When someone lives to be 100 years old, it becomes newsworthy. Because most people don’t live that long. And everybody wants to know their secret. Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live a long life. And 100 years is a long life these days. But forever is better.
Sadly, most centenarians won’t get to experience how forever is better.
Hey, don’t get mad at me for saying it. I’m just a messenger. The message comes from the best selling book of all time, also known as God’s word. Also known as the Bible. And it says right in there that the gate to eternal life is narrow, and there are only a few who find it. Most prefer the wide gate to destruction.
Wow, I can barely imagine the hopeless feeling a person must get when they ponder the extent of endless time apart from a living, loving God. Or the sort of aching in the heart that must exist for anyone who believes eternal blackness awaits them.
I know, with all my being, that life came from life. But there are billions of people who believe life arose from non-living matter. They don’t bother to explain where that matter came from in the first place. It’s as if the matter doesn’t matter.
And they believe that all that matters is the here and now. What you can know with your five senses. But your emotions and thoughts and logic and reason don’t come from your five senses.
Life comes from life. God, the only sovereign, eternal being, created you. And He’s made a way for you to live and be with Him through endless time. It doesn’t matter that you don’t know the extent of that time. It’s basically time without end. Knowing that, I’m hope-filled and hopeful, kinda like this…
Here In Me
Every day I look into the mirror
And I wonder if it’s me I really see.
And every day I get a little closer
To that blue sky that I call my Destiny.
Oh, every day I feel a little stronger
Even though I don’t know where I’m gonna go.
‘Cause I know I’ll always have You here inside me
Like a candle that can never lose its glow.
You’re what I want and all I need
And You make me feel that I could win it all.
My heart and soul have both agreed
That because of You I’II never have to crawl.
You are here in me and You make me laugh
And You make me smile
‘Cause I know You’re here in me.
You are here in me and it has to last
‘Cause I know that I’II…
I’ll always want You here in me.
Every night I look into the sunset
And I wonder just how many more I’ll see
But I know there’s nothing I should be afraid of
I can reach the blue sky if You’re here in me

That song is actually included in a collection of my originals I call “Love Songs.” Pretty original right? Anyway, get ’em in a digital download or a paperback journal:
