“showing luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angles” – That’s the definition of iridescent I just read in the dictionary app on my computer. It certainly describes the kind of iridescent lights I saw in a picture a friend of mine shared online.
You were probably a fun-loving, American kid once upon a time. Right? So, you probably enjoyed a time or three of chasing bubbles around the yard. And I’m talking about the big, colorful and sparkling bubbles that fly out of those hoops your mom or somebody would use to make the bubbles appear.
Are you with me?
Yeah, if you had an experience like that, you are a lucky ducky. Because you got to experience the exhilaration of pure delight from the simplicity of life.
I know our amazing digital devices can conjure up some dazzling images. But they absolutely cannot provide the multisensory experience of going outside, in the good old, summertime, and chasing bubbles. Devices will never provide or replace that kind of delight.
When my friend shared the picture (which you can see part of in the blue eyeglasses that go with this post) of bubbles in a meadow at sundown, memories flooded my mind.
So, I quickly jumped on my computer keyboard (no I didn’t write down my thoughts with a pencil) and captured a few of those memories in this short rhyme…
Iridescent Lights Disappearing In Flights
There were effervescent circles,
Shining iridescent lights,
On the svelte, magenta cosmos.
Almost no one saw the sights.
But then someone with a camera,
And creative appetites,
Captured just a hint of Heaven
In those iridescent lights. © 2022 TF
