Nope. I don’t like writing pro life music. And for a lot of intents and purposes, I’m a pro lifer. But I wasn’t put here on this planet with the glorious purpose to write pro life songs. I’ll explain.
First, I believe our glorious purpose is to let God usurp us.
Usurp: to seize, take over, expropriate, take possession of, take, appropriate, commandeer, annex, assume, lay claim to
Yeah, we Christians should want God to commandeer our lives. And then, we should be willing to share his love, light, and wisdom with any rebellious yahoo who’ll listen. My method of sharing is rhyme and reason. So, I love to write articles, poems, prose, and songs about all the glorious things of God’s creation. Like love, flowers, puppies, stars, colors, life, and everything else that’s good. In a manly way, of course.
Anyway…
But every day it’s easy to look around and see:
- another clueless Christian who doesn’t know what God said about the blood of the innocent
- another selfish politician who doesn’t care about when life begins
- another poser celebrity who parrots worn out clichés like “life of the mother” or “my body, my choice”
- or another willfully ignorant blogger who just doesn’t care about the Truth
They all motivate me to think of another way to sing/write about it. I’m at a point in my life where I can’t accomplish many physical actions to help protect preborn babies. But I can write articles, posts, and songs about the danger. And I can share them around the internet, mainly here on my website. At least, for now.
At least until the tolerant beautiful people, who don’t judge, control everything.
And they’ve got their sights set on doing that.
So, here’s my exhortation to musicians, pastors, bloggers, politicians, and anyone else who recognizes the God-given right to life and personhood of everyone from biological beginning to natural end. Show the world you’re pro-life. Bend your will to God’s. It’s part of your glorious purpose here on Earth.
It would be great to put the need for pro life music out for good.
You can’t run away from real truth.
And every word of truth is a knife.
