There it was again. Another story, in a long stream of similar stories, about adults helping a helpless baby. I mean, come on. Are you kidding me? It’s just a baby. It’s not like it’s important or anything. The reporter told the story like this. I’m not quoting. But this is the gist of it…

If adults didn’t act fast enough, it would have no chance. Every minute that passed brought it closer to death. But it could only lie there and cry.

After all, it was just a baby.

Fortunately, a group of adults happened by. And the reporter mentioned how they heard it crying. So, they climbed down some dangerous rocks along the coast of British Columbia to help the little orca.

Yeah. Orca.

Look, I get it. When I see creatures, even the ones that aren’t human, who are in a perilous predicament, I wanna help, too. But what gets me about this story is how it’s just one of so many similar stories I see all over social media.

The sad part is I’ve found that most of the people who go out of their way to save a baby orca, or elephant, or bear, typically couldn’t care less about baby humans.

In fact, many of them will tell you we have too many humans on our tiny, overpopulated planet (their descriptions, not mine). But I’ve always wondered who came up with the magic number of humans that would be too many. And I forget. Is it 7 billion? Or 8 billion? Or somewhere in between?

Elgielene and I recently traveled across two thirds of America. And once again (we’ve traveled around the country a lot) we noticed how much land there is in our country. Tons and tons and tons of it. And I’m talking about the kind of land that’s totally inhabitable by humans. But uninhabited. Lying there.

Empty. More or less.

So, we don’t have too many humans on our planet.

We have too many people who refuse to think things through.

Notice I didn’t say they “can’t think things through.” And I didn’t say they “don’t think things through.” I said they “refuse.” Because they don’t wanna be told what to do. Especially if it’s God telling them. And He says something is wrong, they say it’s right. And vice versa.

So, a baby human is disposable. But a beached orca? It’s just a baby. And it needs our help.

It’s sad for me to see how far America has turned away from the blessings of God. So far that many, if not most, will defend unborn puppies but support people who rip apart unborn babies.

There’s a clear line between right and wrong.
