Candace Cameron Bure in a media purée

Candace Cameron Bure (last name rhymes with purée…and that sounds a bit like hooray) recently took a stand. No, not in a court of law. But it sure was in the court of public opinion. And opinions were mostly positive from people who matter and very negative from people who don’t.

In case you’re not familiar, Candace Cameron Bure is a Christian.

Of course, most of the media will describe her as “is an American actress, producer, author and television personality.” And that’s all true, too. But not nearly as important as how I described her.

And Candace Cameron Bure (let’s just call her Candace from now…Ok?) landed in what some might call hot water recently. Because she took a stand for “traditional marriage.”

If you watch Hallmark movies enough, you might catch her in some of her roles on that network. But Candace was hired as CEO, this year, by Great American Media. And they seem to be leaning more toward Christian-focused programming. For example, Hallmark (their “rival”) decided to produce a holiday movie totally about a so-called “LGBT love story.” And when Candace was interviewed about whether or not her new network would do that, she said, “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

And, naturally, the tolerant, diversity-loving media said that was awesome.

NOT.

No, for the most part, they’ve lambasted Candace with harsh criticism for her stand on traditional morals?! And doesn’t she care that she was “rude and hurtful to a whole community of people?”

Hmm. Don’t they care that they’re rude and hateful to Candace and a whole community of people?

Short answer? NO. Longer answer? Not only do they NOT care, but they enjoy saying the most harsh and hurtful things they can imagine. And they enjoy the fact that they get a pass on their hate speech.

I read an article that talked about how Candace’s daughter, Natasha, stood up for her mom. She said “The media is an absolutely VILE space for negativity.” Yes it is. And, on social media channels, Natasha posted this about her mom, “As they continuously twist the narrative to beat down on the Kingdom, you stand firm in faith and never let others dim your light for Him. No matter how out of context or warped the words may get, the enemy will not prevail.”

By the way, in case you don’t know, the “enemy” is Lucifer, aka: satan.

Natasha also said, “Society has gotten completely out of hand with believing every strategically worded headline broadcasted by the media, followed by cancel culture, which is nothing but ugly.” And then she added this about Candace, “The Lord shines through you time and time again.”

I haven’t followed her career. But I know Candace was one of the kids on the TV show, Full House. I never watched that show. And she reprised her role in Fuller House. Then, she continued her career, as an actress, down the same path as most others. She even lived with the guy who eventually became her husband. But that was after talking with her brother, Kirk Cameron.

He let God’s light shine through him to his sister. And now they’re both outspoken about their Christian faith. But they’ve both endured the world’s attempts at mocking and ridicule. And that’s what happens when you’re willing to take a stand against “lifestyles” God is against. I’ll bet Candace and Kirk will tell you it’s worth it, though. Because they know the forever perspective is the one that counts.

I’m searching for the sanctity
T
hat I never do quite find.
I’m longing for the living days
T
hat never, ever end.
I’m thinking so theatrically.
B
ut at least I use my mind
To quest for the quintessence
O
f my Forever Friend.  (from my song “The Pure Place”)
