your Body Your Blood

Lord, I let You down,
So Lord I’m awfully glad
You loved me anyway…
You gave up all You had.
I fail here in the flesh…
This flesh that pulls me down,
And yet You say I’ll have
An imperishable crown.

Adoption Day, this year, is getting very near

It’s on November 19, 2022. I’m talkin’ about National Adoption Day. And November is still National Adoption Month. You might not know there are over 115,000 kids in foster homes waiting for a permanent home. Right now. And the “National Adoption Day” organization has already helped over 75,000 kids find homes.

Here’s why Adoption Day is so important.

Because you’re adopted. So, if you’re in a position to do that for a kid, it would awesome to pass that blessing along.

What’s that? You don’t think you’re adopted?

Hmm, come to think of it, I don’t know for sure if you are. Yeah, maybe you’re one of those people who hasn’t decided that eternal life is important enough to be adopted into it.

If that’s the case, all I can say is YIKES!

Because that adoption is one-of-a-kind. And it’s permanent. No foster homes required. No, according to the data, you’ll eventually get a mansion of your own. Yeah, you read that right. A mansion. And you never even have to set foot in an orphanage or go through the foster care system.

I’m grateful to be able to say I was adopted at the ripe, young age of 13. So, that’s when I became “an heir of God through Christ.” And that’s even better than Baron Trump’s inheritance.

Light years better.

Paul wrote, in Galatians, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”

Nobody had to meet any special financial criteria or background check for that adoption. Because God already knows your background. And He’s willing to adopt you into His home forever in spite of it.

So, that’s a much better deal than you’re gonna get anywhere. Ever.

If you haven’t asked the one, true, living, loving God of all Creation to adopt you, then you’re still a “slave.” I recommend you change that today.

Don’t wait until National Adoption Day to experience the joy of adoption. There’s no place like home.

Humble yourself and God will lift you up.

Halloween 2022 is spookier than ever for me and you

Here it is. Halloween 2022. Showed up like a fruit cake on Christmas. And just as delightful. But I don’t wanna ruin your special day, if you’re a fan. Because I have nothing against kids getting lots of healthy candies from companies who look out for their best interest. Go for it, kids!

Make Halloween 2022 a record year for bags of candy.

Because, remember, candy keeps you strong. And it’s chock full of all-natural ingredients to keep your brain sharp, your body lean, and your focus even more focused.

Or maybe the opposite is true.

But I DO remember how weak-minded people often toss their freedoms aside in order to enjoy their luxuries. And there’s no doubt about it. Candy is a luxury that even people on food stamps can enjoy.

And candy is a symptom of a deep-seated mental problem right here in the land of the free and home of the slave, oops, I mean brave (not really, I meant the first one). And that mental problem has brought America to the brink of suicide.

President Abraham Lincoln talked about this in an address to the Young Men’s Lyceum in Springfield, Illinois in 1838.

Grab a bag of M&M’s and check this out…

“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”

Honest Abe’s speech was, sadly, prophetic.

America has become a nation that prefers freaks over freedom. And treats over Truth. And candy over Christ. That’s the kind of nation that will kill itself.

Democracy brought us to this point.

“Elected officials” write the policies that have incrementally (for scores of years) turned the American powerhouse into an outhouse. “We, the people,” have voted ourselves into this mess. And the way we’ve acquiesced was like taking candy from a baby.

Trick or treat, freemen and women.
Is it just me? Or are we swimmin’
In a pond of stagnant waters?
Heads up, freedom’s sons and daughters.

Rights come from God. And that logic's not flawed.

Real, and true, inalienable rights come from God. And all those so-called “laws” that so-called “lawmakers” make, almost daily? Well, they’re childish gibberish hung from a foolish wish. And they’re subject to subjectivism and/or the whims of a so-called “organic” government document.

But even that document acknowledges that true rights come from God.

Every person has the right to life, liberty (self-protection), and the pursuit of holiness. Oops, that’s supposed to be happiness. (not really, but that’s what the document says)

Anyway…

Sure, you can nullify your rights when you violate the rights of others. Because no person has the right to take those rights from an innocent person. From the seven footers to the single-celled persons.

And one of your rights from God is to think for yourself. Yeah, He didn’t plan your day for you. And He hopes you’ll think of Him today. But He won’t force His love on you. And He won’t coerce you to do anything that violates the rights of others.

So, when you make THAT choice, it’s on YOU.

My suggestion, today (and every day) is to consider “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report and have virtue and are praiseworthy.

Meditate on that and get back to me.

Childish gibberish hung from a foolish wish
Darkened all the human halls of law.
Fiendish, poltroonish morons seem to flourish
Unaware of their eternal flaw.

Throw your vote away the next election day

I’ve heard it said more times than I can remember that if you don’t vote for one of the 2 parties’ candidates, you basically throw your vote away. Nothing could be further from the Truth. I capitalized Truth for a reason.

Because most politicians wouldn’t know Truth even if it was in the bestselling book of all time. And even the ones who do are fairly quick to compromise when it comes to the most basic of all rights. The right to life.

If your presidential candidate compromises on that issue (the first and foremost God-given right), then what do you suppose they won’t compromise on? Budgets? Spending? Foreign policy? Entitlement programs? All of the above?

When you vote for anyone like that you throw your vote away.

You could maybe vote for a candidate who compromised on all of those side issues. And you wouldn’t throw your vote away if they weren’t willing to budge on the right to life of every human being. And that includes everyone from conception to natural death. Yeah, you could still vote for that candidate with a clear conscience. After all, I don’t expect any office holder to live up to a perfect standard. None of us can.

But if a candidate states (and they all do) they’ll compromise on how many unborn babies to kill, that one issue disqualifies them. Period.

Jesus used words purposefully and meticulously. He said “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” He didn’t say “some” or “part” or “all.”

Notice, He said “ONE of the least of these.” And you can’t get any more “least” than unborn babies. When you compromise and say it’s OK to abort even one unborn baby, you disqualify yourself from having any wisdom. And what America needs, in a leader, is wisdom. Not just money. Or persona.

I know there are Christians who struggle with this issue of life because of their own past. But, please remember that Jesus died for ALL your sins. And He wants you to use wisdom to help others see further down the road than you did. Just because you made poor decisions in your life shouldn’t stop you. Share God’s wisdom with others who might be struggling with the same decisions you once faced.

And remember this…God wants you to stand up for His Truth.

He’s much more concerned about the souls of men and women than who elections. Elections, presidents, and even countries and nations will pass away. But God’s word will never pass away. And He says it’s never right, for any reason, to shed innocent blood. So, as you head to the polls this year, think about this. Never compromise when it comes to innocent babies. And do throw your vote away on someone who will.

All eyes are gonna look up.
All knees are gonna bow,
And when that time comes it’s too late.
You gotta take a stand right now.

Inner child living in your head? Kick him or her out instead.

So. You grew up, left your parents’ house, and went out on your own. Great. You’re not a kid anymore. And that’s exactly as it should be. What’s that? You still have to deal with your inner child? Well, here’s some free, unsolicited advice.

Kick that inner child to the curb.

Yeah. You read that right. Kick that inner child out of your head immediately. And don’t look back. Matter of fact, don’t think back. Because back is SO backwards when it comes to rehashing your past.

Sure, I know my unadulterated, unsolicited, and un-delightful advice goes against “modern advice.” But my advice is based on the Manufacturer’s information.

Here’s what a so-called hypnotist healer has to say about this subject. And this comes from an audio session called “Compassion for Inner Child”

She said, “In this audio, I will lead you through an exercise that helps you find compassion for your inner child. You will find this soothing and reassuring, as your inner child may experience for the first time what it’s like to get adequate attention and care.”

On the other end of the self care spectrum is your Maker. And He says, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”

(psst…that applies to women, too)

So, as it is with most of your life, you have a choice to make.

Believe what a touchy-feely hypnotist says. Or believe what God says about you.

Now, if you disagree, don’t pitch a fit.
Because I didn’t just come up with it.
No, God gave you a mind that can leave that child behind
And be the real YOU, not a counterfeit.

Ringtones for phones in particular zones

Play

Ringtones for phones are still a $2.1 billion bidness. According to one website I found that talks about such things. In 2005, ringtones outsold CD’s. Yeah, I know that’s no big deal now because who cares about CD’s anyway? Right?

Not so fast Mister Man (or Missy).

I just read a few news snippets that talked about how 2021 was actually a comeback year for our old friend the compact disc. Here’s a quote, “According to Axios , the surge in CD sales was also driven by “young people who are finding they like hard copies of music in the digital age”.

