I love burgers. So, I didn’t like the headline I just read on social media: Trump Announces 300,000 Tons of Cheap Argentinian Beef Imports Amid Safety Concerns
Yikes! Cheap Argentinian Beef doesn’t sound good at all.
Now, I’ll grant you that Cheap Argentinian Beef isn’t the worst problem. America has to deal with. There are bigger issues. Like the fact that we have turned away from God. And too many citizens celebrate the death of unborn human babies. Yeah, those are way worse than what meat we will have for lunch today.
But I still wondered what brought all this Argentinian beef into the discussion. Here’s a paragraph that explains a little bit of it:
The proposal allows up to 300,000 metric tons of ground beef over 90 days, sold 25 percent below market prices to ease costs for families, as cattle herds recover from drought and high feed expenses. Trump aims to help rebuild the U.S. beef herd while supporting Argentina under President Javier Milei, building on earlier quota increases. Safety worries stem from a rejected Chinese shipment tainted with banned antibiotic chloramphenicol and a recent U.S. recall of Argentinian beef for inspection issues, though fact checks note U.S. testing and no direct links to the rejected batch. Ranchers oppose the move, fearing it hurts domestic producers, while supporters see short-term price relief.
When you have a president who doesn’t have enough wisdom to understand the importance of fully supporting American ranchers, you get this nonsense.
And Trump is definitely not wise.
In fact, I doubt he has ever, or possibly ever will, seek wisdom. Because he is wise in his own eyes. And that is a recipe for awful failure. An example of the consequences of that kind of failure came in this other headline:
Nearly 30,000 pounds of raw, frozen beef imported from Argentina has been recalled after being sold in Florida and Texas.
Of course, since I currently live in Florida, and I spent a lot of of my youth in Texas, that certainly got my attention. Fortunately, here in the Funderbungalow we don’t buy foreign beef. In fact, we currently buy from only a couple of sources of American beef grown on regenerative farms.
That doesn’t guarantee we’ll never deal with tainted issues. But at least it’s far less likely. And our choice helps support fellow Americans. Not people from other countries who don’t even like us Americans.
If only we had a president and a government that still relied on God. But the chances of that happening again or starting to look like slim and none. So, I recommend that, more than ever, you and I focus on how to…
Get Wise
Don’t drink the wine of violence
Or eat the bread of hate.
You might just get away with it.
Can you afford to wait?
Don’t push and shove the simple.
Seek knowledge just like gold.
And in so doing you’ll lay up
Your treasures manifold.
A word to the confounded…
Pour light into your eyes.
If you expect more than neglect,
Get wisdom; yeah get wise.
Get wise to the deceiver.
Don’t harken to his lies.
Keep commanding understanding.
Get wisdom; yeah get wise.
Don’t walk, you, with the wicked.
Beware the scornful tongue.
Let never part your loving heart
And live forever young. © 1995 TF
