There’s a couple of verses in the Bible that say I can know I’ll receive from the Lord “the reward of the inheritance”. I don’t feel like I deserve any inheritance, but thankfully it doesn’t depend on how I feel.

No, I don’t feel like I “serve the Lord Christ” very well. Do you ever (or always) feel like that? I mean…I know I write my daily articles here on my website and most of them are about Biblical truth…but I also feel like I daily let God down. I disappoint Him with my selfishness, or my neglect of prayer, or my wavering thoughts, or a variety of other human weaknesses.

So, why should I ever expect some sort of reward of the inheritance when I’m not a very dependable son?

I believe I’ve been given the gift of words and music, and I’ve squandered far too much of it away on nothingness for far too many days. As I approach (and enter) those “silver” or “golden” years I often wonder if I’ve passed the prime…lost the gifts.

Then, like today, a verse from God’s words will pop up…either in my Bible app or on a website or social media post…and remind me that His promises aren’t contingent on my merit.

Whew! I really need to know that, own that, remember that, and be grateful. I have a living, loving, personal God who wants me to live forever. And He’s made a place where I can go and live forever, without worry of troubles, tribulations, dying, and death. I wish everyone could have the assurance I feel in that. Do you have it?