And that same article said, “Young people are therefore discovering the sheer joy of owning their music rather than leasing it from a platform like Spotify.”

What?! Own music instead of lease it? What a concept!

All seriousness aside, that kind of information is part of why I still sell CD’s. Of course, I also sell digital downloads. But I never dumped the lowly CD’s just because they fell out of favor with the “glitter” crowd.

But I didn’t mean to yammer on about physical media.

In fact, I wanna talk about ringtones for phones.

I experimented with ringtones way before they became an “industry.”

And I created quite a few of my own. Matter of fact, I still use some of them on my phone to identify certain callers. My favorite is from my personal song for Elgielene. Yeah, she has a one-of-a-kind ringtone. And it’s only available on my phone. And it only identifies one person in the whole world.

But that takes me to my self-serving reason for bringing all this up. I created a collection of Pro Life ringtones. And I want YOU to have them. But only if you’re TRULY pro life.

And there are two ways you can get ’em for Fa-Ree. You can jump on the The TRUTH. (that’s the catchy name for my free, almost daily, emails. Or you can subscribe to the The Power of God’s Love Podcast and send me some proof of your subscription. Either way, I’ll send you a link to the ringtones.

But getting in a TRUTH is the better deal.

Because you’ll get a bunch of freebies. Yeah, you could call it a bribe. But I prefer to call it stuff you can’t live without. Get yours today. Or share the links with somebody you care about. And boost your status with these unique pro life ringtones for phones.

Dr Seuss was a goose on a caboose

Play

Get The The Power of God's Love Podcast Delivered to Your Device Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Amazon Music | Android | Pandora | iHeartRadio | Podchaser | Podcast Index | TuneIn | Deezer | RSS | More

I’ve enjoyed Dr. Seuss books since I was a kid. In fact, I’m sure his rhythmic and whimsical writing inspired many of my writings for kids. And I’ll even admit that in a court of law if needed. But that still doesn’t stop me from sharing what I’m about to share.

You might call me Mr. Grinch after this. But it brings me no joy (and there’ll be none in Whoville) to say how disappointed I am in the good doctor.

Because Dr. Seuss missed a prime opportunity to celebrate human life.

He lived until September 24, 1991. Almost 20 years after that famous so-called “supreme court” decision on abortion known as Roe V Wade. So, obviously he was around when pro life groups started using a line from his book, “Horton Hears A Who.” The line says, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

And you’d think a guy who acquired a huge pile of money writing for kids would’ve thought that was A-ok. But you’d be wrong, apparently.

Here’s something I found in the most trusted earthly authority on the planet, Wikipedia.

– The line “a person’s a person, no matter how small” from Horton Hears a Who! has been used widely as a slogan by the pro-life movement in the United States. Geisel, and later his widow Audrey, objected to this use. According to her attorney, “She doesn’t like people to hijack Dr. Seuss characters or material to front their own points of view.” In the 1980s Geisel threatened to sue an anti-abortion group for using this phrase on their stationery, according to his biographer, causing them to remove it. The attorney says he never discussed abortion with either of them, and the biographer says Geisel never expressed a public opinion on the subject. After Seuss’s death, Audrey gave financial support to Planned Parenthood. –

So, that’s not completely solid evidence against Mr. Geisel.

But it seems to be a window to his soul.

It’s sad when you find out people you look up to don’t understand AND support the sanctity of human life. Because, as Dr. Seuss said, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.” And what good reason could any person ever, ever, ever have for not allowing another person their God-given right to life?

But if you’re part of pro life group, and you think you need or want a good rhyme, then, to quote Doc Holiday in the movie, Tombstone, “I’m your huckleberry (or huckle bearer).

No matter how tiny, no matter how small,
Right down to conception, the Lord loves them all.
They just need some love and a place they can grow.
Unborn babies are persons. God knows that you know.

Timbuktu much fun to do

From here to Timbuktu. You’ve heard that expression or something like it. Right? Well, I’m not gonna give you a history lesson on where the expression originated or if it’s even a real place. But it DID inspire a toy store in the Denver area.

And so, Timbuktu also, in a roundabout way, inspired a song.

It’s one of the 10 fun and silly songs in the Kiddin’ Around collection.

When CD’s were still a “cool” way to get music, we sold thousands of them through several kids’ stores across Colorado. One of those stores was named Timbuk Toys. And I wrote a song by that same name to motivate the store owners and employees to keep the CD’s in stock.

