Alright. I know you love me. And I know it’s not because I’m just a poet with soul. Even though I write to delight and ignite. But here’s the thing.
You don’t love me the way God does.
Now I don’t think, for even a nanosecond, that knowing that truth makes me appreciate your love, even one millimeter less. It’s just that your love, compared to the power of God’s love, is tiny. Still shiny. But tiny. Just like my love for you is.
Yeah, I can put my heart and soul into loving my neighbor (you). But the distractions of this world can alter or blur or otherwise deter my focus. God doesn’t have those kinds of issues or problems. And that’s despite the fact that He also listens to and answers prayers 24 hours a day.
Yikes!
If I have to answer two phone calls in a day, my brain has to be hung out to dry.
God created you and me. And He made us alive again even after we rebelled against and/or disobeyed Him. Yeah, you could say we were kinda like children of wrath. But you wouldn’t have to say it. Because the apostle Paul already did.
It sounds crazy. But you and I have given in to the ruler of this world, who isn’t currently God by the way, and yet He still loves us enough to make a way for us to live forever with him.
And that’s just a tiny, tiny fraction of why I put so much emphasis on the power of God’s love. Because it’s powerful enough to overcome and de-throne the prince of the power of the air. So, because of that love, I’m more than…

whose iambic pentameter
Drives words that live
inside the Christian parameter.
But maybe time will show that
these rhymes and these reasons
Helped some kids live with joy
