Second best gift sure caused a shift

The second best gift God created inside me is music. It’s been a constant companion. Even through the years when I had no human constant companion. It’s been a reminder that I’m “wonderfully made.”

Music brings me internal and inexplicable joy. In, and through, my circumstances. Just as life is music to my ears, music is life to my ears. And the cup of gratitude, in my soul spirit, runs over. I want a song in my heart until my heart no longer beats. And forever after that. Yeah, that’s a mighty fine gift alright.

And that gift helped me buy, and share, a lot of other gifts over the years. Because I made a living, as a musician, for 25 years. And that’s despite the fact that I didn’t start out to play music for a living. But you could say music paid for my clothes, food, electricity, gasoline, gear, housing, and presents. In fact, I just said it. Plus, I got to see a LOT of America, and even parts of Canada and Mexico, as I traveled to “gigs.”

I met lots of nice people. And some not so nice. And I experienced a wide variety of cultural activities and preferences in the different sections of America. All because of the gift of music. And so much more.

But, as I said, it’s the second best gift.

Because the best gift is the Maker of music. And it’s only because of the love of Jesus that you and I can even hear music, much less enjoy it. I mean, think about it. He didn’t have to include music in the creation. After all, it’s not a necessity. You CAN live without it (although it doesn’t feel that way to a musician).

On second thought, is that really true? CAN you live without music? Or is it maybe, on some invisible, vibrational level, a key component to the building blocks of life. It can sure feel that way to a musician. And you see a multitude of references to music, musicians, and musical instruments in the Bible. So, it must be pretty important to God.

Well, I’ll leave you to speculate on that. After all, you’re free to choose what you think. It’s not as if God predestined you to like and enjoy music or not. As for me? I choose wisely the joy-giving gift of music.

Play sweet piano
And lose me inside you.
I know you will do that for me.
Let’s take a journey…we’ll fly,
And we won’t come back.
We’ll live in a sweet melody.

Speaking of the gift of music, you should reward yourself with the music you find in these books. And if you already have them, share the links with everyone else. Don’t be a hoarder.
