Bone bow? If you know, you know.

I’m not kidding you right now. This is what they said. “The Bone Bow is a Light Bow found in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.”

But the news about the Bone Bow doesn’t stop there.

Here’s some more you should know. And I’ll tell you why I brought it up in a couple of minutes. “Though it may not seem particularly exciting at a glance, its Ash of War provides you with homing arrows, making it a fun bow for both PVE and PVP encounters, especially given its low stat requirements make it work with nearly any build.”

OK, I know you’re getting excited and can’t sit still. So…

“Here’s what you need to know about the Bone Bow and where to find it.

Bone Bow stats and features

The Bone Bow has a weight of 3.0 and requires the following stats to wield:

  • STR – 8
  • DEX – 11

The weapon comes equipped with Ash of War: Rancor Shot. This Ash of War essentially grants you homing arrows. It imbues your arrows with vengeful spirits that chase down enemies after you fire them, which could make it especially useful in some PVP situations.”

Still with me? Great. ‘Cause there’s more.

“The Bone Bow can be upgraded to +10 with Somber Smithing Stones.”

What’s that? You don’t know what a bone bow is? Or why it’s important? Fine. Here you go.

“It’s a crude shortbow fashioned from sickly bone. A medium for spirit-calling, and a product of the ancient hexing arts of the tower.”

OK, yeah, the lights came on then, didn’t they?! Oh yeah!

So, now you wanna know where you can get your own Bone Bow.

Well, the information I saw says it can be found within the Belurat Tower Settlement legacy dungeon on the western side of Gravesite Plain.” And that, of course, makes it “relatively easy to get early in your adventure.”

Yeah, basically all you gotta do is “advance through the very beginning of the dungeon until you reach the Small Private Altar Site of Grace. From there, take the door out and up a few flights of stairs until there’s a path leading to the right, next to some rubble. Then, “take this path to the end, bear left, and then enter the door located in an alcove on the right. Take the ladder up, go through the door ahead, then walk up the stairs. At the top, go left down another flight of stairs before taking a final right turn.”

You’re almost there. But a few more instructions and things to be aware of: “Straight ahead of you is a door leading into a room with an item very clearly visible in the distance. Be careful. Because this room is home to a few large scorpion enemies that will drop in when you get close. They go down easily. But they can still put some hurt on you if you’re not expecting them. But once they’ve been defeated, you can loot the corpse here for the Bone Bow.”

Now, I’m sure I’m not telling you a bunch of stuff you don’t already know.

So, all this information is just for newcomers to TonyFunderburk.com AND me.

Yeah, ME!

Because I never heard of any of this before this morning in late June of 2024. And if I never hear of it again, I can guarantee I won’t feel a sense of loss. Because. It’s. A. Game.

A GAME?! Are you kidding me?

Have you ever heard kids, of any age, complain about how hard it is to read the Bible? Yeah, it’s most kids. And they complain because they believe the Bible is filled with a bunch of old-fashioned rules to stop all their fun. And parents and preachers and teachers (for the most part) don’t them kids how much adventure is in the Bible.

I don’t mean the obvious stories about Samson’s strength, David’s bravery, and Noah’s gigantic ship. Almost everyone knows those stories. No, I’m talking about Paul and the dungeons. And a dragon with seven heads and ten horns. Oh yeah, how about the beast with feet like a bear and a mouth like a lion?

Wow, certainly seems like a Bone Bow would come in pretty handy dealing with those odds. But a make-believe weapon wouldn’t stand up to much of the reality in The Revelation. No, dealing with all the obstacles you can find in that story is gonna take some serious brain power.

And if you have enough brain power to play a game that’ll never get you to Heaven, you have enough power to read the Bible. Bible readers can be the biggest winners. Because the ultimate prize is you get to live forever.

So, what’s it gonna be, kids?

Lame Brain or Brainy Brain

A lame brain can’t drive a train.
A lame brain can’t fly a plane.
And a lame brain can’t add or spell.
A lame brain don’t talk so well.

