Yell at the sky without knowing why

A few years ago, I wrote about how challenging life can be these days. And I talked about how it leads to so much frustration. So much hurt and hopelessness. Not to mention all the terrible things humans do to earth other. And just as it was back then, it’s still tempting to just complain, gripe, and yell at the sky. But a yell … Read the rest…

Pray for me? Or pray for you? Oh, whatever shall I do?

I think there’s a good chance that I have a tendency to pray for me more than I pray for you. I know, I know. It’s totally selfish. And I don’t feel good about it. But, hey, at least I’m admitting my shortcoming. And that goes on the “good” side of my ledger. Right? And it’s not about “stuff” when I pray for me. … Read the rest…

Pray for all men. Hmm, so it's this again.

There it is. In black and white. It clearly says, “pray for all men.” And it’s right there in Paul’s letter to Timothy, his protégée. But hold on a second. Are those words actually in Paul’s letter? And do those words mean what you think they mean? No. And…probably not. If you own a New King James Bible, you can clearly see the words … Read the rest…

Cling to what is good. Yes, we certainly should.

You and I should cling to what is good. Not because it’s some kind of law. But because there’s much benefit to it. Sometimes eternal benefits. But you can’t do it. And I can’t either. We just can’t do it. Because it doesn’t jive with our human nature to cling to what is good. And that sounds bad. Right? (tongue only slightly in cheek) … Read the rest…

Pray for guidance from above and receive it in God's love

Pray for Guidance If you’ve ever wanted to pray for guidance, but you felt like your prayer just sounded lame, check out Psalm 5 in the Old Testament of the Bible. In the New King James version, there’s even a subheading labeled “a prayer for guidance.” So, that’s what it must be. Right? Anyway…most of the Psalms were also songs. And they have that … Read the rest…

Jeremiah Thomas - abolitionist, fighter, teenager

Jeremiah Thomas – abolitionist, fighter, teenager As far as I can tell, Jeremiah Thomas is about 16 as I write and record this. During those few years, he has been a courageous voice for unborn children. He has understood that every human being is created in the image and likeness of God. And so every human being, from the moment of conception, has the … Read the rest…

Your Big Idea

What’s your big idea today? You got up. Then you had breakfast. You got dressed. And you cleaned your room. Now what? Any ideas? Got some fun things to do? Or places to go? What’s your big idea for the day? So, what’s your big idea? Whatever it is…it can wait. I don’t mean for a year, a month, a week, or even a … Read the rest…
