“It’s all about giving.” If I’ve heard that once, I’ve heard it a thousand times. Maybe thousands. And I’ll bet you’ve heard it, too. On Christmas commercials. And billboards. In stores. So, it got me thinking. If it’s really all about the giving, then the first Christmas was actually on the 6th day of creation.
That 6th day was all about giving life.
As you might have heard, Adam and Eve were created on the 6th, and final, day of creation. (side note: by “final” I don’t mean God isn’t gonna ever created anything again…or that He can’t)
What better or more precious gift can anyone give than life? And that’s exactly what God did for His first two human creations. I know, if you don’t believe in God, that it just sounds like a fairy tale to you. But when you compare the story of creation, how God created everything, to the story of evolution, how everything came from nothing, which one sound more like a fairy tale?
So, back to the first Christmas. Here’s a little bit of what that day was like.
“This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
So, Adam and Eve were given life.
But guess who else received a gift that day. Your Creator.
Yeah, God gave Himself the gift of companions. Friends who could not only listen, but also converse with Him.
And since I’ve never had kids, I can only imagine how awesome that must have been for Him. Because, think about it. For eternity past, God had communed with Himself, the three persons of the Trinity. But after He created Adam and Eve, He had other persons to talk to and with. And He must’ve been thrilled to see what they could do.
That 6th day of creation changed everything for God.
Because from that day on, He’s been all about giving.
Every day of life is a gift. So, every day of life is Christmas.
So, remember just how truly blessed you are
To be here and to know that you exist.
Your whole life is a gift from your Creator.
And He offers it forever. Don’t resist.