It worked well. And they sold a bunch of ’em for us.

But these days, CD’s have sort of fallen out of favor with most music lovers. So, I created another way you can get these fun songs for kids AND give them a lot more. I published the Kiddin’ Around Singalong, Coloring, and Drawing Book on Amazon.

Inside the book your kids get the lyrics to all the songs in the collection. AND they get coloring pages. AND they get blank drawing pages. PLUS they get a super secret link (which you can help them with) to a free download of all the songs in the book. Here’s a clip from “Timbuk Toys”

You can even scan the QR code you see at the top of this page, or in the video or below to go right to the page, on Amazon, where you can order a copy today.

Scan this code to get your Kiddin Around book

And next time you find yourself in Timbuktu, don’t be surprised if you catch yourself humming the Timbuk Toys song.

My, my what a stroke of luck…
When you wind up in Timbuk.
Everything that a kid enjoys…
Play all day with the Timbuk Toys.

God does not lie. Do you and I?

Get The The Power of God's Love Podcast Delivered to Your Device Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Amazon Music | Android | Pandora | iHeartRadio | Podchaser | Podcast Index | TuneIn | Deezer | RSS | More

Throw away your daytimer (does anybody have one of those anymore?). Toss out your to-do lists, your notes to self, your calendar apps, and your reminders. Because everything has already been painstakingly planned out for you. You just need to get your research hat and glasses on. And discover the details of that plan. And how they apply to you. But there’s a snag in that approach to life. God does not lie. You know that, right?

Yeah. God does not lie. But do you and I?

Uh, that would be a big Ten-Four good buddy.

In fact, if you haven’t already lied today, you probably will at some point before the day’s over. Admit it. You lie. So do I, so you don’t have to feel like the Lone Ranger (For those of you who were robbed of an opportunity to watch decent TV, he was a Saturday morning TV hero back in the day.)

Anyway…

God does not lie. And He is NOT the author of confusion. So, what kind of Father would He be if He made all of us lie as we run around a world overflowing with confusion?

Clue: I want that last question to be rhetorical. Sadly, it’s not for many, many, many Christians.

And I’m talking about the Christians who believe (and will tell YOU) how everything is part of God’s plan. Well, that’s a lie. And I cringe every time I hear a Christian say such things. Because it makes God look SO BAD in the eyes of intelligent unbelievers.

God doesn’t plan your day.

Or the days of all the other 8 billion people on the planet. He did something much better. And more complex. Much more brilliant than that.

Because He loves us. And He’s willing to take risks. Because He knows what TRUE love is.

Wanna know what He did? Good. Because I’m gonna tell you.

God designed something you can use to plan your own day. And He gave it to you (and to everybody who has ever lived) when you were conceived.

And you’ve been using it every day of your life.

Plus, you don’t have to ask His permission to use it. Of course, you should always consult Him and ask for His help. But you can make decisions based on your own choices. Then you can reap the rewards or deal with consequences based on what you chose.

God didn’t wreck your car, or burn down your house, or make your kid steal, or crash that plane, or make anybody shoot anybody else. He didn’t send Hurricane Ian as a punishment for anybody. And He absolutely did NOT give us an imbecile president to teach us some sort of political lesson.

God isn’t arbitrary or inconsistent.

He isn’t fickle. He doesn’t play games with your emotions, your family, or your life. God does NOT have a plan for your day. But He’ll never leave you nor forsake you as you plan your own day. Because He has the big picture view of this world. He told us that. And God does not lie.

And that means He allows you to live your life with the freedom to love Him or not. The freedom to choose Him or not. Here’s what I suggest…

As you begin to plan each day, put time with your Creator at the top of your to-do list.

Choose Him and His ways, today, if you never have. Or, if you have, let them be the guiding force in your life. Most importantly, choose to love God. There’s not a better relationship in existence. And you have nothing to lose but nothingness.

And that’s really something.

Tax system in the USA will wipe it out one day

The tax system in the USA will eventually destroy the country.

I’ve said it before. And I’ll admit it again. I’m a procrastinator. At least when it comes to giving up money to a system that has a metaphorical gun to my head (and I wouldn’t be surprised if and when it’s a real gun).

I always put off the whole tax filing thing to the last minute. Because I love spending hours and hours finding and adding up receipts, gathering digital info along with paperwork, and filling in all those blanks. So, when I put it off to the last minute, I can concentrate all that fun into one big, highly productive day.

It’s a thing of beauty. And a joy forever.

And I just love all the stupid (oops, I mean stupendous), ever-changing tax laws. Because it warms the cockles of my heart to know the government will have all that extra money to spend on things we all need, want, and desire.

Yep, the tax system in the USA is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

And since people are “basically good,” that just means the tax system is a natural extension of that goodness.

Who cares if 5% your income would cover ALL necessary expenses to run the government. This is America, by golly. And we deserve MORE. Not just safe, beautiful bridges, smooth roads, and a strong defense against all enemies. And not just more time for creative endeavors and innovations.

I’m talkin’ MORE highly trained professionals. Yeah, we need those.

But if you’re gonna have more highly trained professionals, it’s gonna cost. Because highly trained IRS agents, tax law specialists, and FBI guys who can sniff out criminals who run pillow companies don’t come cheap. So, we gotta pony up.

Fortunately we do.

And thank goodness (or politicians) we had the noble Robin Hood blueprint to follow. Take from those (suckers) who work hard to produce wealth. And give to those who don’t or won’t (oops, I mean can’t).

Doesn’t matter that if a private citizen did that, it could only be called stealing. Because this is the government we’re talkin’ about. The Disneyland of distribution. The wonderful world of the tax system in the USA.

I’ve heard some silly talk show hosts say stuff like, “No country, government, or empire ever taxed itself INTO prosperity.” That’s just knucklehead economics. Who cares if we’re taxed into oblivion? Because, if it feels good, then it must be right.

Right?

Move in day starts with "No way!"

Imagine, for a moment, that you’ve set up a move in day for your nice, new house. Or apartment. Condo. Doesn’t matter. It’s just about perfect. It has precision appliances, digital climate control, two car garage. And basically all the amenities you could ever want.

There’s just one catch.

On move in day you discover your neighbor hates you.

In fact, your neighbor hates you so much, they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get you out of your nice, new place. And when I say “whatever it takes,” I mean literally whatever. Even if they have to murder you.

Yikes.

Sounds like one of those dime-a-dozen horror movies that Hollywood’s obsessed with.

But it’s an illustration of something even way worse than that. And the scenario I described goes on thousands of times a day. Every day. Right here in America. And who knows how many times a day when you add in the rest of the world.

Because every day tiny human beings move in to their mother’s wombs. And every day, many of those mothers hate those tiny human beings so much they’ll do whatever it takes to get them out.

Have you noticed how, in the past few decades (and especially in the past few years), it’s become more and more difficult for many people to know what that is in a mother’s womb. And that has happened even as technology has made it increasingly simple to see it’s a baby. So, what’s the problem here?

When it’s move in day, for a baby, selfish people do selfish things.

Yeah, the reality of taking on the responsibility for another human life is too much. And selfish people do whatever it takes to avoid that responsibility. Even if that means murder.

So, just like in the movies, when you see someone hire a contract killer, the mother hires someone to kill her own baby. Because she’d rather focus on her life. Her career. Her choices.

And that means, the tiny human being, inside her womb, has no choices. No hope.

But, remember. It’s not really taking the life of another human being. It’s just a choice. Because no one can tell the mother what she can or can’t do with her body. Of course, it’s not her body that ends up in the trash. And it’s not her body that’s cut up and sold for parts.

So, when you say something like, “It’s woman’s right to choose,” be sure you understand what she’s choosing. Because it’s not a choice to “terminate a pregnancy.” That’s the clinical way to describe an abortion. But abortion means the end of a human life. The baby. Not the mom.

The moment a human sperm fertilizes a human egg, there is new human life. And it comes directly from the Source of Life. Yes, it is intimately connected to God.

But the vast majority of people on the planet hate God.

And they hate anything or anyone connected to Him. Abortion (aka, killing a baby) is like the ultimate rebellion against God.

Support human rights. And that means human life from the moment of conception. You were once a human being in that very same place. But thankfully your parents let you enjoy your move in day. And that life choice allowed you your choices. Win-win.

Even if you don’t know when human life begins, at least don’t make the mistake of terminating a pregnancy. That’s like playing God, while at the same time denying He exists. Your actions have consequences. Don’t make a baby in the womb pay for them.

Stay tuned,
