Finger Painting
I can still remember…way back in the last century…when I was a kid, the really fun times I had finger painting. It was like talking with your hands…only in living color. Moms and teachers seemed to always find a way to get the right kind of supplies together so that the kids could have fun, and the mess would be easy to clean up.
The great thing about finger painting is it’s just an extension of your hand…and therefore a direct extension of what’s going on in your head. So, you don’t have to think of things like brush size and technique. You just start moving the paints around with your fingers and right away you’re making masterpieces. Well, refrigerator masterpieces anyway.
So…if you have kids, and you haven’t already done so this week, get some cheap paper, some washable watercolors, and don’t forget to add fingers. Soon your little Picassos and Rockwells will be finger painting something you’ll never want to throw away…but you will. 🙂
Finger Painting
Somewhere on the canvas
Is a painting you can find,
If you can swish the colors
Like the colors in your mind.
All it takes are fingers
And a smile and some supplies…
Soon you’re finger painting
With some sparkles in your eyes.
Blend some blues and yellows
And a little purple, too.
Add a little water
Just to see what it will do.
Now, you’re making magic
With your very own two hands
Finger painting pictures
Every mommy understands.