A brainy brain reads poems and books.
A brainy brain takes second looks.
And a brainy brain eats meats and fruit.
A brainy brain has pep to boot.

So, a lame brain or brainy brain?
Which one will your head contain?
From breakfast, and all through the day,
Go for brainy brain, all the way.

Do you know a kid with a vivid imagination? That’s kind of a loaded question. Because basically ALL kids have a vivid imagination. I know I sure did when I was a kid. Yeah, my world of make believe had the traditional stuff. You know, castles in the air, bicycle is actually a horse, tree house is a rocket ship stuff.

Of course, that doesn’t make me unique at all. I’m sure just about every kid conjures up worlds of wonder. And a healthy imagination is an indication of a healthy brain.

So, it’s great to see your castles in the air.

But it’s also great (and necessary) to build a foundation under them. Because you don’t want your “impossible dreams” to turn you into another Don Quixote. Even though, these days, people might not find it so crazy if you’re out in a field battling a windmill. Crazier things have happened.

But as an adult, flying ponies start to fade away. And tree houses are replaced with house payments. And it’s actually a good idea to “put away childish things” when you grow up. That’s in the Bible. So, that means it’s true AND right. Because it’s important to know how to deal with reality in this world.

But that doesn’t mean you have to toss your imagination out the window. Far from it. It’s just a bad idea to surround yourself with make-believe. Which is easier than ever to do, now, with the internet and AI. And that makes it more important than ever to get out and enjoy the great, big, beautiful, outdoors.

This incredible blue planet we call home (for now) has everything your body needs to survive and thrive. And that’s absolutely not by accident.

God created everything in the universe.

And He created human beings with feelings and intellect. And most importantly, awareness and the potential for eternal life. And, from what I’ve gleaned from the Bible, it seems to give Him great pleasure to watch us explore the wonders of the world. I think He loves to see us use the resources He gave us to build stuff and grow food and advance our knowledge of His design. But it also grieves Him to see us destroy and pervert His creation.

Back in 1996 I composed, produced, and recorded a collection of songs and put them on a CD titled: Do Right. Those songs talk about how this world didn’t happen by chance. And they admonish others to be bold and take a stand for God’s Way.

They also show how it’s foolish to turn your back on the only One who gives any meaning to your life. Because, in a way, He’s already built those castles in the air that you and I imagined when we were kids.

So, Do Right and risk the consequences because Heaven is real. And so is hell.

Now, whatever you do with all your might,
Do Right.

Click or tap on any of the links to get your own Do Right CD. Yes, CD. There aren’t many of these original, unopened ones left. But “warning, warning!” If you prefer the sugar-coated songs you can find in just about any church these days, DON’T click any of these links. This music isn’t for you.

But if you’re looking for meatier music, and you’re OK with a 90’s sound, get one delivered to your doorstep soon. And from one of the most trusted e-commerce sites on the planet. Ebay.

Now, whatever you do with all of your might,

War of the worlds but there are no other worlds

Just 5 days ago, I alluded to this event that took place 83 years ago today. That’s when Orson Welles did a radio broadcast based on the H.G. Wells (no relation and not even spelled the same way) book, War of the Worlds.

The War of the Worlds broadcast was a special Halloween show.

And, by many accounts, there were millions of people listening. And, as crazy as it sounds, many of them thought the reports of aliens from Mars were real.

Of course, it’s absurd to believe there could ever be a war of the worlds. But not because there are no other planets or solar systems or galaxies. But those planets, solar systems, and galaxies are not worlds.

Because, by definition, a world consists of a planet AND all its countries, peoples, and natural features. And since those other planets out there in the universe don’t have countries and people, they’re not worlds.

So, don’t worry. We won’t be invaded by Mars. Despite what Hollywood and evolution fairy tale fans would have you believe.

But resistance of the fairy tale illusion requires adult minds.

