Monday morning feeling doesn’t seem appealing

The Mamas and the Papas. Hard to believe that was actually a name for a band. But, yep, from around 1965 to 1968, they were very popular. And their melodies and harmonies were on the airwaves everywhere. One of their most famous songs would make you believe they didn’t like Monday morning much. They certainly didn’t trust it.

But what’s so bad about Monday morning?

As I write this, it’s early Monday morning in April of 2023. In fact, it’s the first Monday of the month. And, other than the horrendous condition our country and our world is in, I can’t find anything wrong with the day.

Matter of fact, this morning feels exactly like yesterday morning. Maybe not quite as cool as yesterday morning. But no big difference. So, why do so many people dread this first day of the week? If you know, share that with me.

But you know who really shines on Monday Morning?

Moms. Several years ago I shared what I mean about that.

Here’s what I said:

On Monday morning, moms all around America get out of bed, go to the kitchen, and start making breakfast for kids, dads, and even a little something for themselves.

This isn’t earth-shattering news. In fact, it isn’t even all that newsworthy. Especially when you consider these moms go through that same routine every other day of the week, too. But what makes it worth talking about, to me, is that these ladies never seem to get the appreciation they deserve. And I’m not talking about setting aside a day to honor mothers. I’ve never been a fan of calling one day a year “mother’s day” (same with father’s day, but that’s another story).

When you consider how many days a mom makes breakfast, lunch, and dinner (snacks too) for her kids, her husband, and even her kids’ friends…well…she should be regularly honored. You should just want to buy her a present just because. Not because it’s “mother’s day.” Just because. Because you love and appreciate all the things she does. Even if you don’t always think to tell her thank you.

Don’t misunderstand. I know there are actually bad moms out there. I’ve read the horrible stories in the news. But that doesn’t phase me. I know the vast majority of moms overflow with the special love God gave them. And the vast majority of them love sacrificially which has been described as “no greater love.”

So here’s my rhyming salute to you this Monday morning, moms!

Monday morning moms are the very best kind.
They get your week started in the best frame of mind.
They nudge you a little when you’re falling behind.
Monday morning moms are how love is defined.

Stay tuned,

No Condemnation For Those

Tony Funderburk Posted on September 14, 2013 by TonyAugust 18, 2024
There is therefore now, No Condemnation For Those who are in Christ Jesus

Are you one of “those?” You should be. Because there is no condemnation for those.

But who are “those” there is no condemnation for?

Well, they’re the ones who are “in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit“.

OK, you pegged me. I’m one of “those”. And I’ll tell you why. Let’s assume for a moment…even if you don’t agree…that the Christian worldview is correct. It says that Jesus is God. And He came to earth about 2,000 years ago, taking on the flesh of man, suffered great persecution, was tortured and put to death even though He was found innocent of all charges, and He rose from the dead proving once and for all He was the one who was prophesied to come.

Now, if all that’s true, there’s only one good reason for Him to do that. Love. He couldn’t have done that for any selfish reasons. What could any mortal human hope to personally gain by going through all that? And take that up a million notches because He’s God. He’s eternal from forever in the past to forever in the future. He would never have died any kind of death without a sacrificial choice to do so.

So…it wasn’t His own gain He was seeking. It was yours. It was mine. And what gain? Well, the fact that Jesus took the punishment for all sin…past, present, and future…means that I have a shot at eternal life. Jesus gave me freedom from the eternal consequences of sin and death. His death made it possible for me to live in the presence of God without being consumed and extinguished by His holiness.

Wow, it’s hard to wrap your mind around.

and yet…it’s so simple. Love…the love of God that is…truly does conquer all. Don’t condemn yourself to an eternity of unquenchable anguish. Seek God. Find out if I’m right about His loving nature…because there is no condemnation for those who are in Him and his love.

Before you go, jump on the The TRUTH. And join the growing band of believers who enjoy my books, daily rhymes, songs, and videos about the Rhyme and Reason and power of God’s love.

Stay tuned…