Because little children are easily fooled. And grownups with the minds of little children are, too. They’re the ones Paul talked about when he said they’re,”…tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting”

And if you don’t believe there are crafty, cunning plots against being planned against you, then consider yourself one of those children. The good news is, you can grow up faster than the plots against you. But you can’t do it alone.

Gonna leave this world in a lightning flash.
Gonna leave behind all this earthly trash.
But we still got this life to live till then,
And I know you’re askin’ when is then…

Soon…soon.

When you become and adult, it's time to Put away childish things.

Put away childish things kiddo

It”™s December 2018, as I write this, and of course that means people are ramping up their shopping time for Christmas. A lot of the focus is on buying presents for kids. And even though I haven”™t been a kid for a long, long time, I still remember the magical feeling of getting presents under the Christmas tree. But one day, it became completely clear it was time to put away childish things and focus more on why there”™s a Christmas in the first place. Here”™s something I wrote about it almost five years ago, and it still applies…

When you become and adult, it

Kids have vivid imaginations.

And I loved to spend time in my own little world of make believe. I don”™t think that makes me unique at all. I”™m sure just about every kid enjoys conjuring up images of flying ponies or personal rocket ships or invisible friends. It”™s only natural.

Plus…it”™s good to have an imagination. You”™ve probably heard some people say “go ahead and have your castles in the air”just be sure to build a foundation under them”. I believe that, too. If you”™re gonna dream, dream big. Are you familiar with the story of Don Quixote? If not, look for it. It”™s a fun read. He was always dreaming the “impossible dream”. As a kid, it”™s much easier to dream the impossible dream because you don”™t yet have a bunch of harsh reality stomping your dreams into a pulp.

But as an adult, maybe you stumbled in your quest for the impossible dream. Maybe you began to realize there”™s no such thing as a flying pony. Then, your heart sank, and your mind began to focus on the day-to-day tasks”making a living, taking care of a family or household, and paying the bills. In other words…

Then kids put away childish things and become adults.

Those so called “day-to-day”tasks are vitally important, and the Apostle Paul, in the Bible, admonishes us with his letter to “put away childish things“when we become adults. So, it”™s good to embrace the reality of how the world truly works. It doesn”™t mean you have to give up or throw away your imagination. It just means you can”™t live in that make believe world anymore. However, this world has so much brightly colored, multi-textured, and glorious sensuous reality you don”™t need to make believe to behold and enjoy it.

You”™ve been given a great, big, beautiful, blue planet with everything your body needs to survive and thrive. God gives you day and night, light and dark, feelings and intellect, and you have the freedom to explore the wonders of the world. And you can pursue the passion in your heart and mind”at least when you don”™t make believe it all just happened by chance. When you reach that level of make believe, you”™re denying the existence of the only One who gives any meaning to your life.

A man or a woman can still be a child of God.

As a kid of thirteen I asked Jesus to come into my heart. He did. And even though I didn”™t live a completely moral and exemplary life, I knew He”™d never leave me nor forsake me. I don”™t have to make believe He loves me or that He”™s made a place for me to live with Him forever. And though I put away childish things when I became a man, I”™m still a child of the Living God. You can be, too. Don”™t put it off till tomorrow”tomorrow might be too late.

As A Kid

Well, all I have to do is close my eyes
And envision any place I want to be.
Then, all at once, I fly high into the sky.
And there”™s so many pretty things below to see.
Won”™t you grab your things and come with me?

The day begins to turn inside itself,
And things you thought you knew you soon forget.
But don”™t despair, your memory returns,
And suddenly you”™re filled with one regret.
You really wish you didn”™t have to stop yet.

Make believe…make believe…
Games I played, played as a kid.
I don”™t care…I don”™t care…
What you”™ve done or what you did.
It”™s all a game of make-believe…
A game I always played…played as a kid.

Well, all I have to do is sing a song
And quickly I can feel my spirits soar.
Oh, I believe I”™ll make one of my own
And sing it to myself forevermore.
So, what in Heaven am I waiting for?

Make-believe.
